Finally checked off "get a library card" today! It only took uhhhh almost two years :x

Four of the books in the left-hand pile came in from a store that was having a "buy a romance book and we'll match a percentage of the cost to give to a local bookstore" sale, which sounded good to me!

There were So Many, and I don't generally read romance*, so this was definitely a shot in the dark for me. Has anyone read any of them?

I'm reading Perfume Story of a Murder and every new chapter introduces some baroque frenchman with a unique fairy tale problem that can only by solved my smelling it really good. Enjoying it quite a bit.

In theatre you get so used to there being disappointing revivals of shows you like that you kinda develop an attitude like "eh whatever, someone else will do it better in a couple years". It's hard to take that attitude with movies because most things only get adapted to film once, so everything the film does wrong feels much more permanent . But when it's, like, the Odyssey, it's more like theatre. who cares if Christopher Nolans ego project is disappointing, there will be another adaptation soon and it will do many things better. it may not come from Hollywood but it will come if you keep an eye out for it
