If there’s anything that Peter still hasn’t really gotten used to when it comes to the whole hero thing, it’s people being AMAZED by the sight of him. He knows he’s got fans, which is awesome, it’s always really, really cool to see people excited to watch him swing by, or ask for an autograph or selfie. He’s talked to little kids that look up to Spider-Man ( which is CRAZY to him, he remembers when he was that little kid at the Stark Expo ), people from his school, and adults that think he’s cool, so it’s not really anything new, but when the other comes across him on the GROUND, coughing and sputtering with broken ribs, still reacting like that….yeah he didn’t exactly expect that one.
“Uh– yeah, yeah, I’m him– that’s– that’s ME-” He wishes he could be at least a little more energetic. He’s USUALLY lively and fun when he meets people in the suit, showing off with backflips and different types of webbing, but NOW he’s just…a complete mess. He hadn’t been counting on anyone FINDING him here, or watching him trudge back to his apartment to try and fix his own broken bones. The other looks worried, and Peter doesn’t really make much of an effort to move, except for tightening the arm he wraps around his torso– it’s not helping much at all.
“Oh– uh, okay-” He nods his head, he really just asked the question to DISTRACT from the fact that he’s injured. “No– uh, really, it’s– it’s fine. You don’t have to miss work ‘cause of me or anything, and I– uh, I CAN’T really get any help anyways, but I don’t need it ‘cause I’m totally–” Another cough. “Fine! Yeah I’m Spider-Man, I was just– uh, HANGING OUT here, I was gonna get– get going anyways-”
arden didn’t want to embarrass himself, which may be a stupid thing to be thinking at a time like this, but it was unfortunately a thought that kept popping up in his head. he wanted to seem casual, COOL, yet here he is, stammering over every word, hands trembling under the weight of relentless anxiety. is it bad to say that he thinks he may be sick?
he knows it would be easier to leave, to go to work & then have a STORY for the time he met spider - man, but he can’t actually bring himself to do it. minus the hero shtick, he sees himself in the other’s position. too many times as a kid did he find himself injured with no one to help & nowhere to go. maybe the boy behind the suit has a different tale, but, either way, this? — this has to be LONELY. so, he shakes his head NO. “ i’ll help, really. you, uhm — everything i do is up to you. you can keep the mask on the entire time. obviously. but, uhm .. you’re hurt. ”
hands are placed in his lap at the end of his spiel in hopes to cover up how bad they’re shaking. “ is there, uhm — any place i can take you? or .. anything i can do? i’m not a doctor, but i’ve gotten just about every injury you can think of. i — i have really shitty luck. ”
