A small tatted necklace I made as a gift.

I found the rose pattern, and a lovely person in the lace coven discord translated it. I directly attached the chains and beads to make the dangly part. Very pleased with it overall, but I wish I'd gotten around to making the earrings for it

Meditations on Memory, 5 x 9 x 5 (cm), nickel silver and copper, 2026

For this piece, I drew inspiration from my memories of playing the violin growing up. Particulatly, one of my favorite pieces I ever performed: Meditation from Thais.

I started to think more about memory itself. I thought about how memory decays and morphs itself over time. From that decay often comes rose-tinted nostalgia and a fondness that glosses over the struggles. This idea echoes the cycle of nature in which new growth comes from the death and decay of old life. I aimed to merge the intangible ideas of memory with the physical ideas of nature. To do this I reimagined nostalgia as a flower blooming from the remains of memory. For my piece,

I took the physical reminders I have of my memory, the physical sheet music for Meditation, and the Violin itself and “decayed” them, by allowing for the etching process to eat around the design and lead to imperfections. From that morphed image, blossoms of Forget-Me-Nots “bloomed” from it as individual flowers soldered around the box.

This piece has been my background project on and off for 19 months and it's finally finished! Lace stats below the readmore

The pattern is "Wiosna 2016" by Renulek. The design is 17 rounds and nearly 52,000 double stitches.

I worked the doily in DMC Cébélia size 30 and the final piece is ~19inches across.

I started this project in May 2024 and got to round 9 in January 2025 when I had to cut off 6 rounds due to a mistake I made early on in round 3 or 4. I finished tatting in the last week of December 2025.

It took me a bit over an hour to block it and over 150 pins!

By far my largest project to date.
