Hi! This is a place for me, @mymblesbuir, to blog about my OCs for an as-yet-unwritten original work — which is still very much in the early planning stages, so all details are subject to change!
Here's a brief introduction to the characters you'll see here (mostly under the cut)
Suzanne "Suzy" Masters — Our protagonist. She/her, mid 30s, demi-aroace lesbian. Had a troubled youth. Kind of a shitty person now but (soon to be) trying to improve.
Danica "Nic" Harding (née Cox) — Suzy's ex-best-friend and love interest. She/her, mid 30s, bisexual. Married young after getting pregnant, later amicably divorced.
Indrani Gupta — Danica's current girlfriend. She/they, early 30s, genderqueer lesbian. Partially Deaf. Very outgoing. Horse girl (gender neutral).
Gemma Harding — Danica's daughter. She/her, mid teens, mostly straight. Lives with her Dad and their cat (Nic is allergic). Falling in with the wrong crowd.
Revᵈ Harlan [Surname TBD] — Local inclusive church minister. He/him, late 50s, straight ace. Wheelchair user. Doing his best to improve the community.
Irving "Irv" Caruso — Friend of Indrani and part of Harlan's congregation. He/him, late 30s, gay, trans, bear. Stay-at-home Dad. Very outgoing.
Desmond "Des" Webb — Irving's husband, also churchgoer and friendly with Indrani. He/him, early 40s, bisexual. Popular restaurant chef. Kind and generous.
Callum [Surname TBD] — Negative influence in Suzy's life. He/him, late 20s, straight. Manipulative bastard with no morals.
Plus a few I'm only likely to mention in relation to the above:
Dave Harding — Gemma's Dad, Danica's ex-husband
Melinda "Min" Caruso-Webb — Des & Irv's young daughter
Thomas Masters — Suzy's shitty Dad
Amira Masters (née Karim) — Suzy's dead Mum
Malika Karim — Suzy's elderly Sitti (grandma)
Does anyone have any advice for trying to figure out a sense of clothing style for OCs?
I have a tendency to settle on one specific outfit for them and then always picture them wearing that, like a cartoon character, but — unless they're a very specific type of person who buys lots of copies of the same outfit to wear constantly — that's not exactly realistic!
I just don't know how to get from that one image I have of them, to an idea of what other clothes they might go for as well...
