I have not one but TWO horse gimmick blogs! But both have been fairly inactive due to Life.....

Sometimes I feel like part of the racing community forgets how many eyes are rightfully on us during Derby week. Because yeah them suspending the trainer might be an overabundance of caution. But the amount of bad press that would rightfully come out if anything happened on Oaks or Derby day with that dude if we another horse was lost under weird circumstance?

Yeah no they made the right call.

Like I feel for the dude but now ain’t the time to be willfully ignorant.

And even if this wasn’t Derby week they should. They should be treating this with a bundance of caution. Because something seems weird.

I agree and was glad to see see them do something about it.

I have had this feeling deep down, that if it were any other race.. Preakness, Belmont, Breeders Cup, it may not be as huge of a deal.

But I sincerely think if we have one fatal accident, and maybe even a non-fatal one, happen on screen during the Kentucky Derby, that it will be the beginning of the end for the sport. It is the only race the entire nation watches, except for maybe the Belmont with a Triple Crown on the line. In this current age, the sport can't afford a single clipped heel or bleeding lip on a national stage.

To be honest I think the best way to make the race as safe as it can be, is to limit the starters to 12 or 14. 20 is far too many for one race. But that will never happen again because of potential stud values.

This horse wasn’t even supposed to be in the race. Horse number 20 (can’t remember it’s name) dropped out the day before for whatever reason, and Rich Strike was just barely able to sneak a spot into the derby before the deadline. Not to mention that this was just some garbage $30,000 horse that didn’t have any kind of impressive breeding (yes I am aware $30k is still a lot, but for a Kentucky Derby horse, that’s chump change). He was the second biggest upset in the history of the Derby, with one other horse (Donerail) winning with 91-1 odds before in 1913 (Which, for reference, I’m pretty sure Donerail with his 91-1 odds still holds the record for the worst odds in the history of the race. Just for context of how shit Rich Strike’s 80-1 odds were. Not THE worst, but definitely up there).

I am in love with this shit horse who wasn’t even supposed to be there, had some of the worst odds in the history of the race, and had the worst starting position who completely destroyed all of the favorites to win. Watching him come up to first right at the last second was THRILLING.

Medina Spirit Disqualified From 2021 Kentucky Derby Win, Baffert Given 90-Day Suspension - Horse Racing News | Paulick Report

On Feb. 21, 296 days after the 2021 Kentucky Derby, Medina Spirit has been disqualified from his win by Kentucky Horse Racing Commission stewards.

The Fanfare of Adolesence anime has a new trailer out and we finally get to see the horses! They don't look too bad and while brief, the running animation doesn't look completely horrendous. I think they will be better then the Attack on Titan horses at least. XD

If Baffert weren't under a lot of scrutiny before, he definitely will be now.

Medina Spirit collapsed during a 5 furlong workout at Santa Anita and tragically had already passed before the vet could reach him.

They are already planning a ton of drug testing on his hair and blood, as well as testing his heart.

RIP Medina Spirit. You were a great horse regardless of your trainers actions. You deserved better.

So there's now another brand new horse racing anime coming out, and the first one that appears that it may actually be good! It seems to take itself seriously and the little bit of animation available in the above trailer looks very well done, though it has yet to show any animated horses. But there is a lot of beautiful real-life horses in the trailer!

The series is called "Fanfare of Adolescence" and I assume it's Horse Racing's turn to take on the Yuri on Ice formula.

"The story takes place at a horse racing academy that trains boys to become jockeys. The three-year academy is very competitive, and those who wish to enter must not only pass an academic test but a physical and fitness test as well. Yū Arimura is a former popular idol who becomes enamored with horse racing after seeing it for the first time, and wants to join the academy. Shun Kazanami was raised on an island, and only experienced horse races through radio broadcasts growing up. Amane comes from a high-class family in England, and his father is a former jockey. Amane has previously attended horse racing academies in various countries. The show follows these three 15-year-old boys and others at the academy."

The series is being animated by Lay-Duce, produced by Aniplex, and the music is being done by the same composer from Attack on Titan! While it doesn't have an official release date yet, it's due out sometime in spring of 2022. If I see any more trailers, especially ones with animated horses, I'll be sure to post it!
