Actors of color swept every musical performance category at the Tonys

For the first time in Tonys history, all four of those categories — lead actor, lead actress, featured actor and featured actress — featured winners of color. Those winners, respectively: Leslie Odom Jr. of Hamilton, Cynthia Erivo of The Color Purple, Daveed Diggs of Hamilton and Renée Elise Goldsberry of Hamilton. The only time the Tonys got close to this record previously was in 1982.

My jaw dropped as soon as Ramin opened his mouth to sing “Oh What a Circus” and I wasn’t able to close my mouth or stop smiling for maybe a good ten minutes because UGHHHH I’ve waited so long to hear him perform. AND HE IS SUCH A SWEETHEART!!! There were at least 40 people waiting for the cast at the stage door, and when he came out with his bag and guitar case, he was already ready with his sharpie. Such a blessing to have seen him. I didn’t wait for John Cudia and Caroline Bowman anymore because I had to commute home and I didn’t want to keep my dad waiting.
