I just finished the bell jar by Sylvia plath.

I see why it's a classic, I did find it profound, and it did speak to me. The casual racism was horrible though and prominent throughout the text. It happens in old booms unfortinatly.

The depression and madness that she suffers really does sneak up on you, and I was really torn up throughout the middle of the book as her mental state got worse. I thought I would be ok to read this book, but it was not great fkr my mental health.

That said, i still feel like it was a good book in some ways? I have complex feelings, obviously.

Also yes, the fig tree analogy is going to haunt me for the rest of my life.
