Spark Mandrill - MegaMan X
MEGAMAN WEEK!
So we’ve had enough of Mega Man. I think 2 weeks was enough.
Time for something COMPLETELY different.
Mega Man X :P
Told you…there’s an X at the end
Anyways! This music is pretty badass and I really cant short sell it as anything less. It’s an SNES game with a friggen electric guitar, drums, and bass. It’s a standard rock setup. Because it’s all done through the SNES sound processor, it’s ALL KINDS of chiptunsey and electronic.
Juuust the way I like it.
Also this guy’s durpey face makes me LOL a lot :D
And that my friends
Is the beginning of Mega Man X week :D
Mega Man 10 – Sheep Man
MEGAMAN WEEK!
Yes…Sheep Man.
Alright, when I first saw that this was one of the bosses for the new Mega Man game, I couldn’t help but laugh. How desperate are these designers getting if all they can come up with is…Sheep…Man…
Oh no, he might bleet me to death, I’m so scared. He was about as difficult as you would think a Sheep Man would be. The rest of the game…quite a bit harder, but this guy was just a joke.
So enough ripping on Sheep man. Time to talk about the music
The thing I really like about this song, is that it sounds like it was right off the NES, and it was only made a few years ago. It’s awesome to see that composers can keep up the same caliber of work on an older 8-bit MIDI composer.
I’m a huge fan of chiptunes music, and I love to hear it still being made
So long story short, I <4 Mega Man!
:D
Mega Man 5 – Charge Man
MEGAMAN WEEK!
I would have to say this one took place right before the beginning of the Mega Man game downfall. There was something about Mega Man 5 that was really endearing. Something about it really appealed to me and kept it fresh. Even then, I could tell this was the beginning of the downfall.
But enough bad talk of Mega Man. This game was AWESOME. Especially this level. The thing I remember most about this level is that it stuck closely to the train theme. The enemies were locomotion based, the level itself was a train, hell, and even the boss was a train. I’ve never really been a huge fan of trains, but something about this level really caught my eye.
But back to the music! The tone of this song is really upbeat and I love how the beat sticks to the same sort of tempo you’d hear while on a train. Sticking close to the theme again.
Again…well done Capcom
Mega Man 6 – Knight Man Stage
MEGAMAN WEEK!
So here we are at some of the less popular Mega Man games.
A lot of people say that 6 was the beginning of the end for Mega Man. 6, 7, and 8 made Capcom seem a bit desperate. The boss designs were lazy and uncreative, the level layouts were mostly just copy and pastes of previous levels in the series, and the unique features from each level didn’t really stand out.
Even though the games didn’t hold up as well as the series went on, the music still did. This song kinda feels like this shoulda been a final fantasy adventuring theme rather than a Mega Man song. To me, this really sounds like something you’d hear in a cave level of some fantasy theme video game. So since this guy’s theme is all about Knights and fantasy… It looks like it first in pretty well.
Good show Capcom.
Mega Man 2 - Metal Man (Stainless mix)
So another song from Mega Man 2 eh? Looks like Mega Man 2 was pretty good…or something…I guess
SARCASMITWASAWESOMEGUYS!
So I also had to throw another remix into the…mix. Mega Man music is just so remixable it’s not even funny. It’s serious business! :P
So this was always my favorite level to play on in Mega Man 2. Maybe it was the conveyer belt, or maybe it was the levels design, or probably, you know…the music… or something. I can’t really put my finger on it but this was defiantly my favorite level to play through. Every once and a while I will turn on the game and just play through Metal Man just for kicks.
Oh, and the boss fight is pretty awesome. It was simple and pretty easy, but I liked the bosses weapon.
Actually, I think I know what it is that made me love this boss and this level so much, it was the sound of firing those buzz saws. That 8bit little high bitched screech sounded so cool.
I remember it fondly.
Oh
So
Fondly
Wood Man – Megaman 2
MEGAMAN WEEK!
So I didn’t really wrap up Mega Man week cuz I was having too much fun with it. So hell, I’m just gona stick with it till I get sick of it, or you get sick of it and I actually care enough to pay attention to your complaints.
So to continue Mega Man week… time period….month?...thing.
Wood Man
For being just another run of the mill boss (hah, get it… mill…like saw mill…cuz he’s wood… GET IT!), Wood Man has a pretty epic theme song. Its another one of the many many Mega Man songs that gets youru blood pumping. It really gets you in the mood to shoot some robots.
Yeah that was pretty lame; but hey wood man isn’t. I mean look at him. He’s…wood, and he throws leafs at you. Take that Mega Man, bet you didn’t see that coming.
Ok yeah he’s pretty lame, but at least his theme is awesome
Mega Man 2 – Dr. Wily Stage 1
MEGAMAN WEEK!
I almost feel obligated to post this one. I would have to say this is one of the most remixed and most iconic songs from the megaman universe.
I’m gona go super nerd mode here for a minute, and dive into this thing head first if you don’t mind.
This song is really epic. If you just sit back and listen to it, it sort of tells a story. It almost sounds like the notes are supposed to be words, and there are supposed to be lyrics to this song.
I always loved playing this level because it was the beginning of the end. It was a triumphant tune that was rewarding for all the bosses you’ve downed, but warned you that there was more to come…
…so much more.
Then again, maybe I’m just overthinking this one. :P
Air Man (techno) – Mega Man Anniversary
MEGAMAN WEEK!
ok I had to get a remix in here eventually. There are so many remixes for Mega Man music out there that it just blows my mind.
Let’s talk about the source song for a moment though. Air Man is from Mega Man 2. Mega Man 2 is known for being one of the hardest games on the NES, period. I don’t remember ever finishing it as a kid, and I still have a hard time getting all the way through this game.
Wiley is such a bitch.
Like many of the other Mega Man games for the NES, I never owned it. I had more than a few friends who owned the Mega Man games, so we would always play them together, and see who could get further.
This is probably why I video games are only really fun to me when I have someone to play with.
Yay community :D
Needle Man - Mega Man 3 OST
MEGAMAN WEEK!
Ok I wanted to wait a bit longer to do this, but fuck it!
IT’S MEGAMAN WEEK (in all caps)
I really get a kick out of all the Megaman games. They’re so simple, yet so complex; the perfect idea of easy to play, touch to master.
I picked this song for today because it’s a huge nostalgia bomb for me. The first Megaman game I actually played was Megaman 3. To be honest, I really didn’t like it at first. I felt like it was too colorful and too busy. The themes didn’t really match up and the characters were uninteresting, especially Needleman.
Come on Capcom, Needleman? Really?
It took me a while to get used to it, but by the time I had to stop playing it, I just had no urge to pick it up again.
Much much later, a friend of mine urged me to play Megaman 4. The moment I picked up that controller I loved the game. I really can’t explain exactly why, but it just grabbed me.
I gave the others a chance and eventually decided that I loved the series as a whole.
But I still don’t like 3.
Megaman 9 - Concrete Man Something I've always loved about Megaman music, is that they are never simple. The melody is always complex and all over the place. There really is something to Megaman. Something...magical. There's something about his music that really can't be covered in one song, so expect many many more songs from Megaman from me. After all, Megaman was originally named Rockman in Japan. His partner was named Roll... one of his enemies was bass, and his dog Treble... get it... like music...
GET IT!?
Super Mario 64 - Piranha Plant Lullaby
Trapeyest trap song of omg it's a TRAP!
For all of you out there who have played Mario 64, you know what I'm talking about. For those of you who haven't played it, let me tell you, this song meant DEATH!
So there you are, walking around mario world, minding your own business, enjoying the awesome music. Out of nowhere, the music cross fades into this peaceful melody. Of course you think "oh nothings wrong, everything's happy, this song shows no signs of impending danger". Then you see a cute sleeping colorful plant. Minding your own business, you decide to saunter past it.
Yes saunter. I said it, deal with it.
Then BAM! Out of nowhere, the music snaps back to normal and this plant thing starts chompin away at you with its razor sharp teeth. Where the hell did this plant get teeth that sharp anyway!?
What the hell mario world, what the actual hell!
*angry face*
Black Cat - Pump It Up
So I’m not posting this song cuz it’s exceptionally great, or even all that good. In fact, the more I listen to this song, it’s actually kinda terrible.
BUT I LOVE IT!
Why? Nostalgiagasm! That’s why. I used to play this song over and over every time I stepped onto the Pump It Up pad. It was an awesome time every time.
Thank you Korea for making some of the strangest, yet most awesome, and defiantly most memorable pop music evaAAAAAr!
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World - We Are Sex Bob-omb
So this isn't really a video game soundtrack song, but come on. It's close enough.
Scott Pilgrim kinda really gave the gamer culture something to stand behind. It sorta created a good chunk of the gaming culture. So I'd say we owe it some props.
otherwise, this movie's soundtrack is just pretty fantastic and you should check it out if you haven't already!
Super Mario Bros 2 OC ReMix
because a certain co-worker of mine happen to get this song stuck in my head, I feel like harassing all you peoples with it as well. I know I posted this one before, but hell it’s too addicting not to re-post.
Plus this version is cool.
I remember this game being all kinds of fun. I’d always pick Luigi cuz his jump was funny and awkward. If you know me, I love me some awkward, so why not love weegie.
Fight - Punch Out Wii
Today’s song I guess you could say is a cover. The original song was the fight theme for the SNES Super Punch Out. This cover, is the fight theme for the Wii’s Super Punch Out. Updated game needed an updated soundtrack. So it’s a cover, for the remake.
Video game’s always need music to add a great atmosphere. Atmosphere is a pretty broad term, so let me go a little more in depth here.
When you hear this song, you can practically hear a crowd cheering in the background, the exchange of blows in the boxing ring, and maybe even an old guy yelling “Get em’ Rockey”
that...that right there is Atmosphere. It puts you in the perfect mood for a boxing match. Not to mention the horns are AWESOME!
When a video game soundtrack is done properly, this is what it sounds like.
Thanks Nintendo for making yet another masterpiece.
Megaman X - Sigma Battle - Rockman X remix
If this was the song that everyone woke up to in the morning, the world would be a much more ambitious place. This song REALLY gets you going!
This is the theme song from the last boss battle against Megaman X. Every time I fought Sigma I'd have to listen to this stupid song over and over. This is one of those looping songs that just get to you. It gets you pumped, but WOAH! Enough is enough.
Over the years, this song has become the "LET'S DO THIS!" song between me and my brother. I really don't know what more to say, just listen to this song and get FRIGGEN PUMPED
...and annoyed if its on a loop.
