The Cars of 911

All of the discussion about Buck getting a truck in season eight got me curious about how consistent any of the vehicles are in this show. Updated as of 9x06.

ATHENA They don't show her personal vehicle in season one, but from the second season onward, Athena’s driven a red GMC Acadia Denali.

It wasn't seen for a while after the house fire and was presumably destroyed, as in 8x10 she had a new 2024 Acadia Denali.

BOBBY Chronologically, Bobby's first car is this pickup in St. Paul. It’s older and more beat up, a little boxier.

When he moves to LA, he drives a dark blue Ford F-150, initially with Minnesota plates.

In season six, he has a dark blue Chevy Silverado.

And then in season seven when he goes after Amir, he has a different dark blue Chevy Silverado, this time a High Country. Presumably he got it back from the desert. It may or may not have survived the house fire, as Athena got a new car after that, but Bobby wasn't seen driving a personal vehicle in season eight.

BUCK Chronologically, the first car we see Buck drive is the blue Jeep Wrangler that Maddie gives him in 2012. He drives it around the country and still has it on his first day at the 118 in 2017.

But in the first season, which takes place in late 2017/early 2018, he has this gray/gray-green Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. This is the only season where he has this car. (It’s not Abby’s as in 1x09, she drives a silver Chevy Volt.)

In season two he has a dark gray Rubicon, and seems to keep this car until it dies on the road in 6x07. It very well could’ve been different years that all look very similar; I don’t know enough about cars to spot minor differences from year to year.

In season seven, he has a new silver Rubicon, though it's only shown in 7x04.

In season eight, he ditches the jeeps for a Nissan Frontier. It's first seen at the graveyard in 8x05, and he still has it as of 9x06.

CHIMNEY In 1x03, Chimney’s driving a blue Subaru Impreza when he gets in the rebar accident, and that’s the first and last time we see that car.

In 4x12 he’s driving a silver Subaru hatchback. It looks like it might be the same one Maddie was driving in season three.

Throughout season five, he’s driving a dark blue-gray Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I think he’s still driving the same Jeep in season seven when it gets stolen in 7x06. Its fate remains unknown.

EDDIE The first car we see of Eddie’s is an older gray Toyota Tundra from the early 2000s. It's also visible in 3x15 in El Paso.

In 3x08 he buys a black 2019 GMC Sierra Denali and drives it until 8x12, when he trades it in for a Toyota Prius.

We see him driving the Prius in Texas, and though we haven't seen it in season nine yet, he presumably still has it as of 9x06.

HEN In seasons one and two, Hen drives a blue Toyota RAV4. Apparently only at night.

After that, she's seen driving a dark gray Volvo that seems to be the same car Karen was driving in 1x10. It looked like Hen was driving it in 6x06 in flashbacks to their first date.

MADDIE Chronologically, Maddie’s first car we see is the blue Jeep Wrangler. She had it in 2004 and gave it to Buck in 2012.

If she has a car in season two, it isn't shown, but in season three she’s driving a silver Subaru Crosstrek. It looks like it could be the same Subaru Chimney’s driving in 4x12, so they seem to have started sharing it.

In conclusion, some characters are really consistent when it comes to their cars, while others are not. Bobby and Buck have changed their cars the most.

if Eddie Diaz not gay/ace/aro/some combo of these things then HOW do you explain the Felisa plot in 6x07? you simply can’t. this is a man who is a canonical telenovela fan, meeting a hot telenovela star who he clearly knows about, and there is not one microsecond of there there. he never ogles her he never checks her out he never gets giggly around her or treats her as anything else than as a hapless potential friend. and SHE, a woman who’s both scared of and fascinated by stalkers, never treats him like she’s worried he’s going to overstep bounds. she’s afraid the whole episode but she’s never afraid of HIM. She sizes him up and goes nope this one is No Threat I can just hang and chill with him and he will ask nothing of me. that’s wild!! that is wild.

the show keeps asking are there any women perfect enough for Eddie Diaz that he would actually be excited to date them? and the answer keeps coming back no.

The proposition: it’s incorrect to call it “Eddie’s house” therefore Buck giving up his lease to move there cannot be evidence that Eddie is competition

The support: he’s a renter not an owner

- a technicality at best

- not even true really as we usually refer to renter’s abodes as their place, that’s generally the most appropriate phrasing

- ‘s is a possessive, the renter has actual possession of the house, the phrasing is grammatically, factually, and colloquially correct.

- he himself has previously referred to it as Eddie’s house (as in I’m not really a guest, it’s Eddie’s house)

5x04 (one episode?)

Chim leaving town following Maddie, doesn’t know if or when he’ll come back.

- Chim planning to stop by Hen’s before leaving/ before he can go there, Hen going to Chim’s to offer to come with

- Hen asking “are you sure you’re coming back” and then taking his answer (no I’m not sure) with a hug.

Season 8 (Buck still spiraling about this halfway through season 9?)

Eddie leaving town to follow Chris, doesn’t know if or when he’ll come back

- Eddie hiding his plan to leave from Buck specifically, not once but twice in the Texas arc; once it’s framed as if he’s hiding porn

- Buck spiraling, asking Eddie to stay when what he really wanted was just to know Eddie loves him as much as he loves Eddie; this involved Buck negatively comparing Eddie to his new best friend (A DOG) and insinuating thereby that Eddie is a bad dog that can’t follow Buck’s commands, (sure Buck, wanting your boy best friend to obey your commands is a normal straight thing to want and also possible for Eddie to fail at as a normal boy best friend).

- Buck moving into Eddie’s House TM (colloquial use - the renter is in possession of the house, Buck!)

- yeah my sister is missing and but what I really have to address right now is the fact that EDDIE’s LEAVING

- somehow the most homoerotic hug followed by the most awkward goodbye. Also Buck baked him treats.

- Buck’s ex using the opportunity to accuse Buck of being in love with Eddie?

The fact that when Bobby has to deal with Harry being kidnapped, Eddie says

“I can’t imagine what he’s going through.”

Eddie doesn’t know what it was like to spend hours searching for Chris, not knowing if he’d find him alive, knowing he’s in danger and not being there. He can’t imagine.

But Buck can. Buck knows.
