A unique unreleased Chris Watson recording
The opportunity to own a unique recording by acclaimed natural history sound recordist Chris Watson. A long-form dawn chorus which Chris recorded during 2015 in Kielder Forest, Northumberland. Produced in collaboration with designer Matt Singer, David Shrigley’s The Thing Quarterly - Issue 19 - The Travel Issue - consists of thick brown carboard box in which is carefully packed leather travel wallet (gold foiled with the text “The Travel Wallet”). Inside the wallet there is a series of four double-sided removable phrase cards and a 24 page passport book (which can also be removed). The phrase cards are in English (in Shrigley’s handwriting) and are designed to be used in all situations where phrases are required. Written and illustrated by David Shrigley, the 24 page passport book is a meditation on travel, existentialism, and pool splashing. Published 2013. Worth £80. Rare. Courtesy David Shrigley. Spend a day recording with Chris Watson
A unique opportunity to accompany acclaimed nature sound recordist Chris Watson on a dawn chorus field recording trip to two wild locations in Northumberland. The winning bidder will join Chris on a field recording trip from the early hours of Sunday May 15th 2016 to two of his "all time favourite" locations. Picking you up at 3am in Newcastle upon Tyne, Chris will drive you to Flow Moss, Dryburn Moor, on the high heather moorlands above Hexham. Here you'll experience and record "a strange and spectacular chorus of red grouse, curlew, redshank, golden plover and skylarks". You'll then drive drive on to Kielder Forest to make further recordings "within the sparkling acoustics of a special location and the site of 'Hrafn'". After a couple of hours in this unique location, the largest man made forest in northern Europe, Chris will return you to Newcastle railway station in the early afternoon. Chris recommends you bring your recording equipment as he is expecting the opportunity to capture some exceptional bird song recordings.
