i really do hate when people act like athena is buck's surrogate mom like that man is nottt her son he is a smelly ugly stray dog that bobby brought home one day and athena was like Bobby what did you bring into my house and Bobby said I found this guy on a call...isn't he cute? and athena was like He is not. but she let him keep the dog so long as he agreed to take care of him and not let him sit on the furniture. and athena will look at the dog sometimes as it's begging her for food and be like You are one ugly mutt you know that? and it'll wag its tail at her and she'll sigh and give its ears a little scratch. one time when bobby was in the kitchen athena fed the dog a shred of bacon from the table and may was like Mom did you just feed the dog bacon? That's not good for dogs and athena was like May don't be ridiculous i don't even like that dog. Michael did you see me feed the dog bacon? and michael was like Don't bring me into this i'm not the one who brought the dog home. and harry was like Can i feed the dog bacon and athena and may and michael and bobby all said No. now that bobby is gone athena lets the dog sit on the sofa sometimes and sometimes it'll put its doggy head in her lap and she'll say What are we gonna do with ourselves now...and the dog will drool on her and she'll say This is why i don't let you sit on the sofa. sometimes when she does something reckless and illegal she lets the dog ride along with her in the car because the dog likes to bite people so it can be helpful to have around. she never introduces it as her dog though she always say That dog in my passenger seat? I have no idea where he came from...must've left my car door open. meanwhile the dog has escaped the car and has bitten someone's leg off

A few years ago while trying to find ways to commit suicide as painlessly as possible, I came across a PDF of Dr. Paul Quinnett's The Forever Decision. Thinking it might go into actual methods of suicide (I read an article once that actually did that and was trying to find it again) I started to read it, and I think I only got about two pages in before I was crying too much to actually see the words.

I downloaded the PDF to my hard drive and I open it again whenever I'm feeling too suicidal to do much else, but not enough to start booking a ride to the hospital. And every time without fail I only go up to a few pages before backing off and choosing to live another day just because suicide suddenly seems even more unbearable than whatever the hell upset me in the first place.

All the book really does is [I'm pulling a summary from GoodReads here as, again, I've read no more than 5 pages] "discusses the social aspects of suicide, the right to die, anger, loneliness, depression, stress, hopelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, the consequences of a suicide attempt, and how to get help."

But it also starts with the author kindly asking the reader to complete the book before going through with anything, and for some reason I'm compelled to really just try to read it all before finalizing everything. Despite not yet completing it (hopefully never will) I think I can safely say it's saved my life at least a few times now.

It's intentionally legal to copy and redistribute this book to keep it as accessible as possible, and it's very easy to find, but here's a link for it anyways.

Ok I’m convinced Tia Pepa knows Eddie is gay and set him up with Vanessa in an attempt to force confrontation:

Equally important point about 6x11 chest compressions—we have seen Eddie straddle Buck on our screens.

I don’t think I even registered this the first watch through but, I need every buddie to know:

It’s Eddie doing compressions on Buck when they go through the doors of the hospital in 6x11.

I can’t think of any other time where we see someone besides *an assigned paramedic coming direct from the back of the ambulance* working on someone at the time of transition to hospital custody.

Of course everyone was working together at that moment, but Eddie’s role is such a deliberate choice: Eddie was not there waiting at the doors for the purpose of taking over compressions; it wasn’t his job, there was no plot necessity. Eddie had to park the ambulance and then run around the back to unload Buck (this in itself not unusual I think). What is unusual is that he then immediately tapped in. If it was anyone else being worked on, Eddie would have just let the paramedic working finish the last few seconds before handoff to hospital staff. But because it’s Buck, he needed to give him everything he had in that moment. He wasn’t letting a second go by where Buck wasn’t getting his all.

And it’s not just that, it’s all of it. We usually don’t even see who is driving the ambulance in the instances where both Hen and Chim are required in the back. It could have been anyone, but they made it Eddie. And Eddie’s not a paramedic on this shift, which is why it’s notable that Eddie automatically goes to follow Buck into the ambulance when they load him and has to be told no by Bobby. That “no” is likely why Bobby gives Eddie the task of driving instead. (Who else besides a paramedic would assume they can ride in the back of the ambulance? Only next of kin. but nok can be kept out when the patient is critical.)

It’s just. At no time was Eddie unimportant or even a spectator in any way during that event. He did as much as he could. He followed orders bc he wasn’t about to waste time arguing, but he was there fucking fighting for Buck’s life, seconds after having been thrown a dozen feet by the strike himself, btw. He fought for all of it.

The 3 minutes 17 seconds Eddie later fixates on must be the time it took him to lower Buck’s lifeless body from the ladder to the ambulance in the first place, where he was already in asystole presumably from the moment of the strike until cpr returned his heart to a shockable rhythm. That 3 minutes 17 seconds is the time it took Eddie to bodily save Buck from irreversible biological death and brain damage (can happen at 4 minutes btw). And every moment after from the moment Eddie climbs into the driver’s seat until the moment Buck is transferred into hospital custody, Eddie was still saving his life.
