Kylo never killed Rey. That is true.

But he tried. He tried so hard. He threw her into a tree, he fought her physically, he had her up against the edge of a cliff.

“You need a teacher” was not a request of love. It was the last taunt of a villain who knew he was out of strength; who knew it would be easier to subdue this girl than kill her. Who wanted to rub in her face- even after being almost beaten by her- the differences; that she was untrained. Kylo Ren offered a chance for Rey to turn to the Dark Side- or die.

If Rey had not used the Force, she would have been pushed off the cliff.

Not only is it, frankly, dishonest to assume that he wanted her to live as she was, it’s unfair to Rey. Rey, at the last second, used her ingenuity and unique strength to beat a man who was a decade older than her and had tortured her just a few hours previously.

Don’t act like Kylo gave Rey an easy way out. Don’t pretend he allowed her to win. 

Be honest.

Respect what Rey and her victory mean to women everywhere.

I kinda doubt he was trying to kill her. Snoke gave him explicit instructions to bring her to him, and as other people have pointing out, he never aimed his lightsaber at HER, just used powerful blows against her own lightsaber, as though they were attempts to knock it out of her hands.

I think he was definitely trying to subdue her, since the beginning of their fight.

And yeah, love really has nothing to do with their interaction in this.

That’s also a fair interpretation. I kind of feel like… he realized how strong she was, and he knew it would essentially be a battle where she died or she came with him (or, of course, she kicked his ass, but…) so I do think you’re right in that he may have just been trying to subdue her without actually killing her.

Did we watch the same movie? Kylo wasn’t trying to kill her. He didn’t WANT to kill her. He did want to train her. He could’ve easily just shoved her over the edge, but he didn’t. He could have easily struck her on her face or anywhere on her body, but he didn’t. All his moves – aside from throwing her against the tree, which I believe was again meant to subdue her, not to kill her – were defensive. He could have killed her before she ignited her lightsaber. He didn’t. He could have killed her or even injured her badly a number of times, but he didn’t.

J.J. Abrams says Star Wars will get an openly gay character

Director says it's time to be inclusive

J.J. Abrams, the director behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, confirmed that there would be openly gay characters in future franchise installments, according to The Daily Beast.

During a pre-Oscars event at his Bad Robot HQ in Los Angeles, Abrams said said that he wants Star Wars to be a more inclusive universe, then referenced LGBTQ community.

“To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility,” Abrams said. “So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world.”

WhenThe Force Awakens was released, one of the most popular fan-paired couples to come out of it was between Finn and Poe. Fans have made it clear that they’re more than open to the idea of having an openly gay character in the films. Now according to Abrams, it’s just a matter of time until one officially appears.

after reading @ohtze‘s essay on rey and kylo ren (death and the maiden–very interesting), i suddenly went haywire on a hades/persephone kind of thing. ren is holding six pomegranate seeds. now, this is not my style of art, so this took me approximately 15 hours, probably more, idk. i suggest reading that essay, regardless of if you ship reylo or not. ignore the many mistakes and pretend rey is standing on a ledge so she’s equal to kylo ren in height, lmao.

So there’s that post with Kylo’s costume and we can see there that he wears suspenders. Actually it’s quite useful since he wears that thick belt on top of all these layers of clothes and armor. But. Nevertheless. Also, Hux has nightmares about these suspenders.
