Just going to say, there’s something to be said for this meme.

First of all, the facts are still staring us in the face. As much as Joe Biden is far from the ideal opposition candidate to Donald Trump, voting for Howie Hawkins or Jo Jorgensen, or writing in who-fucking-ever, will only provide more leeway for Trump’s core base to overpower the popular vote and the electoral college. And when Trump wins at that point, would you seriously be so FUCKING naive as to believe that we’d get another chance in 2024? The court system will be packed with right-wingers, Congress will be packed with right-wingers, and Trump will have all the leeway he needs to implement Mike Pence’s agenda and bring the Handmaid’s Fucking Tale to life.

I really don’t give a shit what you think my options are as a voter, or how we need to dismantle the two party system right away, or all of that ideal revolution shit. None of that shit will ever happen unless the people who are best positioned as an alternative to the neofascist government we have now (read: the fucking Democratic Party, and all of the diverse coalitions of people within that party who stand for left-leaning and left-wing ideals (which means all of the party, fuck your Overton Windows too)) are put in power.

Like I understand your point of view and I agree with most of it, but trump is far, far worse than Biden in so many ways. And yes, he got people into politics. Who’s to say people will bail out once he’s out of office though? Who are you to make that assumption? I didn’t know the first thing about politics in 2016 when he was elected and he got me into it, but I’m sure as hell not bailing out on my causes until they’re solved. Y’all could have been campaigning third party- for however many months Biden’s been the front runner - gaining more votes. But you didn’t. The majority of people became Team Biden on Super Tuesday. People don’t want to work for change so they delusion themselves into thinking that voting for the lesser evil will ever work to fix issues.

I don’t vote shame- I just hate the lesser of two evils trope. It’s a terrible voting logic. People who don’t think there’s anything wrong with it- are dense. You’re quite literally admitting to electing someone who is evil. And it isn’t like it’s your only option. Third parties only “can’t win” because people don’t vote for them. Y’all could have been campaigning third party- for however many months Biden’s been the front runner - gaining more votes. But you didn’t. The majority of people became Team Biden on Super Tuesday. Imagine how much monumental change we could have had if every “lesser evil” voter went out and campaigned for the Green Party since that day. It’s laziness. People don’t want to work for change so they delusion themselves into thinking that voting for the lesser evil will ever work to fix issues.

It just so happens that this election- there is no lesser evil. It is the same.

If you can’t see how many people are only into politics solely because of Trump- you’re not that active in the political world. This is my career-choice. I spend most of my time working with local politicians and constituents- and you would not believe the amount of Biden voters that genuinely believe that the fight ends on Election Day. They won’t be with us. They won’t be there fighting for these things. I’m sure some people will stay. People like me. People like you. But many will leave and we will fail due to that. Politics drains people. And people who aren’t educated enough to realize how broken the country is- will run as soon as the threats stop being so clear.

Getting Trump out doesn’t end the fight against fascism. Biden will only worsen the situation- and help another fascist gain power. Or become one himself.

Just going to say, there’s something to be said for this meme.

First of all, the facts are still staring us in the face. As much as Joe Biden is far from the ideal opposition candidate to Donald Trump, voting for Howie Hawkins or Jo Jorgensen, or writing in who-fucking-ever, will only provide more leeway for Trump’s core base to overpower the popular vote and the electoral college. And when Trump wins at that point, would you seriously be so FUCKING naive as to believe that we’d get another chance in 2024? The court system will be packed with right-wingers, Congress will be packed with right-wingers, and Trump will have all the leeway he needs to implement Mike Pence’s agenda and bring the Handmaid’s Fucking Tale to life.

I really don’t give a shit what you think my options are as a voter, or how we need to dismantle the two party system right away, or all of that ideal revolution shit. None of that shit will ever happen unless the people who are best positioned as an alternative to the neofascist government we have now (read: the fucking Democratic Party, and all of the diverse coalitions of people within that party who stand for left-leaning and left-wing ideals (which means all of the party, fuck your Overton Windows too)) are put in power.
