“Please, listen to Leon and James. You really, really do not want to mess with the Glimwood Tangle. There’s a reason challengers are only allowed to walk a very specific path to Ballonlea.”
@croesow - plotted starter.
She was expecting to have to shoo those other students away - I mean, she’d been having to do it for weeks now. They’d never seemed satisfied even after they terrorized Glory again and again, never seemed to learn their lesson every time Sion or another teacher had to tell them off. She’d heard that this was their final warning, that they’d been told if they bothered Glory one more time they’d be expelled from Adreffe immediately. It brought her some relief, knowing that they’d likely finally leave her and Glory alone.
She never could have expected what had come next, though. They approached them again - it seemed they’d still not learned their lesson, of course. Vivian was ready to try and text Argo or Felix for help, maybe even Sion - but then she saw one of them try to knock the egg out of Glory’s arms. The egg Sion had given them, one of the reasons these kids hated them - and before she knew it her fist had collided with their jaw.
And now... she was here in the infirmary.
Her head felt as if it was full of cotton and fog, the sharp pain in her chest and arms leaving her unable to even think clearly. She knew Glory had been urged to go home and rest, recover from all this - and she preferred it that way. She didn’t want them to have to feel like they needed to comfort her or feel horrible for the fact she’d gotten hurt protecting them. It was fine. She didn’t care - all that mattered to her was that they were okay.
But still... the consequences of everything swirled through her mind. Would she also be expelled for throwing the first punch? Would she be punished for stooping to their level? She wasn’t sure, and to tell the truth... it scared her a bit. She didn’t regret protecting her friend, of course not - but there was also the inevitable backlash for the violence. To tell the truth, she knew she shouldn’t have done it - it was an instinctual reaction, and she knows she should have just brought it to the attention of one of the teachers. But it was all she could think to do in that moment, and by the time she’d realized it was far too late.
...She just hoped Glory would be okay, and people weren’t too mad at her.

@risingxglory (Plotted) Starter :
Waiting on a late shipment of Berries was ( NOT ) something Grimsley was happy about doing . He stood by the boarding dock with his arms crossed over his chest . A heavy sigh , rolling eyes and a disgruntled huff ⸺ he watched as the boat backed into the league cargo reserve .
Approaching , icy-like eyes widened upon near collision . A large box shook and then toppled onto damp wood . The lid followed , but what he’d been greeted with was anything but the pile of berries he’d been expecting . No . This was … a rather beaten up-looking child .
Shoving what was left of the shipment’s prior contents aside , the gambler knelt down and offered a hand to the stowaway . Surely they hadn’t any ill-intent , especially given how rough they appeared to be .
❛ Excuse me little one … are you alright ? ❜
Ah yes . Only Grimsley would experience a turn of events like this .
What had they gotten themself into this time?
They knew running away had been a terrible idea - one that they knew would surely end poorly - but when they saw that their father had left their bedroom window unlocked by accident... they saw their chance and took it. They couldn’t take it anymore - they were so hungry, so tired, in so much pain from the constant foul treatment their parents gave them. Maybe they could find help, something, anything - perhaps catch a Pokemon to protect themself. Anything was better than what they’d been enduring.
Things didn’t go according to plan, though. Upon reaching the next town - somehow, they’d run all the way to Hulbury without collapsing - they heard people behind them talking about how they were looking for someone. A runaway, specifically. Knowing their time of freedom could be up, they ran as fast as they could, ducking into a strange building. A warehouse of sorts, they think - they didn’t really have time to look around them before hearing more people. They were being followed, they had to be. In a moment of sheer panic, they clambered inside one of the crates in the building to hide, unknowingly sealing themselves shut inside. Before they could get out, the crate was loaded onto a ship and sent out to sea with them stuck inside.
It was terrifying, one of the most scary experiences they’d ever been through. The crate was full of berries, by some stroke of dumb luck - so thankfully they didn’t have to continue to starve. Through their time on the ship, they ate most of what was in the container - they couldn’t help it, they were so hungry. The waves rocking the boat tossed them around the crate, injuring them a few times - but they were still alive. That’s all that mattered, right?
Finally, with a loud crash, the box tumbled onto the ground and bust open, sending them tumbling out and skidding across the ground. Upon opening their eyes, they looked around - their green eyes locking with icy blue ones they didn’t recognize. Blinking a few times, their vision became clearer. The blue eyes belonged to a man they’d never seen before, holding his hand out to them and asking them if they were alright. Fear coursed through them upon realizing he must have been the one the berries were meant for. The ones they ate.
Trembling, they cowered as tears welled up in their eyes. They didn’t speak a word, simply staring up at him with a fear in their eyes. He was mad, right? He had to be, even if he didn’t seem like he was. Surely, they were in massive trouble - surely bad things were going to happen.
Right?

Their parents were... something they did not enjoy thinking about. Something they outright hated the thought of. Despite the fact that they knew they had finally received the karma they’d deserved for what they did to them and their brother...
They often still blame themself for not being the child their parents wanted. Not being “normal” as they’d put it time and time again. But then again, before Spirit had been kicked out, they’d been kind. Doting. Targeting all the beatings and verbal lashings at him instead. But the moment he was gone, they needed a new punching bag, they supposed. And so the cross hairs fell upon them.
To this day, they still feel as if they’re not allowed to speak. Not allowed to cry, not allowed to be noticeable to others around them. They still feel like so much of it was their fault. Maybe they were a mistake.
...Best not to think about it too much.
Finally finding a moment, Finnley taps the table in front of him to get Glorys attention. "You asked about pokemon you might like to train, I have an egg I brought with if you want it." It's on the smaller side, a dark grey shell with white specks and a slight blue tinge. "Up to you Kiddo."
They looked down in surprise at the egg - they'd never seen anything like it, but then again, the only other egg they'd ever hatched was the one Toto came out of. After pausing for a moment, they gently scooped it into their arms, holding it carefully against their chest.
"Thanks, Mothy! I'll make sure to take good care of it." They smile warmly at their mentor, looking back down at the egg again. They wanted to ask what was in it, but part of them wanted to keep it a surprise. They enjoyed having that with Toto, so the suspense and mystery leading up to the hatching would surely be fun again. Now to just carry it around with them everywhere for a good while...

A little bit of headcanon stuff for Vivian since I haven’t really delved into that here yet!
Vivian shares Glory’s fear of Ice Types, though for a completely different reason - that reason being Cyrus’ Weavile. Not only did the Weavile kill both her Crobat and her Bronzong, but it was the Pokemon that Cyrus would send after her when she didn’t perform to his standards. Due to the constant lashing out from the Pokemon as a result of her shortcomings, she has severe scarring from frost burns all across her back. That, paired with the pokemon nearly killing her along with her Purugly and brutally killing her other two team members, has given her a deep seeded fear of the Sneasel line as a whole.

@risingxglory / continued from here.
He keeps hold of Glory’s hand as he guides them past the Grass and Bug Gyms and further into the forest. There’s no discernible path he’s following, weaving through the trees and groups of wild pokemon until he reaches a tiny pool, tucked far away at the edge of the forest. The trees behind it are thick and clustered together, cutting it off from whatever may lay behind them, and the edge of the pool is cluttered with all sorts of legendary-themed items. Clearly, they’re not the first two people to come here.
❝ The students call this the Lunar Pool. It’s a breeding ground for Lunatone, hence the naming connection to the root word lunar, and worshippers of Cresselia and Lunala come here to pay their respects. There’s an Adreffian fairytale, too, associating this place with a Dark-typed Ducklett that lives in the stars, but that’s a story for another time. ❞
Had he ever told Glory about their mythical Swanna and her accompanying chicks? It surely must have been covered in their type matchup lessons by now.
❝ Provided you don’t mind getting joined by some occasional staff or student company, you’re welcome to come here whenever you like. ❞
When they walked through the parted trees and saw the pond, their eyes opened wide in awe. Not only did the light from the moon filter almost perfectly through the trees to shine down upon the water, but the pool itself seemed... luminescent almost. As if there was light dancing around in the very water itself. The whole area was almost ethereal, and they found themselves looking around quite a bit before offering a response.
“It’s... really pretty. I can see why the other students like to come here.”
Their voice is still quite hoarse - years of disuse will do that, of course. But when they’re with Sion, it doesn’t really matter as much to them. They know that with him, they don’t need to pretend to be someone they’re not - he’d still love them regardless. He was their mentor after all.
Though... since he did have custody of them after everything that had happened, was he still just a mentor? Or was he their dad now?
...Those were questions better pondered at a later time. Best not to get lost in thought at a time like this, after all. Looking up at him, they offered a small smile.
“I like it here. It’s nice and quiet... very calming. I might ask Vivian if she wants to come here later on. Thank you for showing this to me, Sion.”

“Hiya, what did I miss?”
“Mikhail!!” They quickly ran up to him as soon as they saw him, throwing their arms around him in a tight hug. “You... missed a lot, but... that doesn’t matter. I’m really happy to see you!”
I may be on hiatus but I crave aus where this child gets adopted after fleeing home so.

Hey!! I’m really sorry to do this so soon after I made this blog, and so soon after I planned to write with so many of you, but I’m in the middle of a huge move and I need to focus all my brain power and energy onto getting ready since I’m really in crunch mode now. I’ll be back as soon as I can to finish those threads, I promise.
Explanation under cut since it gets pretty heavy and venty. (Also because it’s long.) TW for abusive family, shitty landlords, etc
