“Alright, drinks are on me,” Rita said with a smile, ordering herself something frozen and sweet because that’s what she was in the mood to start the night with. “Catch me up on stuff. How’re things going? How’s life, how’s school? As a resident mom friend, I’m here to pry and learn what’s going on with you and how you’re doing.”

It was earlier than normal for Gunther to occupy a bar stool and start chugging down a few, but he had a long day. Flights drained the life out of him and since he had been away from the City for so many months, he needed time to adjust to everything. Jet lag was a good enough reason for him to be drunk, and he was fairly certain he was almost there. So when someone started chatting him up he was a bit nicer when he told them “Can you shut the fuck up? I am trying to enjoy myself for once.”
Rita usually didn’t like to get involved in the patrons’ conversations, but she had been filling this guy’s drinks for a pretty long time and she would be lying if she said she wasn’t hoping for a big tip. So might as well try to keep him happy. “Hey, you heard him,” she said to the person trying to chat with him. “Why don’t you scoot a few seats down and I’ll get your order, alright?” she waited for them to move away. Sure, they were annoyed but she was pretty sure their tab wouldn’t end up as high as his. “Sorry about that, hope they weren’t bothering you too much,” she said, tucking her tray under her arm as she went back behind the bar. “You need another of those?” she asked, motioning to the glass in front of him.

“This month just seems to be flying by. I need to get started on my Christmas shopping but have no idea where to even begin.”
“I know, right? I’ve got so much shopping to do for all the holidays. Thankfully one of my brothers is a cook and would probably hate it if I tried to help with that, so I don’t have to worry about the meals for either holiday.” Rita chuckled a bit. “Just do what I do and start with whoever’s the easiest. Like, is there anyone on your list you can just get gift cards for?”

With a touch on her shoulder she quickly snapped and faced the other. “And what makes you think you could help me! You don’t even know me, nor what I need help with.” Taking in a deep breath she did her best to grasp the real reason for her temper. Not being able to find her medication. Shutting her eyes she rubbed at her temples before laughing. “I just need to find something, and it’s missing, of course it’s missing!”
Rita shrugged a shoulder. “I’ve got five brothers and I’ve been helpin’ them out for a couple decades now,” she said, minding her temper, knowing that she was probably just lashing out due to whatever was happening. She nodded. “Well, I’m pretty good at finding things. Like I said, five brothers. Things go missing all the time. So what’re you looking for?

Laughing a bit she handed off the drink and gave a small shrug. Rita was always way to kind and patient for the things that she had to deal with. Biting softly into her bottom lip she nodded along with what she was saying. “I’ve missed you too. But my apology is just.. you don’t deserve to be someone I just run too when I have Fagin issues. You’ve always been a great friend, and I shouldn’t have ghosted the way I did - and only come to you when I’ve hit bottom. So, I’m taking you out for dinner or something tonight, deal? And you can tell me everything going on in your life. Like Your turn to lean on someone’s shoulders.”
Rita smiled. “You’re definitely forgiven,” she said. She was used to people walking out on her, and she knew that what Crystal was doing wasn’t that. She was a young woman with her own life, and Rita completely understood that. “Trust me, we’ve all got troubles with Sol, so having anyone to complain to that gets it is always good to have.” she grinned a bit. “And yeah, that’s a deal. Not much goes on in my life other than making sure things at work run smoothly and things with my brothers run smoothly. But I’m sure after a few drinks I’ll find some things to complain about.”

“I do have many talents! I can balance four plates of food on my arm at one time!” he told her excitedly. He checked that his ukulele was tuned properly before he began playing a song. “This is the national anthem of my country.”
“well, that might be a talent I’ve got you beat at,” she teased. “Not to brag, but I’m at four plates and a drink tray,” she said, brushing off one of her shoulders in a joking manner. She nodded, listening to him play. He was pretty good, she’d give him that. She gave him a bit of applause when he finished. “That was great,” Rita smiled. “What country are you from?”

Shuffling through her purse it was clear on her face her frustration, as well as her panic. Recently she’d been moved on new medication, but with holidays coming she was busier than ever. Remembering to take them didn’t always come easily. With a hand to her shoulder she took in a sharp breath and rose a hand. “I’m fine! I’m … fine!” || @ritaxdexsilva
The woman looked like she was struggling. And Rita knew it may not have been her place, but she couldn't help herself. She put a light hand on her shoulder. She looked her over. “You sure? You don’t really look it. No offense, I just wonder if there’s anything I can do to help?”

Crystal felt horrid. The woman had been there for her more than most of her sisters in the sorority - and yet she’d become a stranger. Half of which was just Crystal didn’t want to shower her in questions about Fagin, or run into him at times. But she sucked it up and brought her a peace offering of lemonade. “Hey, Rita… I suck so here is a lemonade to start a long , apology..” || @ritaxdexsilva
She smiled when she saw her. It had been a while. Rita couldn’t help but laugh a bit when she spoke. “Hey, Crystal. I’ve met a lot of people who suck a lot in my life, and let me tell you, you are definitely not one of them. I will take this lemonade though,” she said, taking the drink. “Now, tell me how you’ve been. It has been too long and I missed you,” she smiled again. “But honestly, you don’t have to apologize for anything. But, if you’ve got something planned out, go ahead, I’ll listen. Just know that I forgive you.” she took a sip of the drink.

“Ah, but I cannot help myself at times. I know my talent and I am proud of it,” he said. “You play guitar? That is also an excellent talent!” Naveen positioned the ukulele to he could play. “I’ll play now. Any requests?”
“I like to think it is, yeah,” she laughed a bit. “And it’s good to be proud of what you’re good at. You certainly seem like a man with many talents.” She thought for a moment. “Surprise me, hon. Play whatever your heart desires.”

“Absolutely none! I agree! Everyone is jealous of my talent. I am a most excellent ukulele player. To make myself feel better I’ll believe her ex-lover died in an accident. But the ukulele would never hurt someone. It is to excellent of an instrument.” Naveen held his ukulele close to his chest. “Many years. Since I was twelve.”
“Well, now you’re just bragging,” she said with a playful roll of her eyes. Though if he was really that arrogant... well, it was a good thing he was pretty. “No, it wouldn’t. Never on purpose at least. But it is great. I dabble a bit, though I play more guitar than uke.” She nodded, impressed. “Nice,” Rita put on a smile. “I’d love to hear you play sometime.”

“I was dancing my night away in the club the other night and there was the most beautiful young lady there. She had stars in her eyes. I tell her this. My game was strong. We were laughing and joking then I tell her I can play the ukulele. She is unimpressed and walks away! I ask myself– was it something I said? Did I smell funny? I do not understand what she had against the ukulele.”
“Some ladies have no taste,” Rita said with a shake of her head. “Maybe she’s just jealous of your talent. Or thought you were just trying to sell her tickets to a concert. Or maybe her ex-lover died in a ukulele related accident. You never know with some people.” She shrugged a shoulder. “I’m sure you didn’t do anything wrong, though. If that’s exactly how you presented that information to her. How long’ve you been playing the uke?”

“Big, dirty squirrels? How is that any better? They’re both rodents and they’re both gross. At least squirrels are kind of cute with their busy tails.” He shook his head. “I don’t think I’ll ever get used to them.”
She shrugged. “Could be worse. Could be roaches that big. Not that’d be a nightmare.” Rita said with a bit of a grin. “So, where were you before the big city? Take it you’re not from here just from the reaction to our beautiful ecosystem,” she joked, motioning around them.

At this point in his day…week…month…Oliver could only assume that he was cursed. He’d gotten dragged out of the house to Cabaret Night, so at least he could dress…in his old stuff. Newsies were a 20s thing, right? Right. Either way, he was here now and someone was talking to him, maybe and. “No. No clue about anything that’s going on, honestly.”
Rita chuckled a bit. “I’m just saying I’m glad to see you out here. I know this isn’t your favorite type of place to be.” She nudged him. “You want a drink? I need a drink. As fun as this show is, I think a drink might make it a little more fun.”

“If there is one thing about New York I will never get used to it’s the rats. I can’t stand the little buggers– and the ones here are not little by any means.” Terrence shuddered. “I saw one outside my apartment this morning. I nearly fainted.”
“Yeah, you just gotta ignore them. Or think of them as big, dirty squirrels.” She said with a shrug. “Fainting seems like a bit of an over reaction, but I might be used to them.”

Melody was clumsy, anyone that knew her knew that. So it didn’t particularly surprise her when she tripped on the sidewalk, on seemingly nothing. What did surprise here was the fact that when she’s landed, it didn’t really hurt. It was soft almost. She was also surprised to hear a groan of pain beneath her. She had fallen onto someone.
““Oh my god! I am so sorry! Are you okay?”
Rita... hadn’t been expecting that. “Shit,” she muttered, rolling out a bit from under the woman. “It’s all good. Been in worse tumbles, we’re all good.” She said shifting a bit from under her. “You okay, hon?”
