speaking of romances that reject the status quo, that's part of why I liked fitzmolly so much. not that they were THAT radical, but they weren't assigned each other by the king that ruled fitz's entire life, they chose each other...they were literally two best friends and they loved each other and fitz didn't want to get married off to some noble lady or get pulled into magical intrigue, he wanted to be with molly nosebleed :(
