Even before Jason explained how he got electrocuted, this reader was already emotionally attached to him.
And that's how OP ended up making a Jason Grace sideblog.
Something about these passages just reads as profoundly sad to me. It strikes me how when it comes to his sister, specifically, Jason seems to wish he could reach out emotionally so desperately, but just keeps failing to do so because of their vastly different paths.
Moving to the same alcove she was in and putting up her picture on the wall just to feel close to her as a sibling he never really got to know is particularly heartbreaking. He just wants to connect so badly and it hurts.
while looking at my Facebook feed, I came across that image and couldn't help but think of them—
Something, something, doing my re-read and recognizing how often other characters, including Leo and Piper, interpret Jason to be confident and brave while he, himself, often feels anxious, scared, and lost.
jason would be the type of person to roam around the grocery store on his birthday because piper and leo asked him to "do something nice for himself" and he'd spot a birthday flavoured protein bar, would jump around in excitement bc it's BIRTHDAY FLAVORED and go "this is perfect for today! :DD" and would come out the store with that, and nothing else.
#piper would scream and go back to store to get him ACTUAL snacks and leo would make him a birthday buffet#he'd just get excited seeing stuff that's “birthday flavored” even if it's like. toothpaste. it makes him giddy for no reason#and honestly? I get it — OP tags!
The lost hero, some page between 100~110
JASON WOULD’VE DIED FIVE TIMES on the way to the front door if not for Leo.
First it was the motion-activated trapdoor on the sidewalk, then the lasers on the steps, then the nerve gas dispenser on the porch railing, the pressure-sensitive poison spikes in the welcome mat, and of course the exploding doorbell.
Leo deactivated all of them. It was like he could smell the traps, and he picked just the right tool out of his belt to disable them.
“You're amazing, man,” Jason said
Leo scowled as he examined the front door lock. “Yeah, amazing,” he said. “Can’t fix a dragon right, but I’m amazing.”
“Hey, that wasn’t your—”
“Front door’s already unlocked,” Leo announced.
Piper stared at the door in disbelief. “It is? All those traps, and the door’s unlocked?”
Leo turned the knob. The door swung open easily. He stepped inside without hesitation.
Before Jason could follow, Piper caught his arm. “He’s going to need some time to get over Festus. Don’t take it personally.”
“Yeah,” Jason said. “Yeah, okay.”
Jason: You can't make everyone like you. You're not Leo or Piper
Percy: What? Not everyone likes Leo and Piper.
Jason: Who doesn't?
Percy: Well...
Jason: Names. Now. Give me their names
Let me tell you a secret, I never got to read any of the PJO universe books while growing up (they’re not as popularized in my country as HP, for example) I gave them a try as a young adult, I tried reading PJO first but I wasn’t able to get into Percy’s narration…
Then I tried The Lost Hero and I felt completely captivated by Jason’s POV instantly! And for me, Jason is the most interesting of perspectives.
Not even Leo or Piper can hold water, because as I read their respective chapters I can help but pause a moment and be acutely aware that there’s a middle aged white man behind the words, a middle aged white man pretending to be two teenagers and failing.
But with my boy Jason the storytelling just flows so nicely and I able to immerse into it without break.
That’s why I find so utterly insane some people find Jason to be boring, because for me he is the one holding the story together!
And here I am again.
The first time I read HOO, I didn't really like Jason. Rather, I didn't find him interesting at all. But now... I absolutely adore him. Nothing would make me believe you're dead, Jason. Nothing.
Jason is so so so hard on himself. He could do unimaginable feats of amazingness and be like: wow I failed and that was horrible

Also this friendship makes me soft.
What do you think Jason is saying?
Jason Grace is extremely traumatised but doesn't know that he is because he's never learnt any different.
People go, "oh my gosh, you must be so traumatised" and Jason just says "huh? I just thought everyone feels this way".
this is my first time drawing Piper is it obvious
He is my daughter. Believe it or not, but I gave birth to them
