Well, my counterpoint was pretty much “racism got more than one meaning to it just like fucking got more than one meaning to it” and while your point may be valid, it doesn’t excuse the oppression and power.

Racism is not just “racial prejudice”… it’s all of the above. Just like how “fucking” is not only vulgar way of describing … well, everything.

Racism is by definition just racial prejudice. Using it however you want because you feel like it is fine, however it is still wrong.

If you want to refer to racial oppression, just call it racial oppression.

You don’t refer to a house by calling it a brick.

It can be called a “brick house”, tho. Okay, I like to do word play, so let me focus here.

What you’re doing is just normalizing racism, or whitewashing it so it can “level the playing field”, which isn’t really what I advocate for. 

Sure, racism on a person-to-person level can exist, but 4 out of 5 times, we’re talking about the bigger picture, not zooming into a brick on the house.

It’s like me opting to not acknowledge the other problems that this value is coming from a person who has the option of painting herself in a way that can be perceived as less threatening. Otherwise, she would be comfortable saying something other than. If she truly understood, she wouldn’t say things as much as part of her mission statement.

Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (born Chris Wayne Jackson on March 9, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player. Abdul-Rauf played basketball for Gulfport High School before enrolling at Louisiana State University to play college basketball for the Tigers. 

His nine-year NBA career ended when he refused to stand for the National Anthem, although he was considered as one of the greatest free-throw shooters in the history of the game. He had only a single miss in the 1993-94 season. With his protest he sparked controversy just like Colin Kaepernick did. The only difference between them is that Kaepernick has a huge support from the people and Media and Mahmoud didn’t have any. Has anything changed since then? Not much, but at least those who stand up against the injustice are not silenced.
