Even when you don’t feel like it.
Just went to the grocery store with my husband and didn’t purchase any sweets! That’s major because I’ve been wanting something sweet literally since the moment I finished dinner, even though I’m not hungry and have no reason to need such a thing. I’m working on surfing urges like this. I nearly bought cake, cookies, and chocolates but I managed to remind myself that I would feel unwell if I consumed that right now and that I was working on responding differently.
I feel so proud of myself - I definitely would’ve overeaten any of those items if I’d purchased them, and I would’ve felt unwell and regretful all evening. Hell yeah.

Ok today went so much better. I’m doing so much better at actually evaluating hunger and satiety and making better food choices, it’s bonkers. Working on building this foundation now so that I can get comfier with these skills so when things get hard, it’s more second nature. Let’s goooooo!

This weekend I splurged on some pistachio butter! It’s way more sugary than I would usually like but I made some blueberry vanilla overnight oats, added protein powder to that mix, and am drizzling a tiny bit of the pistachio butter over top for breakfasts this week. Usually I’d put honey on the oats, so I figure by omitting the honey, I can just use the sweetness from the pistachio butter instead.
It doesn’t look the prettiest but dang was it tasty.

This is how the whole "Eat the Frog" strategy works. It's from that Mark Twain quote, "If your job is to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if your job is to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first." Basically the principle is having the Shitty Task You Don't Want To Do undone actually costs mental energy in and of itself, despite the fact that you're not doing it. Like, you can do 40 things to avoid the frog and feel productive, but the frog is still waiting, and it's still stressing you out just as much as ever because that frog is still uneaten. Get the frog out of the way and you're able to do those other tasks with surprisingly more energy.
We went to the lake with some friends today and it was nice but I did get sunburned despite using good sunscreen.
The indoors would never have betrayed me like this. 😭
