#had my first TR (teaching resident) shift today and it went well #had 1 rapid in dialysis and the patient ended up intubated #punted off an unnecessary POMA (basically medical clearance for a planned procedure)#blocked an admission that surgery was trying to dump on medicine service #got random calls for (thankfully) just curbsides #only 1 formal consult thank god #overall not a bad day and I was chilling the last 2 hours while waiting for the night TR to arrive #I believe in the cloud system so I’m hoping this means I’m for sure a white cloud lol #now omw home to change and go to the graduation party for the third years #except I’m working again tomorrow so no drinking for me #really just going for vibes and to be entertained by drunk colleagues lol

I feel like I need to share this because idk if Europeans are familiar with the presence of Aldi in the US, but at least especially in my area they’ve been growing a lot recently. Like Aldi bought out some local failing grocery chains where I live (Louisiana) and have opened Aldis in all these somewhat rural communities and small towns, which for the record I’m fine with

But as a result of this they are advertising a lot more in my area and also in many cases, the people in these areas have never been confronted with Aldi or any European grocery store. So the ads that Aldi is pushing out to its new US customer base feature a cowboy shopping at Aldi who is explaining to new Aldi customers how Aldi works. Like this cowboy is explaining you gotta put a quarter in the shopping cart and why there are very little name brands. A cowboy is how they want to reach their American customer base. #I’m currently on a dialysis elective and had a scare in the unit earlier today #I was finishing a note when the nurses noticed a patient was breathing strangely #so I got up to put on gloves and just as I got to the bed a nurse says ‘there’s no pulse’#so I looked at the monitor while also checking for a pulse #I didn’t feel anything either so I lowered the bed rail and started compressions #I maybe did 5 before another nurse brought a back board and had to stop so they could put it under the patient #and was about to resume compressions when the patient became responsive again #by then other help arrived (they called it on the overhead) and we continued to monitor the patient and get some labs #I have no idea what actually happened but maybe they didn’t actually lose a pulse bc 5 compressions don’t do shit XD #an attending mentioned maybe it was just a very weak pulse and their glucose was just super low but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#the patient was fine after and back to normal but the resident taking care of them joked that my 5 compressions saved them lmfao #legit thought we were gonna have to run a code in the dialysis unit rip me #with other patients watching like 👀#this was by far the weirdest experience I’ve had at the hospital and I’ll be laughing about it for some time #dl

it's a shame that the trope of a character who looks 12 but is actually 300 years old is usually just used for ick fanservice because on a paper i think the psychology of a person stuck in permanent childhood has a lot of interesting story potential. unfortunately i would not trust a fandom with that character with a 100ft pole.
