James 1: 13-14 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.
Everyone wants to blame someone else for their problems. There's been a whole world of people throughout history who love to blame God for this, like we're just characters in a game that's not fun and we want to stop playing. It is all our problem though. It doesn't matter that you didn't ask to be born the way you are, as a sinner. It just is the way it is. It is reflected in our hopeless behaviour. We never have anything to offer anyone either, in our own strength. How could we blame anyone else for who we are and what we do? I have been seeking God to put my desires to death and to give me new affections, for quite some time. He has been doing these things, and I am so thankful. The more we walk in obedience, the less that satan can tempt us with things. The more we detach ourselves from our own lusts and desires, the easier it is to walk with God in reliance. God is encouraging me that He has His hand on me and has been leading me, according to His will and for His glory. He has kept me from things that are not for me, and enabled me to be strong and faithful about the things that He does. He has allowed me to stand strong in the truth and see how it is supported by how He has been leading me in humiliity in the Word, and actually it goes hand in hand. He has been enabling me to speak the truth, and to stand up to those who don't understand. He has changed my affection so I don't dwell on desires, and find them easily rejected, as I am looking to walk in reliance on Him.
Lord God in Heaven, thank you for your provision. Thank you for how you give us the conviction we need to go to you in faithful repentance, all the time, and that you are ready to be the One who doesn't sin, who saves us from our sinful selves. We can't blame you for who we are, truly, but the proud person still tries to. I pray that you do the miracles of humility in the hearts and minds of the proud, that you will break down the barriers in any of us that keep us from trusting in you completely and seeing what you are doing in each of our lives, as we are humble before you.
