Amanda doesn’t know her true capabilities, just as she doesn’t know whether she has hurt anyone along the way. One thing she is aware of is the blood which she has had on her hands and if that is through hurting someone innocent, there is no way the brunette witch would want or expect anyone to defend her.
So she’s had enough of the conversation and chooses to end it and be on her way. Yet her mind seeks a different course of action. It offers her little snippets of something–a memory perhaps, but she just cannot grasp enough, only the fact it concerns him. Amanda knows she would be spiting herself to walk away now, when deep down she feels–or hopes–that he might be able to offer her something that will bring clarity to the confused state she has found herself in.
“Hang on just a minute….”
It is her turn to take hold of his forearm and demand his attention.
Was clarity mentioned earlier?
–because right now, it is anything but and Amanda’s mind is turning over and over, unease and a small degree of panic are starting to build. Calm down and think….
She inhales as she chastises herself to listen to him.
“You were meant to undo the spell?..what do…..” Almost as soon as the words leave her lips, a harsh expression graces Amanda’s face. “You…you are responsible for the way I am—for my life–for everything that’s happening…don’t you see the damage you have done?–how difficult you have made my damn life?”
“My p-parents?…you know who they are?” It almost feels like something has gripped her chest and she takes a few deep breaths as she tries to digest what she is being told.
Looking at him, her jaw clenches, anger and irritation towards this man for all the times she has sleepwalked–all the times she has got into trouble–all the times she can’t remember and all the damn times she has had to move towns because of it. Even as a kid she was passed from foster family to foster family because they couldn’t cope and Amanda was left right till now not knowing why.
–so she slaps him across the face.
“You deserved that!…and you owe me..I want my life back…my full one…my memories.”
He had expected his explanation, simple and it may be, to have cleared up a few things but if anything, Amanda looks even more bewildered. There’s something desperate about the way she clutches at his arm and if she weren’t holding onto him he thinks she might run - funny how many times throughout their conversation he’d thought that very thing and yet there she still was.
Confusion slips away and ah, finally she’s putting the pieces together -
but in success of the confusion is anger.
“Difficult?” He repeats, incredulously. “I did what I was asked -”
The realization that he’s gone about things the entirely wrong way is a sudden one. They’re getting absolutely nowhere. There’s too many questions to answer and for her to understand she has to know to them all. He’s not the one whose had his mind messed with so why does he feel like he too is missing a part of the story?
“My p-parents?…you know who they are?”
You know who they are, not ‘you know them.’ It’s an interesting choice of words and each phrase similar enough that most people might have missed it. He’s not most people.
He’s dropped a bombshell on Amanda with little to no warning so he’s sure he deserves the slap that’s so benevolently given to him. It doesn’t mean he’s expecting it however, and it certainly doesn’t make his cheek hurt any less.
The smack echoes in his ears long after the deed is actually done and for a split second there’s anger leftover from the foul mood he’d been in all day but he quickly shoves it down - he’s not a wolf, he doesn’t have impulse or anger issues.
His jaw twitches painfully as he nods at her request. “It’s been a very long time since I took those memories. I can’t promise they’ll all still be there. For now why don’t you start by telling me why the hell your parents haven’t explained any of this to you yet?”
