The streets of Hongdae in the evening were a fantastic view to everyone who was looking for undiscovered talent in Seoul. Not only could one see the most fashionable teenagers with their pretty faces looking for some new clothes to add to their chic wardrobe but if the timing was right unknown singers and dancers – most of them doing it for a hobby or in hopes to be discovered by a street agent one day – giving their best to entertain the audience stopping by.

Especially those small groups of dancers were something familiar to Soonyoung so he spend his free days every now and then there to see how they were doing. He didn’t know anyone personally but whenever he couldn’t hold still anymore he’d joke around with them and end up doing a performance or two. He never really gave his best, it was all just fun to him and entertaining the viewers with some funny actions was so much more joyful than showing off his dancing without any interaction.

But this time he would have to take it serious. Because dancing might be all fun and games but singing was another level. Soonyoung never sang seriously in front of many people but after hearing there were some scouts going around the area to cast new trainees he couldn’t let that chance pass by. Trainees had to know how to sing as well so he’d need to show this off every now and then as well.

Never in his life the blonde has been so nervous about a performance. He was standing at the side of the booth and watching how some of the other guys were setting up their location as the leader finally grabbed the mic and announced they’d start in a couple of minutes. Although she was the smallest of them all, the girl surely knew how to grab the attention of other people and so she made some jokes, telling them how to anticipate what was waiting for them. Especially since they’d have a special guest with them this night. And with that she introduced Soonyoung as an upcoming trainee and encouraging everyone to give him a round of applause because he will open the stage on his own.

It was a lie that he would be a trainee but the second she said it some girls of the audience were all ears and looked for their phones to film whatever he was going to do. If possible Soonyoung got even more nervous as he stepped up to the small leader and took the microphone from her. With a shy smile he bowed to the audience and took a deep breath to introduce himself. But before he could get a word out the music started to play and he blinked a few times. It only started and wasn’t following his plan. But looking at the people facing him and seeing their anticipating glares and joyful sighs when recognizing the melody he smiled faintly and forgot about his plan. It didn’t matter if everything worked according to plan as long as he’d get through it somehow.

And so he started to sing and put his all into it. Barely he has been so serious about anything but singing this song was something he wouldn’t joke about. And the clapping of the audience after he wrapped it up was a sure sign that he did well. Or at least he didn’t make a complete fool out of himself.

“Thanks a lot” he bowed his head and put on his most charming smile, “I hope you enjoyed it and that you’ll look out for me. But now let’s start with the real thing, alright? You surely know Blackpink, right? The guys prepared something fun for you~” With this he stepped back and smiled brighter than ever before. Dancing a bit now was definitely what he’d need after such a performance.

He scratched his head and observed the female for some moments. Something was bothering, if not even frightening, her and although he was happy to see her she didn’t seem to share his excitement. Maybe she was having a bad day as well, he assumed and bowed his head shortly – trying to show that he wasn’t dangerous. “I.. eh- I’m sorry I didn’t want to scare you. I just got lost and would need some help…. Also sorry for bumping into you.” He really felt sorry and bowed another time, hoping to calm her down a bit.

Once she realized that the man in front of her is also confused, and a little stunned she calmed herself. It looks like he’s just another poor soul tricked into this mess as well. Her fists were balled up from the anxiety rising in her. She mentally sighed as she calmed herself down. So he’s lost too. Maybe he saw the people that were i the field with her? Her face lightened up as she smiled kindfully towards him. “Oh, no, no its okay. I’m just a little nervous that’s all.”

“So, you say that you’re lost. Could you tell me how? Also, do you have your phone on you? I need to call the police to report a robbery.” The small headache that was throbbing in the back on Hyuna’s head, where the culprits hit her. She figured that she should tell him why she’s there as well. “You see. I was helping this little boy to find his way home. But I guess that he was a decoy for a gang or for a group of people, to I don’t know, rob unlucky helpers.” She shrugged her shoulders. She was just glad that nothing else was done to her.

Damn why must she be so naive. This is what happens when you see or wanting to see nothing but the good in people. She should know better that not everyone have good intentions in mind.

[Headcanon]: Soonyoung owns two turtles called Namu and Pepper. 

He tilts his head as he’s noticing what’s going on. “What are you doing there…?” Kneeling down on the ground Soonyoung is shaking his head and picks up the small turtle walking across his way. The blonde boy is chuckling as it is getting startled and stops moving all over. It was like the animal didn’t even notice his presence until this very moment. “You’re such an adventurer! Why don’t you take Pepper with you when you’re escaping the box?” He’s chuckling and his finger pets the tiny head of the pet turtle.

Although he loves his pet more than he could ever explain – its name was Namu as the brown shell reminded Soonyoung of a tree – he had some bitter taste on his tongue when talking to it like this. Pepper, the other turtle he owns, actually has been a present to his best friend Youjin but ever since the older one had disappeared without a trace Soonyoung kept both of them at home. And as much as he tried to not think about what might have happened to Youjin seeing those two turtles – one way too active to stay inside the box and trying to find new adventures all the time and the other too busy to chill to even try and get just as hyper as the first one – he kept thinking about it all the time.

“Come on, let’s go back and get you some food~! You can’t leave Pepper alone for too long, you know?” Soonyoung kept on petting the tiny creature as he made his way over to his room where the box was located. He has never yearned for a pet throughout his childhood but taking care of those two turtles was his favorite thing to do in the past weeks.

which it seemed like he got his chance when he heard the clap, pivoting on his heels to glance at the other male with a smile so wide his eyes crinkled at the corners and vanished into crescent moons. not feeling shy for once, probably due to the fact he was running on no sleep, he allowed the person behind him to cut in front of him so he was next to the other dancing fellow. “good song, ya? you know how to move! really cool.”

The reason Soonyoung started giving dance lessons despite his full schedule were the happy smiles of children when they mastered some steps and showed them proudly to their parents. As a child he has been there himself but seeing how dancing was able to give some confidence and happiness to children and teenagers was worth every bit of trouble. Of course he’s not only teaching children anymore – in fact officially he’s not teaching them at all since he doesn’t have any kind of license – but that’s been the initial reason for his whole lifestyle.

And seeing that boy dance so cheerfully in the middle of the coffee shop made him even happier as it showed how effective dancing really was when it came to growing up confidently. He put on a huge smile as the younger one came closer and clapped his hands again. To Soonyoung the reaction of the other people didn’t matter – too often they set some rules which would cut out so much creativity and potential to be happy especially for teenagers – and he just paid attention to the other male.

“Thanks~ I could say the same to you!” he chuckles again, “Where did you learn to dance like this?” Soonyoung was just curious to know where people would be encouraged to dance in public like that – he was always frowned upon for doing that even by his fellow dance students and teachers. Maybe it was different in Seoul, he himself always told his students that it didn’t matter what other people thing, but from his experiences he couldn’t tell.

He smiled at the other, dragging out a soft ‘ne’ under his breath as he thought and then he glanced around, back towards the direction he had come from and where he was going. Only to settle on his next words with that. “I was showing my followers your dancing and they are curious. You just have to give your name and say hello, and answer a few questions,” Seungjun adds, before holding out his phone for the other to take. Some people felt better on camera when they were in control of the angle; not to mention Seungjun’s height tended to make it more difficult for him to film others. “You should introduce yourself, however you would like – my precious followers are really nice! I promise.”

After the disappointment of not finishing his routine Soonyoung couldn’t deny that meeting this guy was distracting and actually even cheering him up a bit. It may be weird – in fact it was more than just weird but furthermore extraordinarily strange – to get such a request in the middle of the night but still the blonde male had to smile as the stranger reassured him that he understood right.

Blinking a few times Soonyoung watched him explaining who he was and tilted his head. He didn’t take off his eyes of Seungjun but wondered why he was even talking about that. He didn’t think it was supposed to be bragging but it surely sound like that. Trying to not show his jealousy too much Soonyoung whispered under his breath that those were a lot followers – but kept only in his mind that people are crazy to follow someone for this. It was wasn’t his cup of tea but he didn’t want to offend the taller guy.

But just as the thought of him having so many followers as well crossed his mind Soonyoung stared at the other man stunned. “You showed them..? So many people…?” He wasn’t really scared or cautious but plainly stunned. Soonyoung knew exactly how good he was at dancing but he never saw random people caring about it. People who didn’t know what dancing really meant barely saw the real beauty in it. But while he was shocked he understood what big of a chance it was to promote himself. Some of the bigger agencies searched online for new talents and invited them to their auditions – and with a fanbase of only one hundred and fifty-somewhat people on his instagram Soonyoung surely wouldn’t be noticed by those scouts.

“I… eh, I can try...” he mumbled and slowly took the phone while bowing his head to Seungjun. He felt slightly pressured to do good as he held up the phone. Blinking a few times as he was finally able to read the comments he put on a shy smile and looked back to the other male for assurance that it was really okay.

“Hello~” he waved his hand at the camera and cracked his brightest smile before bowing his head lightly, “My name is Hoshi and I’m a dancer and choreographer. Just as my name promises I’m giving my best to become a shining star so please watch after me. I’m pleased to meet you all.” His smile never wears off while he’s talking – and feeling pretty weird at it – and he finishes his introduction with some v-sign-aegyo and a chuckle.

His glance falls back onto Seungjun and although he’s still smiling his brows knit together and he mumbles: “I think I’m not tall enough to film both of us...”

She brings a kind smile to her lips to her cousin, rising to her feet and heading back onto the topic that they’re on so that she’s not making awkward small talk. “If you want to teach here, we’ve got some spots open. What styles do you do now?”

His eyes were glued to the female as his name slipped from her lips. Although he had the feeling to recognize her from the moment he spotted her the knowledge that it just couldn’t be made it hard to believe. There were so many people in this world, so many dancers and studio owners in Seoul and still he would meet his cousin he saw years ago the last time? It just couldn’t be.

But as much as Soonyoung tried to tell himself that it wouldn’t be possible he couldn’t suppress the thoughts. Hyuna didn’t look anything like him, on the streets nobody would even believe they are related, but looking at her Soonyoung could see his father’s features on her face. It was weird how genetics were working but the male always thought that his father’s family was easy to recognize – while he took after his mother.

Still being deep in thoughts Soonyoung barely realizes how the female is moving and blinks rapidly as she starts to talk again. She’s standing suddenly and always years passed by and Soonyoung grew quite a bit ever since he saw Hyuna the last time it was clear that he wasn’t imagining things. Right in front of him stood his cousin, the woman his parents had talked about badly after hearing what kind of people she spend time with. Soonyoung couldn’t stop wondering if his parents were talking bad about him as well…

But quickly he shook his head and took a deep breath. As it seemed Hyuna didn’t want to talk about how long they didn’t see each other and maybe it would be better for himself as well. It was weird to talk about business like nothing has happened but sometimes it was for the better.

“It’s Hoshi...actually” he smiles lightly and scratched his head – it was definitily weird to correct someone who knows his name how to call him, “And actually I do everything?” A soft laugh bubbles from his lips and he wonders if it’s alright to act like this. Sure he didn’t expect an professional interview but laughing at such a question still seemed weird. “Mainly hiphop of course. And some lyrical – that’s what most people prefer as it seems… But what about you? How…. Have you been?”

Soonyoung always fell victim to curiosity. Despite knowing that he shouldn’t ask after the woman tried to avoid talking about their past he couldn’t stop himself. His affords to ignore it would be in vain anyways so he preferred to ask right away.

I’m officially back from my hiatus ♥ so this means the fluff ball calling himself a star all the time is back~ I really got a lot of muse for Hoshi right now (which is the reason I’m going to prepare a bunch of headcanon-solos in the next days) and looking forward to continue where I left off~ 

But with my absence over the past three weeks there are some things to explain regarding what Hoshi did (or did not do) in this time. The most important thing would be him getting injured during dance practice in the night from august 5th to august 6th. Every thing else is under the cut:  [tw: mentions of depression, injury, losing someone]

. on august 5th Hoshi trained for some street performance he planned and spend his time at the Soundbox Studio after he got off from work . at 2am (on august 6th) he tried out some jumps and b-boying elements he doesn’t master yet and fell so hard to injure his back badly; although he tried to go on as if nothing happened after a few minutes he had to stop his practice as it was hurting too bad . he tried calling Youjin in hopes that he could pick him up and bring him home but Youjin didn’t pick up his phone; so he went out alone and went home on his own . Hoshi called in sick the day after because he was too hurt to even think about doing some deliveries, but at the same time he didn’t go to a doctor because he was sure it would get better on it’s own . on august 9th Youjin still didn’t reply to any of his messages and calls so Hoshi decided to go and see what’s wrong with him; arriving at his apartment he’s confronted with some strangers telling him Youjin disappeared suddenly and that nobody knows what happened to him . he takes Pepper (Youjin’s pet turtle he had given him) with him and finally goes to see a doctor to get treatment for the injury on his back . several vertebra and sprained and she’s not allowed to do any kind of sports until it healed fully . being depressed about both - being hurt and not allowed to dance and Youjin being gone with a trace - he doesn’t contact anyone and even avoids his roommate

It was adorable, Soonyoung’s explanation. The sweetness of it all made him feel as if he was getting cavities, and his stomach flipped. Never, a friend of his, had been so thoughtful. “A name?” he repeated.

“Well, jeez, let me think…” he leaned back against the sofa, careful not to wake the sleepy turtle. “Pepper. Yeah, it’s called pepper.”

Getting comfortable he put his turtle on his thigh, to have his hands free as it would try to crawl around the place to explore the area, Soonyoung decided to watch Youjin’s reaction a bit more. He wasn’t scared of it getting lost or hiding somewhere – turtles were known to be slow animals so he was sure he’d notice if it’d try to escape.

Seeing the genuine smile of the taller male made him happier than he’s already been. From everything he would’ve excepted the least would be the happiness he could see in Youjin’s face at this very moment. Making people truly happy with his actions was something Soonyoung always loved, he would never get tired of it. Even if it meant to not be rewarded with his kind of joy reflecting in their eyes 9 out of 10 times. He’d still try time after time. So he couldn’t take his eyes off his friend as he was thinking about a name for his new pet.

“Pepper?” he tilts his head lightly, trying to make fun of the other while shaking his head, “You’re really going to name a turtle after food? That’s the most creative you can come up with?” He didn’t mean it serious and the chuckle bubbling from his lips just as he finished his question would be enough to show that but in the back of his head Soonyoung wondered about it. He would have never guessed Youjin would be like this in such a situation. But it was just another proof one could always know more about other people.

Looking down onto his lap the blonde boy wondered how quickly the second turtle had made its way towards his knee, it didn’t seem like anything but the way it was walking were important to it, and held his hand protectively up to make sure it wouldn’t fall down. He was watching it now more attentively, blocking the way more often to make sure it wouldn’t get hurt.

“Do you actually know anything about turtles…? I mean.. what do they eat? And they will not turn out to be super-huge once they grow up, right?” Up until this point Soonyoung hasn’t even bothered about figuring out how to take care of such a pet. As a child he has had a dog – actually it was the dog of his father and it died when Soonyoung was seven years old but he still remembered it – but it surely couldn’t be compared to a reptile. Still the thought didn’t cross his mind until now.

she enjoyed helping those that passed her by, much more than she enjoyed performing in this kind of weather. it felt nice knowing that she was helping others in weather conditions they may not have expected, and it made performing in such harsh conditions feel worth it. “hey there. want to stand under this umbrella?” she asked, referring to the one that she was currently carrying. “you have such nice hair, and… maybe this will help you to keep it dry until you can reach some better shelter. it wouldn’t be difficult for you to get sick in this kind of weather, so…here.” she extended the umbrella in the boy’s direction, hoping that he’d take it (even though it’d leave her without). “you can borrow it, if you’d like.”

A groan fell from his lips as Soonyoung left the shop he has spend almost an hour in and was confronted with the fact that it was raining. As he has entered the shop it has been so hot that he felt sorry for the girls performing at the mall – dancing under conditions as extreme heat was a lot to ask from most people – but now that the rain was pouring down the male realized he hadn’t checked the weather forecast before leaving the house. He clearly wasn’t prepared for the change of weather and knowing that he could’ve easily grabbed a jacket before leaving was only making it worse.

Being lost in his thoughts of scolding himself for his mindlessness and thinking about what to do Soonyoung didn’t notice the female coming up to him until she spoke to him. He blinked a few times, wondered if he looked so lost that someone was offering him some help, and listened quietly as she was talking. Only after she stopped Soonyoung looked up at the umbrella and saw the logo of Nova Entertainment. Slowly a smile build on his lips as he looked back at the girl – he has heard the music every now and then but until this moment he didn’t realize those girls performing at the mall had to be trainees of Nova. Observing her for a mere second the blonde boy realized she had managed to get into the agency he was dreaming of every night.

“I… thanks a lot” his smile was as genuine and honest as it could be and he bowed his head lightly, “That’s really kind of you. But I’ll have to decline.” His smile didn’t vanish a bit as he looked at the female again, he was still as honest as he was always. “If I’d take that umbrella now you’ll get drenched in the rain and I can’t take the responsibility of you getting sick.” He’s shortly looking around, still looking for some way to get home as dry as possible. And there’s a possibility coming to his mind.

“But could you bring me to the other side of the mall?” he’s pointing at the building just across the open area some of the other poor trainee’s were performing BTD at this very moment before scratching his head, “From there I could get to the subway quickly so it would help me a lot.”

so far she hadn’t come out yet, instead she rested against the mirror and recorded her friends. for a moment people turned to greet someone who came in. it was a friend of friend and they were motioned to sit next to hyerim until they felt ready to take a chance and dance. hyerim paused to smile at the other, “hello, i’m lee hyerim.”

Soonyoung liked to get involved with other dancers as there was always something he could learn from other people. He liked to see how others would handle some difficulties, how they’d make up routines, how they master freestyle or just try to express themselves. Whenever he has the time – and being honest lately there hasn’t been much time next to being at work, preparing dance classes and choreographing some pieces – he tried to be in contact with dancers from all over Seoul.

So of course he immediately agreed to go to another dance studio with one of his students. He didn’t knew exactly how he knew that place but the way the boy was talking about the after-lesson sessions made him curious. Even if Soonyoung didn’t know anyone at that place he wouldn’t be bothered by it. Both his personality and his love for dance would always make it easy for him to get along in this kind of setting.

Being separated from the only person he knows literally as soon as they stepped into the room wasn’t bothering him much at this point. While his student immediately took the stage and showed up what he learned just a couple of hours ago Soonyoung sat down next to a girl with her phone in hands, as if she’d be ready to record what was happening anytime. Her ears perched up as she heard someone calling out for help. It could either be a poor lost soul like herself or whoever was behind this trying to lure her in. Looking around she was trying to find something to protect herself if it was the second reason. Alas she could not, “I gotta get out of her.” She wandered through the tall filed, her vision was obstructed from. She stopped as she heard the cry for help again this time it was close, too close. Before she could react she felt someone bump into her. Letting out a yelp she turned around quickly, stepping away, staring down a blond boy. “Are you one of them? If so get away from me! You’ve done enough.”

Sometimes Soonyoung didn’t pay enough attention to his surroundings. It’s always been a weak point of his, being to excited and all over the place to actually see what exactly is happening around him. But he never thought about it as something negative – after all this even meant that he overlooked anything negative most of the time. But slowly he started to realize this wasn’t as harmless as he tried to make it.

He should’ve been more suspicious, he should have paid more attention to where they were going.. but he didn’t. And that’s how he ended up in such a miserable situation. But he still didn’t realize how important it would be to look for the way before walking somewhere. That’s how he ended up looking forwards while shouting for help but walking backwards – without checking what’s behind him of course.

Just as surprised as Soonyoung was to bump into something – the mere fact that there was something to bump into in the first place was stunning – he felt a sudden feeling of hope rise inside his chest. This could be his chance to find some help, a start to figure out where to go to get home again. He turned around quickly and spotted the woman he obviously stumbled upon, only hearing her words before he realized what was going on. Not moving an inch he stood on the same spot and blinked confused. “Uhm… what?”

He scratched his head and observed the female for some moments. Something was bothering, if not even frightening, her and although he was happy to see her she didn’t seem to share his excitement. Maybe she was having a bad day as well, he assumed and bowed his head shortly – trying to show that he wasn’t dangerous. “I.. eh- I’m sorry I didn’t want to scare you. I just got lost and would need some help…. Also sorry for bumping into you.” He really felt sorry and bowed another time, hoping to calm her down a bit.
