What do you create?

I got that question asked yesterday and it stuck with me. So what am I creating, then? Is it even necessary to create in life? Does everybody has the ability, duty or even right to create? Or is it for just a few selected people with “talent”?

Well, what I think is this: Creating is something everyone can do. It’s making things, where there wasn’t something before. And creating can be anything - that’s the beauty in it.

The blind person can still sing. The mute person can still paint. The unmusical person can still create a nice peaceful garden... you see where I’m going. 

So yes, everyone has the ability to create. What about the duty and right to create? Does everyone has that? Right is easy - yes I think everyone has the right to create because I also think everyone has the duty to create. Why else are we here on this earth? What else can we do, to not leave this earth without our footprint on is. We can make such beautiful things for us and other people to enjoy and make them happy (or we can make ugly things and that’s fine as well, as long as it makes you happy). That’s why: Yes! You and everyone else should create.

The question I ask myself is, what do I want to do, to create? Because I would really like to focus on one thing, to really improve in it. Is it playing the piano or learning how to play the guitar, to create music then? Is it singing? Or is it writing? Or maybe even all of the above - singing/songwriting. I just don’t know it yet, because I love everything.

What I do know is, that everyone out there should ask themselves:

Do whatever brings you to life, then. Follow your own fascinations, obsessions, and compulsions. Trust them. Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart.

Change.

So, the last quote of mine was about new beginnings. New beginnings have definitely two different sides of the same coin.

There is some kind of hype about new beginnings. When a new year starts, when a new month starts, even when a new week starts. Suddenly many people get excited and start doing new things that they’ve never done before or start wanting to be a completely different person and try to leave franticly everything behind that was their personality before or start to adapt habits that they’ve never even tried.

While I think, that it’s amazing to try new things and try to evolve and better yourself, I also think that you can do it anytime. Always. There is no perfect moment in which you can start something new. If you think about it, there is even just a now. Always. There is just now because the past is already gone and the future is not here yet. 

So what I’m trying to say, is that every moment is great for a new beginning. We don’t need new years, months or weeks. We just need to want change. And when you can begin something at any given time, that takes kind of the pressure off of it and you can even enjoy it.

But there are times, when you maybe don’t want the change at all but you still have to change or accept the changes around you. And that’s the other side of the coin. What then? 

Well you sort of have to relaxe about it. Sounds easier said than done, I know (oh, how I know...). But what good does it make to sweat it, really? You just stress out, you put pressure on yourself, you get anxious and maybe even paralyzed. 

But I really don’t believe in that. What I truly believe in is this: Change, new beginnings, that’s where opportunities lie. That’s where you get to grow, get to experience exciting things, where you meet new people that maybe become friends someday, where you make awesome memories or learn from failures (and maybe make fun memories out of that). And that’s the beauty in new beginning. 

So let’s all just give it a rest. Relaxe, trust that the universe, or maybe god, or gods (whatever you believe in) guide us. Trust that everything happens for a reason. And most of all: Just spear yourself headaches and wrinkles and see the bright side of things instead of only the negative ones.
