It’s a wonderful thing my job doesnt know about this social media and it’s not linked to me in any way, so I can very loudly and proudly say. THE DOMINOS I WORK AT IS BREAKING NEW YORK STATE LAW BY NOT ALLOWING US TO GO ON ANY BREAKS, even the legally required 30 minute one were supposed to get when we work six or more hours.

Ryland wasn’t a good medic by any means, but he was a scientist who had to switch careers, so he made do. He briefly considered going into teaching, but he abandoned that idea the day Simon came home looking like that.

The man was bruised, bleeding, and in desperate need of patching up, and worst of all, he wouldn’t tell Ryland where the hell he had been or who the hell had beaten him up so severely.

Simon had always liked roughing it, from his stint in the military, to his scraps with kids at Ryland’s old college. But this, this was new. This was a special kind of damage, one that seemed less deadly and more recreational.

I think everyone on the internet needs to go outside please.

Reading PHM discourse and people are championing in the comments saying that Grace is “heavily implied” to be aroace.

Let me preface this by saying that I am queer myself and have absolutely nothing wrong with those who headcanon queer characters or are aroace themselves.

I feel, though, that arguing and fighting people over a ship because you have a headcanon is unnecessary. Yes I’ve seen the hc that Grace is aroace. But it’s not “heavily implied” in the book/movie. It’s not even mentioned. It’s barely suggested. Stratt mentions that Grace doesn’t have anyone close to him, not even a dog.

I can’t fathom how that is immediately taken as fact and proof that he’s aroace. He’s lonely. He’s supposed to be kind of a loser that’s a loner and ostracized from his peers in the science community which is why it’s such a surprise when he’s tasked with PHM.

I’m all for headcanoning non-queer characters as queer, but I think there needs to be an understanding of the source material if you’re going to die on that hill.

It is never, never heavily suggested or implied that Ryland Grace is aroace/acespec. It’s suggested that he’s a loner and doesn’t have many friends or peers. There’s literally conversation between Grace and Rocky about how he used to have a “mate”, but she left him for someone else.

Make your headcanons, do whatever you want, but you have to respect the source material. Learn the rules before you break them.
