Grace goes to his and Simon’s home first thing and they both bust in the door while Simon’s streaming (he’s been getting back into it, slower and more sad, but still there) and they have this incredible emotional reunion and it’s beautiful but meanwhile chat experiences the most insane whiplash learning:

Simon and Grace having an emotional reunion and Rocky seeing a camera and going “hello Earth! I am roooccckkyy!”
But Grace doesn’t have the translator so it’s just “🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶!”
Rocky goes on a walk on the beach with Grace and listens to him lament that his attempts at flirting with Simon have been unsuccessful. Rocky, successfully mated and happy, offers to give him advice.
"Rock Grace gave Simon bad, question."
"Rock? I didn't give him a rock."
After a short silence, Grace looks to his right and Rocky isn't there. He looks behind him and Rocky has stopped walking.
"No rock, question. Grace want Simon be mate and no rock, question. Bad bad bad bad. Bad Grace," he frantically says.
"Hey, calm down, it's not a big deal."
"Insult. Insult. Insult. Insult."
"Are you insulting me right now?"
"No rock insult Simon."
"Oh, okay, I see."
"Simon nice. Simon safe. Simon make good mate. Grace want Simon mate. Grace no give rock. Grace dumb. Grace bad. Simon never speak Grace again. Simon need good mate. Grace make bad mate. Grace–"
"I said, calm down! Giving a rock to someone isn't a thing for us. That's not how flirting works for humans."
"Rocky help Grace choose good rock. Simon accept Grace mate very fast. Rocky gave Adrian best rock. Rocky and Adrian together decades."
"I'm not giving him a rock."
"Rocky help Grace chose rock, statement."
Silence. They are having a stare-down. Eventually, Grace sighs.
"Fine! But don't come crying when you're proven wrong."
"Impossible."
They spend an entire afternoon looking for a good pebble. Rocky is extremely picky but at least Grace's picks seem to get better and better. Maybe in another life he would have made a decent Eridian.
That's how he ends up standing in front of Simon awkwardly and bashfully, trying to muster the courage to give him his rock.
"Why is Rocky just looming in the doorway instead of coming in?" Simon asks, confused by the weird atmosphere in the room
Grace was really hoping he wouldn't bring that up.
"Just ignore him," he says with an awkward laugh.
He turns around to look at Rocky and mouths to him to leave with a sign of the head. He only takes two steps back so as to be partially hidden behind one of the door frames. Why is he like this? When he turns back, Simon is looking between him and the Eridian with a raised eyebrow. Wait, did he see their exchange? He saw it, didn't he? Oh no.
"Okayyy," Simon says, sceptical.
Grace has never been more thankful for someone taking pity on him in his life.
"Anyway! I found a cool rock and thought of you. Here," Grace frankly says as he hands him his courtship present.
Simon looks at him, stunned. His eyes travel from his face to the pebble Grace is handing him. He carefully picks it up and inspects it. He watches with an entranced look on his face as the light reflecting on the surface makes it change colours. He turns it around to see all the shades it can offer. Grace can't take his eyes off him. Simon is treating it like he just got handed a precious gem. Like he wants to really take in its whole beauty. Grace is really starting to get nervous now. It wasn't supposed to be serious. Before this, if Simon were to tell him that he doesn't like it, Grace wouldn't have really cared. But now, he would be heartbroken. He can hear a whisper behind him saying, "Inspecting. Good good good." Simon's eyes finally meet Grace's, behind the rock, and he lowers it down to really look at him.
"Thanks, Grace. I love it," he says with a soft voice and gentle smile that reaches his eyes.
Grace feels his knees almost give out at the words. He also looks so touched and happy with something so simple.
"Don't mention it. I'll give you all the cool rocks I find. Um, if you want that is!" he stutters, flustered.
"Yeah. I'd like that."
"Okay, great! I'll do that then! Um, glad you like it. Okay, um, bye."
He speed-walks his way out of the door and almost trips on Rocky. Once he's outside and out of Simon's field of vision, he crouches down and buries his face in his hands. His face is burning, his heart is threatening to beat out of his chest and he can’t believe that it worked kinda.
well maybe you should blearily wake up at 5:08 in the pre-dawn light and find the sleeping soft tiny mammal body of your cat just inches from your head like a miracle too beautiful for speech, and you should rustle one hand out from your blankets to rub fingertip circles across the warm eggshell dome of her little velvet-wrapped skull and on the bristly patches just where the cups of her ears begin, and as she inclines her head into your fingers and purrs without ever opening her little eyes you should feel a love so tender that you understand how that love could have reached out from the fireside into the inky spangled nights long gone to reach her, and then you'll feel better

I saw someone hc that colt would kill spiders for ryland and ive never been more saddened by a mischaracterization. You're telling me the man who refused to kill a cockroach and lured it out of the house would kill spiders? No way
my personal hc is that colt would simply set them free, as where ryland would spend 30 minutes of chasing it until he kills it with something random then spends another 15 minutes until he lifts the shoe and throws it out
