1899 and Black Silence: plagiarism or not plagiarism?
The funniest thing on the internet right now is the accusation of plagiarism towards 1899, and I say it sarcastically.
Yesterday my boyfriend sent me the Reddit post about Mary Cagnin accusing 1899 and Netflix of plagiarism, not only because I am a fan of the series but because I am studying Communications and contemporary media for creative industries at university.
After I approached the news as a fan, I recollect my emotions –plagiarism is a huge deal for someone in my field of study – and I approached it with analytical eyes.
First of all, I went to read Mary Cagnin's tweets. While reading them, they seemed based on true accusations but the thing that didn't add up was the fact that she approached the situation in a very strange way: if I will ever notice that a worldwide TV show was based on my work without my consent, fuck all, I'm going to call my lawyer and put down that show whatever it takes. It was strange for me that she didn't do that and just decided to post it on Twitter.
At this point, I had only one thing to do, go and read Black Silence to see what were the similarities myself. Spoiler from here on.

A PSA on Ao No Flag’s Artwork
Ao no Flag (or Blue Flag) is one of the purest manga I’ve had the pleasure to read in a while.
I’m a big fan of shonen and seinen and I usually lean toward mature or fantastic series, but let me tell you, this is such a sweet and well rounded story that its being domestic and simple is exactly its core strength.
It’s a classic love triangle (or square) with a small twist since Kaito (the author) added two LGBT characters to the main cast (which is pretty huge considering the context of publication and the intended readers). But the characters are so well rounded and carefully, lovingly constructed that it’s a true pleasure to follow their story.
I could spend a dozen posts trying to tell you why you should read Ao No Flag and how cute and pure the story is, but I’ll just let the artwork speak for me.
There’s something distinctively pure and domestic about the way Kaito handles his characters. He never feels the need to add fancy or special elements to the backgrounds or the situation, because the story gets its power from the simplicity of its premise.
Every situation the characters find themselves in is something that could easily happen to any teenager in 2018 Japan, and yet it’s handled without the desire for escapism and extraordinary life that you usually find in stories aimed at young adults.
Ao no Flag is not ashamed to be domestic.
There’s power in simple narratives and there’s power in a simple art-style, in subtle shadows and mundane backgrounds, in everyday life and no-dialogue panels.
There’s a sense of suspension in Kaito’s pages, as if he wants us to enjoy the moment, just like the characters are doing, as if every single, mundane act is worth being narrated.
I always feel at peace when I read Ao no Flag. When I look at Kaito’s art, when I look at the characters, my anxiety suddenly disappears. This manga is so domestic and simple, but the artwork conveys this amazing feeling of peace and purity.
It is like standing in the middle of a sunflower field, with your eyes closed and the wind ruffling your hair. It’s mid September, the sun is warm and you are content. Your heart is suddenly at peace with the world and with who you are.
Boris Groh is one of my favorite artists, mostly because of his works that feature LARGE skeletons just doing their thing

scar’s brother was ultra hot and im so mad he is dead
I JUST REALIZED THAT I SHOULD CLARIFY THAT I AM WATCHING FMA: BROTHERHOOD AND I AM NOT IN FACT LUSTING AFTER MUFASA, SCAR’S DEAD BROTHER IN THE LION KING
I’m very sorry for the big watermark. Initially the watermark was supposed to be vertical, and right at the edge of the canvas, but lately, I found my oxenfree fanarts on other sites. Sure, with my watermarks on them, but without asking for permission beforehand and I’m very anxious about posting my art due to that now.
Anyway. This is Detroit: Become Human fanart idea I had for like? A week? And since I’m free from entrance exams etc. I finally got to design it (along with like 7 other sketches I did yesterday night and today morning) this one and polish it just now lmfao. Hope you like it. ^-^

I’m finally done with Connor so I decided to put the 2 guys together on the same post
\( u v u)*/
It looks better this way! Like I said in Hank’s post, I wanted to make fanarts in reference of the bad endings between the two! So I put some blood/thirium and well Connor and Hank have in their hands what killed the other!
Hank hold Connor’s Thirium Pump Regulator and Connor hold Hank’s Magnum~
A bit edgy I know… but I like some drama :>
Here you go for Hank !
I wanted to make something edgy in reference of the bad endings you can have where Connor doesn’t end well ;D (and yeah, if you’re wondering, that’s Connor’s Thirium Pump Regulator in Hank’s hand, you’re welcome~<3 )
I might do Connor next… I have some ideas I’d to explore… héhé
EDIT : sorry for the repost, I wanted to change some stuffs but I deleted my precedent post… ;D
Reblog of my last fanart ( u v u )🌸
