The afternoon of October 2nd is a tough one for So Jisub to swallow. Dawon’s departure comes as a shock to all staff involved, including himself, and it will be worse, he knows, for the members of Luxe he will eventually have to tell. But So Jisub is used to dealing difficult news -- the job of CEO requires it more often than not -- and he finds himself making arrangements to visit Luxe’s dorm early the morning of the 3rd.
In the hours leading up to the fateful meeting, Royal’s CEO’s time is spent making decisions that are kept secret until all the necessary pieces have been carefully placed in their positions. On the 3rd, as promised, he relays the news about Dawon to the other members. “A new member will be replacing her,” he reveals and leaves the girls to deal with their grief for the next week. Luxe’s personal schedules are postponed until that time as the CEO continues to work behind the scenes.
On the same day as the revelation, he speaks with Im Nayoung, a former contestant of Royal Survival and one of Royal’s senior trainees, about replacing Dawon. To her, he gives time to make a decision and Nayoung accepts a new position in Luxe several days later. Neither Dawon’s departure, nor her replacement, will be known to the public until the next comeback is announced. After training ends on the 5th, So Jisub reappears at Luxe’s dorm to inform the other members of Nayoung’s decision. “She will move in the weekend of the 13th, and join you for schedules following that.” (IC and OOC-wise, Nayoung will not join the schedules officially until November’s idol schedule. She will be allowed to participate and collect points for October’s general trainee evaluation instead.) The CEO also emphasizes the need for professionalism (“Be nice to her, for Nayoung is also entering a strange, new situation”) and for secrecy (“If this leaks out, the group will be benched until I see fit.”)
As Nayoung prepares to sign the contract and move in, So Jisub orchestrates the schedule for the other girls for the following weeks. Promotions for their last album are concluding and new preparations for their next comeback are imminent. To finish out the promotional schedule, the CEO sends CHERI, ELLA, and YENA out to attend a taping of Dreaming Radio, as hosted by ChAOS’s Park Heejae. XAYAH and CELINE will be scheduled to attend a filming of Hello Counselor. While out in public, the girls are reminded not to mention anything regarding Dawon’s absence, as that will be announced at a later time.
Please note: as these schedules are granted by Royal Entertainment, they are not taken out of a group’s bank or the attendee’s debut points. Some appearances will be freely given so that a group will gain IC experience and popularity in the professional industry.
The girls will be encouraged to attend this year’s Halloween event, in which member XAYAH will be in charge of orchestrating and filming a V-Live while in attendance with the other members (should they choose to come.) This V-Live should record memorable moments from the event, as plotted by the members, and will be streaming live from Luxe’s Channel V-Live for a maximum of two hours. After the time has concluded, staff will tell Xayah to end the broadcast. During this public event, the girls are reminded to act professionally, while still showing off their charms, and to interact with fans (if recognized) in the ways they have been trained to.
For the Dreaming Radio appearance, those attendees will interact with Park Heejae and promote their recent album “Luv Game.” During the recording, the girls will be accompanied by their manager and will be asked a variety of questions (by Park Heejae) regarding topics such as personal lives (that’s right: dating!), their experiences as a rookie debut group, the shows they would like to appear on for fun, etc. You may get creative with the questions asked but, as always, be mindful to maintain a professional image. Scandalous answers may garner netizen attention! Take inspiration from f(x)’s appearance on Kiss the Radio for this writing portion.
For the Hello Counselor appearance, those attendees will sit on a panel and judge the stories as seen on this episode of the show. The other panel member sitting in (Jung Kaeun) is your senior and will take priority in offering advice/speaking about issues. The issues discussed in this episode are personal and consist of potential triggers, so please be mindful when writing to add necessary trigger warnings to all threads/solos, if needed. You do not have to write about all or any of the issues that appear in this episode if you do not wish to. “Backstage” experiences at this show will count for points!
You will gain +5 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH, +3 DEBUT POINTS and +2 ACHIEVEMENTS for completing the written requirements as explained on the idol tier page. jihyun had always been the type who loved an album’s b-sides more than the title. sometimes, if the title didn’t do the group justice -- the b-sides were always there to redeem the losses and all would be well.
for jihyun, in her humble personal opinion, she was thankful that for luxe’s debut mini album, there wasn’t a song she disliked. and that was her being honest -- there really wasn’t. sure, luv me sounded sweet, but the beat had always gotten stuck in her head after each recording. thrilling was intoxicating at best and was something she knew she would have listened to regardless of whether it was her group’s song or one moonlit group by a small company, it captured her heart in the way rhythmic r & b did when they had catchy hooks and choruses. and without u, was pretty self explanatory, like the rest of their songs, it would wind you down from a long day and still keep you energized ( she’d like to think it was because of dawon’s soothing voice during the chorus, but surely then she’d have to concede that now, she was being biased ).
but as soon as recordings had been squared away months prior, all that was left were the excessive dance practices that had been held every day on the hour until the very last minute that would lead them into their showcase. she was just itching to feel the audience’s cheers on her skin -- but that was a month from now, she had better things to let her mind concentrate on. like, just how was she going to remember all these dance steps in time for that spectacular showcase.
to think, a year ago, jihyun was among the worst dancers of her troupe -- trainees younger than her got steps faster than she did. and a year later, it wasn’t much different. jihyun still wasn’t the first to remember the steps, but at least -- she wasn’t forgetting them every other minute she wasn’t dancing them. maybe it had to do with the excessive practices, the constant repetition or the fact that her members had taken it upon themselves to drill the steps into their leader’s memory. ( it was probably everything combined but she really did love that her members tried to help the fumbling that were their leader’s not-so-left-but-still-left-feet ) it was also admirable that, she wasn’t just retaining the steps, but she was also following them pretty well -- stumbles kept to a minimum five per run and her hand to eye coordination was getting better.
she could finally see the improvement in her dancing, even if it had taken this long for it to bear fruit. another month more, and she would be ready -- not pristine as she would have liked but ... ready.
her dance moves, at least -- her heart and the egg-shell nerves that came with them were a different story.

interview refresher course
june 11th-15th, 2018
as usual, the toughest part for eunae is to remain both seated and relatively calm the whole time. even though it’s a mock interview (and the hundredth they’ve had since the beginning of the course on monday), the staff is still scrutinizing their every move and facial expression. they’re quick to point out if they yawn, blink too much, look absent or bored, etc. it becomes irritating after a while but they know it’s for their own good. the media can be ruthless and the general public even more. any picture or word can be taken out of context, twisted and posted online for people to judge.
how many times has she seen articles online that made it seem as if a celebrity had said the most disgusting stuff, only to look into it a little more and realize it was a big misunderstanding? she would hate for the same thing to happen to her. eunae can be impulsive and bold which falsely leads people to believe she doesn’t care what people think of her. while it’s not exactly a lie, she does want others to like her.
“eunae, for the fifth time, will you stop following the flashes? it makes you look like you’re not paying attention.”
she blinks, as if coming out of a daze, which makes the staff member scoff. “well, i guess you really weren’t paying attention. focus, please? the press will eat you up if you’re not careful.” his gaze then sweeps the whole group. “and the same goes to all of you. let’s start over one last time, we’re almost there.”
eunae nods and they all stand up, getting off the small stage. because yes, they also practice their entrance, from the way they walk to how they greet the fake journalists. no comments are made this time around since they want the girls to go through the whole thing without interruption. it’s important that they experience it all so they’re prepared for the real press conference. there won’t be anyone telling them what do do or say then.
she listens as she first questions are asked, doing her best to smile and nod at appropriate moments, sometimes looking at the member talking and sometimes just looking at the staff members. her turn doesn’t come right away but she mentally prepares for it, past comments coming to mind: look directly at the person who asked the question, don’t cut off a member talking, when uncomfortable it’s alright to take a pause instead of just spewing nonsense (which she’s proven to be very good at).
“Do you regret getting involved in the survival show?”
she dives in first, bringing her microphone to her mouth. “not at all! of course it was very intense and very hard but because of it we learned lot about the industry and about ourselves! i think the saddest thing is probably that we don’t get to debut with all the friends we’ve made during the show.” she thinks of lisa, and soohyun, and hyuna. “but i know i’ll cherish those memories forever!”
“How is it living with five other girls in a small space? Have you had fights?”
she has a small laugh. she shoots a glance over to the other girls, lips pursed before the finally answers. “we’ve been really busy with our debut preparations so we spend more time at the royal building than we do at our dorm. that’s not a lot of time to get into fights!” she laughs again. “but we’re six very different people, with different personalities so of course we argue sometimes.” she looks at jihyun. “jihyun unnie is a very good leader though, and we go to her with our issues instead of keeping it it, you know? sometimes it’s better to just fight, then we don’t hold grudges.”
“Are you currently dating anyone?”
they decided it’d be less risky to have a single person among them answer this, just in case their body language tells otherwise when they say they’re not dating (which they obviously have to). eunae thinks it’s dumb of the media to constantly ask idols that question considering there’s no way any of them will respond positively unless they want to kill their career before it ever started. “there’s definitely no time for that!” and is she lying? even the three of them that are in relationships could almost be considered single now. “debuting is more important than dating right now, i think it goes for all of us?” who would she even date anyway? everyone gets tired of her after a while she’ll probably never get passed the “some” stage.
“Do the girls who came from other companies feel welcomed by the royal girls? How did the transition go?”
dawon, jiwon and eunae exchange looks and silently decide on who’s going to answer. she isn’t sure how jiwon feels about it, but then again she isn’t sure how jiwon feels about most things since the group was formed. dawon and her, however, have talked a whole lot and they both agree on what she’s about to say. “i can’t speak for all of royal, because i think it wasn’t easy for some of them to accept us debuting over girls they’ve trained with for months or years.” again, there’s no lie. they got nasty looks from a lot of people at royal. “but it’s different for luxe members. and even the other girls who did the survival show. we weren’t girls from our companies, we were just girls with the same goal and the same... hardships. and it made us connect in ways i don’t think we connected with other trainees.”
ever since the secret santa, somehow the mug that he’s using now has just become jinseok’s lucky cup for just about anything. it’s seen ramen, coffee, and now, even cooler drinks to match the warmer weather. the only thing that sucks about it is that when the drink or whatever he decides to stick in it isn’t hot, the heart that’s supposed to decrease in “ health” doesn’t go down. jinseok has called it his extra life cup in amusement, but only to himself because he doubts anyone else would care all that much.
but speaking of the secret santa, and ironically the very mug in his hands - who should he see but dawon heading his way in the halls. it’s not often that he sees her, even though they always share at least a friendly greeting. hopefully this time though, dawon has found the time in between the luxe training sessions to stick around a little more. after all, it is almost lunchtime. “ hey, what’s up? they actually let you out of the rooms for lunch today?”

The teen hadn’t seen the girl since September. Well, not in person, anyway. He was lucky enough to have her bless his television screen multiple times, but he missed her presence. They had spoken through many text messages exchanged, yet it wasn’t the same as the time the two of them walked and talked and joked together. She was a wonderful friend and person in general, so it was obvious that he was excited to have the opportunity to hang out with her once again. He wasn’t sure he’d have the chance, and this may be his final chance for... a while.
It was clear that he was excited and proud of her, that much was shown the second he saw her and pulled her into a warm hug. Not too suffocating, however. He was big, but he was a gentle giant. Quietly and quickly laughing at the thought, he pulled away to get a good look at her as a fond smile formed on his face. “Oh, man... I feel like it’s been years since I’ve had the chance to see a real life angel in person. I already feel holier.” He had so much more that he wanted to tell her, but he knew he’d get to it. He was patient, after all.
