“parker? parker stay with me.” she sounded faint in his comm. eliot tried to keep the edge of panic from his voice. tried, being the operative word. because parker is damn important and if he’s not there, and if he doesn’t make it, and if he loses her… “hang on for me, alright? ‘m on my way.” he had two people left, if his count was right, and he’d be there to help. he hoped he could help. he needed to be able to help.
thankfully she was alone and safe, at least for the moment, and didn’t need to do anything other than focus on trying not to pass out. her head was swimming, and when she lifts her hand to feel along her hairline it comes back sticky with blood. she nods, forgetting that he can’t exactly see her, and immediately regrets it as the pain spikes through her head. “okay, okay, i’m just - gonna sit for a second, just until you get here.”

“space — spaceship?” morgan repeats, somewhere between incredulous and absolutely in awe. he still isn’t sure if he believes her, if he should believe a word she’s saying, but if it’s some elaborate prank, he’ll soon see, when she takes him to her ‘spaceship’. “if you’re hiding some kind of a millennium falcon around here, you’ve been holding out on me!” given the fact he still has star wars bedsheets, and a deep love of all things along that vein, there’s no doubt that was excited about this, if it had even a slight chance of being true. “this i’ve gotta see.”

“well, alright i have to admit that it’s not nearly as large as the millennium falcon, but she’s still fairly cool in her own right.” and technically the inside could probably hold multiple of the fictional spaceship, given there was a whole other dimension of rooms. thankfully though, she didn’t park that far away, so when she motions him to follow her it’s only a few minutes of walking before they arrive at the blue police box. she glances at him for a moment before pushing the door inwards, letting him step inside so she can follow. “according to my da’, she’s called a tardis. or at least, that’s the name he came up for them. stands for time and relative dimensions in space.”

“ Yeah, there seems to be a lot of that going around, ” Clarke sighed. She wasn’t sure what to make of Jenny yet — the time traveler. The concept itself was difficult to swallow; although, she supposed, no more so than all of humanity’s minds being trapped by an artificial intelligence within a computer generated city. “ At least you didn’t arrive a couple years ago, you’d have died from radiation poisoning on the spot. ” She paused, frowning for a moment. “ Actually, you’re lucky you arrived when you did, because even a few days or weeks ago you might have been caught in the crossfire. ” Her eyes dart up to look out of the medical building, observing some of Wonkru and Diyoza’s crew working together. For the most part, she was trying to stay back and out of a leadership role, backing Madi only when she needed the weight of Wanheda behind her. “ Everyone here has been through so much… And most of them did not have six years of peace to process our initial fighting. ” Even with six years, how different was she really? When she felt threatened, she had betrayed everyone to keep Madi safe. “ I know it’s probably… a lot to be dropped in the middle of — are you working on a way to get back to, uh, the future? ”

Jenny'd been dropped into enough situations headfirst before to know how to handle it until she caught her bearings, or, to be more accurate, how to fake like she was handling it. “ Radiation poisoning? Well, I'm not sure I'd die immediately, kinda depends on just how much radiation you're talking about, but it definitely wouldn't be what I'd consider a fun time. ” She couldn't even be fully certain she would survive it — not in this body at least, and with no ship to escape with it didn't seem likely. It was strange being in this situation, even when she was staying put and going through time linearly, she could always leave if she really wanted to. Now she was just... stuck, with seemingly no way off of the planet. For now however she was mostly hanging back, trying to figure out how she fit into the situation at hand without causing any more trouble than she needed to. “ — Guess I'm lucky I crash-landed in a sort of peaceful time. ” While her first priority should probably have been trying to find her TARDIS, she couldn't stop herself from wanting to help. Even with her inability to judge age, she was fairly sure they were just children. At the very least none of them could have been older than forty. Realizing she got lost in her own thoughts she blinks a couple times, turning more to face the other blonde. “ Future, past — doesn't really matter. I tend to travel all over really, not just through time. Have you ever left this planet? ”

it’s not every day elsie hears herself talked about like that, in hushed tones, to a table of adventurers, each one thinking the bard’s still at the bar gathering up their drinks. spoiler alert: she’s not. she carefully sets each of their orders down in front of them, breaking up the gravitas of the moment with an even more interesting tension. everyone’s wondering – did she hear? of course she did. she’s not entirely sure how to approach it, even though her heart’s fluttering in her chest and her hands are trembling, just a little bit. vex’halia is the last to receive her drink, the flagon being placed down just a bit slower, buying elsie a precious few more seconds to think. “ did you mean that, vex? ”

it’s in one of their rare moments of peace, one where they don’t have to worry about where to go or what to do next, when keyleth asks her of her feelings for the bard. for once, instead of brushing it off and saying they’ll talk of it later, she answers truthfully, a small smile pulling at her lips at the thought of her. there are times when her words fail her, but this is not one of them. it’s only when she sees the druids eyes widen as elsie comes up behind her, setting keyleth’s drink down between them before giving everyone else theirs that vex realizes how much she must have heard. her hands fidget a tad bit as she waits for her to circle back, and she runs her tongue over her lips at the question. it’s one of the rare times when her confidence fails her, making her pause for a moment before she answers. “ of course. ” no pet-names are needed, none of the darlings or my dears that are sometimes used as a defense mechanism to hide how she feels. “ i wouldn’t lie about something like that, especially not to you. ”

She wants revenge. She really does, and the Doctor doesn’t want to think about what she would have already done if she had weaponized the sonic in her hands. He might already be dead, with the way her anger had gotten the better of her during the rest of their conversation. She holds his gaze for eight seconds, although it feels like so much longer before she’s lowering her arm. ❛ ‘f I see you again, I will kill y’. ❜ She swears before pushing past him and outside, hands shaking as she breaks into a sprint.
He lets out a long breath once she’s past him, watching her go before shouting out after her. “I look forward to it!” But that would give him a chance to leave unencumbered by her judgments. Maybe she’d stop the carnage, maybe she wouldn’t. Either way, it wouldn’t actually effect him. Her… Her it might have some lasting effects on. The Doctor made his way towards the TARDIS, sending himself elsewhere in time and space.

“IS SOMETHING WRONG?” HE’S perceptive — sees those things easily. “If something’s wrong, you can count on me. You know I’ll take my heart clean apart if it helps yours beat.”
KNEES ARE TUCKED AGAINST her chest, more focused on the stars in the sky above them than she is on his approach. “ I appreciate the offer, but I hope you know you don’t need to. I’ve got a spare heart just for that purpose. ” Her tone is teasing, but it doesn’t quite reach her eyes.

“ i thought you’d never ask. ” elsie places her hand in vex’s, trying to contain the smile that wants to blossom across her face. she shouldn’t be as absolutely thrilled that she asked but she is. she’s equally as delighted at being called gorgeous, whether or not she actually believes it. if she was so nice to look at right now, why hadn’t anyone asked her to dance yet aside from her companion? it doesn’t really matter now. she’s going to get to actually experience this masquerade a little. “ you do know how to dance, right? ”

the twins were experts when it came to watching a crowd. while vax could easily find the spots where he could sneak through without being noticed or know just when to reach for someones pocket, it was vex who could read their emotions — and their lips — like a second language. she knew how to make them think she was someone other than who she really was, but with a beautiful woman such as elsie beside her? it may have made her just a tad possessive. she shakes her head, leading her onto the dance floor with a grin that is only brought out by the happiness radiating from the other. “ of course i know how to dance, dear, i wouldn’t want to make a fool of myself in front of a beautiful lady, now would i? ”

“you’re getting pretty good. mind if i tussle with you?” percy asks with a soft smile, trying not to startle her too much, seeing as she was holding a weapon fully capable of ending him. but hey, he’s been through worse. (still, though, thank the gods she barely flinches.) he takes riptide out of his pocket and uncaps it, his grip on the full sword completely natural at this point. he holds it up slowly, eyebrows raising to tell her wordlessly to follow along. “i’ve been meaning to talk to you,” the boy admits as he swings first, keeping his movements light and easy to get her comfortable. “you been holding up okay? i know camp can be a little… overwhelming.” well, that’s putting it lightly, especially right after you find out your dad is one of the BIG THREE. but if anyone understood, it was him, and she looked like she could use someone to talk to. he wish he had someone like that back then.
she had been practicing on one of the training dummys, although it was pretty boring having an opponent that didn’t fight back. it’s why she’s actually kind of relieved when she’s interrupted, mind so focused on outside presences that she easily hears his approach. “of course not, i’d love a bit of a challenge.” there’s merely an eyebrow raise as the sight of his sword, before she settles into her fighting stance. jesse gives in to her body’s instincts, letting her gut guide her in when to block or parry or strike - it feels completely natural, as if she’s been doing this for years. “it’s been - something, alright. i don’t know, a lot of this just seems familiar somehow.” but obviously she hadn’t been here before, if she had the other campers would at least know something about her.

“ i was watching ancient aliens the other night, and it made me… irrationally angry. ” it’s pouring rain, and there’s several people trapped underneath this awning, but none of them look as anxious to be out of here as the stranger elsie’s chosen to strike a conversation up with. she figures she might just need something to take her mind off whatever it is she’s gonna be late for because of his torrential downpour. “ historical inaccuracy aside, i mean, what’s the deal with them refusing to believe human beings could be capable of all these extraordinary things? we’ve always done the impossible. ”

it’s somewhat of a shock when out of nowhere someone’s talking to her, and for a moment it’s as if time freezes around her before instantly starting up again. it wasn’t really the rain that bothered her, although it was going to make her late to meet with barry, it was moreso the thunder and lightning that felt like it was almost right on top of them. she wasn’t the best with loud noises, and it must have been obvious with how she nearly flinches as lightning flashes in the sky, followed a mere seconds later by a thundering boom. she’s thankful for the distraction though, turning her head from the sky in order to properly look at the stranger. “ was it the da’vinci one that was on a couple days ago? my boyfriend puts it on just to yell at how inaccurate it is. ” she didn’t really watch, but it was hard not to absorb some of it, especially during the more unrealistic episodes. “ i’m sure aliens probably exist, but is it really more plausible that it was extraterrestrials that built all those things and not humans? ”

HE IMMEDIATELY HAS A hand over his eyes, turning as fast as he can. But he’s still in her apartment, still in his own apartment, still halfway between. This is a hallucination, it has to be. “I — I’m not, I just got home from work, I’m in MY apartment!” Barry doesn’t even know who the other woman is. There’s no explanation for this… but then he thinks of the glimpses of other people; people who shouldn’t have been there, conversations that shouldn’t be happening. “Uh — my name’s B a r r y?”

A BLINK OF HER eyes has her standing somewhere completely different, towel still the only thing keeping her COVERED. She blinks again and she’s back in her bathroom, and, keeping an eye on him to make sure he keeps his eyes covered, she grabs for her clothes. Hurriedly putting them on, she’s trying to figure out just what is going on. “ You’re also in MY apartment? I don’t — ” She knows that he’s in her bathroom but she also seems to be stuck halfway between. As soon as she has her clothes on she takes a step forward, her CURIOUSITY winning over the fact that there was a stranger in her apartment. “ You can turn around now, I’m Laurel. Where — where are you? ”

“Oh, that explains it then.” Eyebrows are raised, and Reese can’t help but feel amused and slightly confused. Is this what conversations with her was like? Maybe she owes everyone she’s ever bamboozled a gift basket. “I mean yeah, very weird. But honestly at this point weird is relative. It’s 2019. Can I ask WHY you want to know the year?”

Well this conversation was going better than she would have expected. Usually she just got strange looks, and sometimes she just got straight up ignored when she tried to find out where or when she was. Although maybe she should have expected the other to ask why she wanted to know the year, that wasn’t what one would consider a normal question. “ Oh, well that’s definitely not when I wanted to be. ” While she might not normally go immediately for telling the truth, she had the strange feeling that this woman might just believe her. “ That ones easy, I sort of travel a lot. Through time, but also space. ‘s kinda my thing. ”

And with that she freezes instantly, not even her head moving as eyes dart down to the floor. Well, shit. ❛ I definitely did say the dumb way, right? Because that was about to be a really dumb move. ❜

that… is a lot of information for elsie to absorb all at once. not that the woman’s seen the rosetta stone – it’s on display, and there’s thousands of images available online, everyone’s seen the rosetta stone – but practically everything else that comes out of her mouth afterwards. not only does jenny know what species the object belongs to, she knows their homeworld. to top it all off, she doesn’t describe herself a human, although she certainly looks it. the scientists needs to take a second to process the fact that she’s speaking to an extraterrestrial. that’s alright, she studies them for a living, so she knows they exist, but she’s never had one stroll right into her office and ask for help. hath. messaline. got it. “ it’s… nice to meet you, jenny. that won’t be necessary. not – not to say that i wouldn’t like to see it, i very much would, i know nothing about gallifreyans, but – but if you’d like me to translate these writings, all i need is the other artifacts. ”

the awkwardness that had taken her over as she spoke quickly fades when the woman accepts what she’s saying without protest, or even much confusion. with the translation circuit of her ship on the fritz, and with no idea when she was going to be able to find a way to fix it, this was really the only option she had if she wanted to find the translation anytime soon. she isn’t surprised to hear that she doesn’t know anything of her species, few seemed to, and when she had last seen her dad on messaline, he had said they were the last of them — the last of an entire species. she can’t help but smile at her, nodding as she takes her backpack off of her shoulders and pulls from it a tablet and a sheet of paper, tapping on the tablets surface to activate the writings. “ i found this in the same place, it’s a ships log, but it doesn’t have any mention of what that device does. i wrote the translation on a separate piece of paper just in case. ” it details how the hath arrived on messaline, how the fighting started and how it blew up into a civil war between the hath and human colony. from what she could tell when she read it over, it was from the commander who was in charge of the hath — before he died like so many other soldiers had. “ do you need some time to translate it? i can leave if you need me to, i won’t mind. ”
