"So what does all this mean for marketing? In my opinion, it means that SEO isn’t dead but it’s starting to look more like traditional marketing where having a fuller picture of searcher personae is key. There’s also a need for greater focus on the technologist side of things with semantic markup becoming so important in SEO. I predict that you’ll see many SEO departments integrating with social teams and more SEOs being pulled from the content, social media and development worlds for their capabilities in those respective spaces. It’s clear to me that the future of SEO and social are intertwined, and leveraging best practices from both disciplines is the way to success."
Last Wednesday I attended the first Glass Explorer Social at Project Glass headquarters at Chelsea Market. Here's my recap (music video included).
"Marketers wondering how their optimization efforts will pay off need only look at the small chunks of hyper-relevant targeted information, which emphasizes a movement toward semantic data. The data comes from Google’s Knowledge Graph and semantic markup, Reva McEachern, global SEO supervisor at Resolution Media, explains."

Want to know what it's like to browse the Web with Google Glass? It may not be what you think. Although Glass provided a dialogue with instructions “tap and hold with two fingers,” I found the zoom and click navigation less than intuitive. You have to tap the side panel on Glass with two fingers then move your head around to view different parts of the page. For an example of what this looks like, imagine looking at wall mural. If you’re standing close to one, to see all of it you would have to turn your head up, down, left right. It’s the same thing with Glass. Swiping two fingers forward and back (or left and right) zooms out and in respectively. To me, swiping back/left to zoom in feels backwards.

“The affordances of Glass demand a new approach to data where digital knowledge and real-world exploration coexist seamlessly and unobtrusively; the browser doesn't meet that expectation…”

Did you know Twitter alters mentions when you share content from Instagram? Learn from this Metro New York case study.
A startup from Venice, Italy called GlassUp intends to complete with Google Glass with a pair of glasses that don’t include camera or video capabilities. The prototype is a “receive-only” device that lacks mechanisms for responding to text messages and emails. Its projected screen is monochrome (think old-school UNIX command line) and it places the images near the center field of vision. Click the headline above to read more.

In February of this year Google announced the #ifihadglass competition as a means to chose people who would get to purchase Glass before it is available on the market. So when people see me with Glass it comes as no surprise that they want to know what I submitted. I finally got my Glass today and I couldn't be more excited. I had a great time with my Project Glass escort Laura, who gave me a crash course in recording video. As we all know, Glass is still in beta, so when it comes to certain things like "zoom" you have to be creative. Check out this video to see how I solved the problem!
