summary attending the local farmers market as a family of four and bumping into family later on.
warning(s) none!
It was a glorious bright day in Kildare, with blue skies and a hint of clouds. Rafe turned the corner towards the parking lot, and the streets of downtown were already bustling with activity. There were white tents lined up in orderly rows, each filled with colorful fruit, homemade crafts, or fresh pastries. The scent of warm bread, freshly made coffee, and luscious peaches filled the air. A local band set up near the gazebo played slowly, while somewhere nearby, bees hummed gently amid flower vendors.
Whenever spring comes around, the local outdoor farmers market opens till the end of summer. Opened every saturday⎯8am to 12:30pm. Everybody attends and leaves with a smile on their face. Rafe and you started going together when you were pregnant with your first born, Hayes, who’s now four years old.
You get out of the car, the air scented with honeysuckle and sunscreen, and walk around to the passenger side. With a faint creak, the back door opens, revealing your baby girl, five months old and just waking up from a car nap. Her eyes flutter, her cheeks full and rose-colored, and one small fist curls near her mouth. Her pink romper is somewhat bunched, and her soft headband has slid over one ear.
"Hi sweet girl, you look like you had a good nap," you say with a hint of laughter, and Paisley grins, kicking her little legs.
Rafe and Hayes were unloading a two-seat stroller. Haye knelt down and gently helped Rafe unwind the stroller. "You're doing great, bud," he replies with a smile before high-fiving him. "I'm a big boy, daddy," Hayes smiles.
"All good?" he questioned.
"Yep," you replied, brushing a crumb off Hayes' shirt. "Coffee first?"
"You know me too well."
First stop being coffee is a must⎯always. This coffee truck that always parked at the far end of the market⎯old but charming, with bright teal paint and string lights curling around the window. You ordered something different this time, a lavender honey cold brew with oat milk.
Your eyes expanded with the first sip, "babe, you need to try this!"
Rafe's brow furrowed with curiosity before leaning in and sipping through the straw, "Oh yeah," he murmured, "that's dangerous." He closed his eyes and pointed to your drink several times.
You began laughing at his reaction⎯his facial expression showed his eyebrows raised as he looked at you⎯amazed and secretly wishing he got the same order.
Hayes, now holding your hand, softly tugged. "Mama, can we get the fruit now?"
"You read my mind," you remarked, grasping his small fingers as the four of you moved down the row of produce tents.
Rafe walked beside you, gently pushing the stroller, while Paisley sat with her head slightly angled and a small fan attached to the cover. Her little feet kicked gently, and she looked up at Rafe with the cutest gummy smile.
He grins down at Paisley, kneeling as he walks, "You're already giving me that adorable smile, huh pretty girl," his soft kind tone melting your heart.
Hayes came to a halt in front of the tent that had captured his attention. You never let go of his little grasps as he guided you across the small space.
Paisley’s cooing in the stroller as you walk. Rafe’s pushing her along the cobblestone path while you hold Hayes’ hand, guiding him through the crowd. Vendors are calling out deals on peaches and homemade jams, a guitarist strums a soft tune near the corner flower stand, and the whole market feels like a movie scene.
Stacked strawberries, blueberries, cherries, peaches, and other fruits. The veggies were on the opposite side: lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots. You wanted all of them to go home. Once Hayes and you had chosen your fruits, you pulled out some cash and presented it to the older gentleman.
You carried the bag over to Rafe and Paisley, kneeling on one knee, putting them at the bottom of the stroller. “Find everything you need?” Rafe softly asks, looking down into your eyes as you stood up, “oh yes we did.”
Paisley started squirming about in the stroller, suggesting that she wanted out. She began to fuss as you crouched down to unbuckle her. Her gestures made it little difficult as she sobbed, "I know princess, mommy is getting you out" you coo, raising her up and caressing her cheek⎯Paisley lets out a sigh of relief once she's in your arms.
You passed by small business tents next, admiring handmade soaps, macramé plant hangers, and soft baby clothes. There was one tent with toys that Rafe felt Hayes would like⎯he got two toy cars⎯and you helped in finding another toy Hayes might like, but once he makes his decision, he won't look back.
"Hayesy, do you like this dinosaur toy?" You asked, kneeling at his eye level. He turns around, exclaiming, placing his palm over his mouth, "it's so cool mommy," taking it in his small ones⎯Rafe and you exchange glances, knowing Hayes is debating whether or not to take it.
He lets out a quiet sigh and hands you the dinosaur, saying, "It's okay, mommy, I have more at home," before taking a dinosaur position.
After walking around for some more, you bought a small floral bouquet⎯dahlias, sunflowers, and tiny white blossoms—and tucked them into the stroller’s basket. Lately, the house was missing new flowers and since the market has all you could ask for, you bought them. Rafe and Hayes got you your⎯aren’t they so cute.
So far, the morning has gone smoothly. The weather was pleasant, with intermittent chilly breezes. Hayes grew tired of strolling and sat in the front seat of the stroller. Paisley in your arms, safely facing forward⎯seeing what you see. She'd kick her legs out of nowhere and laugh out of nowhere.
There was an open seating area under a tree. Rafe and you decided to have a quick snack and take a rest break before returning to the car. Hayes sat in the chair next to Rafe, eating his meal. Paisley sat on your lap, babbled, and looked around.
"Today has been good, don't you think?" Rafe asks: peering at Paisley, who is pulling herself toward him, seeking out for him to hold her. "Definitely a good day, and we got out of the house," you smile, kissing Hayes' top of head.
Hayes smiles and leans into you.
"Y/N, Rafe!" You hear your names shouted out by two recognizable voices.
Rafe frowns and turns his entire body around; Sarah and Wheezie walk over, Ward and Rose trailing behind them with smiles on their faces. Hayes looks at both of you, unclear, until he turns around to see his aunts heading your way.
Hayes quickly puts his sandwich down and runs to the girls.
“Look at you bud” Wheezie chimes, softly nudging him, “getting all big on us.”
Hayes puts both hands on his hips, “I’m a big boy, Auntie Wheezie!” A look of proudness at his age amazes you and Rafe. For the longest time, he couldn’t wait to be four.
Ward and Rose walked in your direction⎯you bring Rose in for a warm hug then Ward. Both of you weren’t expecting to see each other here but it’s always good to run into family at the farmers market.
“Paisley, are you so happy to see your grandparents?” You happily ask her as if she can fully understand you but she can only beam with a loud squeal⎯forming her hands into a fist, extending her legs before kicking them with excitement.
Rose chuckled, “take that as a yes.”
You guys catched up for a bit before heading towards the parking lot⎯Hayes was having the time of his life with his aunties and Paisley fell asleep in Ward's arms. It was a perfect day.

my baby angel bunny princess oscar piastri doesn't need these fuckers at mclaren ... as an aston martin lover ... i'm saying an alonso and piastri pairing would change my brain chemistry ... no matter how insanely unlikely that is ...
spouses of McLaren employees have been on social media claiming Buxton and Chandhok weren't just pulling shit out of their asses and that McLaren legitimately did expect Oscar to have a higher ceiling, beat Lando without problem this year, and undoubtedly be their WDC.
Ironically enough, Stella was also confused by Oscar's performance last year because "The sim data [that Oscar admitted to doctoring by cutting corners and whatnot] says that Oscar should be .250 seconds quicker on average than Lando, we no understand why it's not happening!!1!"
When I was younger, and saw H2O for the first time (the second season), I hated Charlotte Watsford. And I loved hating her! But that got me thinking, several years later. Why? What was it about Charlotte that made her so hateable?
In her own way, Charlotte Watsford was the Little Mermaid
When we look at the H2O and the Little Mermaid, it isn't a stretch that the first thing we think of is red hair and we've long folded between the green vs golden tails. And thanks to "Red Herring", Emma definitely sported the look before Charlotte entered the fray.
(And yes, I had to go there with the red hair and pink dress combo!😆)
But looking back, I realized Charlotte is a lot like Ariel, but on a different level, and for that, I look at TV tropes between the book Hans Christian Andersen and Disney's interpretations (and to save energy, I'm using "Ariel" to refer to the Little Mermaid innboyh versions of the tale to save energy):
Love At First Sight - Ariel falls in love with the prince the moment she first sees him. In H2O, while I consider it "Crush at First Sight", it still applies that Charlotte liked Lewis from the moment she saw him.
She's Got Legs - Ariel trading her fins to get legs to walk on land. In H2O, this is interpreted differently as Charlotte being a human means she has no chance with Lewis against Cleo, a mermaid (as pointed out by Rikki!)
Gives Up Their Voice - Not a trope, but should be. Ariel gave up her voice and fins to walk on land and win the prince's heart (a task she fails in the book, but succeeds in the movie). In H2O, Charlotte didn't literally give up her voice, but more metaphorical as she put up with the girls' (mostly Cleo and Rikki's) passive-aggressiveness and verbal taunts for a long period, working through it to gain their friendship.
Violently Protective Girlfriend - In the movie, Ariel willing to fight Ursula to protect her prince. In H2O, after watching Nate attack Lewis over a damaged jet ski and tries to steal his boat, Charlotte takes it upon herself to get even and avenge Lewis's honor, no matter how risky it was.
Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! - In the movie, Ariel realizes her actions have consequences when her father takes her place when she fails to keep her bargain with Ursula. In H2O, the girls actions' were just as responsible for Charlotte going down a wrong path as it was for Charlotte to choose to do so.
Action Girl - In the movie, Ariel does tremendous feats from fighting a shark, saving a prince, and fighting Ursula. In H2O....basically every time Charlotte uses her powers up until the end.
It Runs In The Family - In the movie, this applies to Ariel, Triton, and her daughter Melody because Triton is the overprotective father who tries to keep his rebellious daughter safe and she runs away to become a human...which Ariel would do when Melody runs away and becomes a mermaid. In H2O, Charlotte discovers her late grandmother, Gracie, was a mermaid and sets out to become one herself.
Easily Forgiven - In the movie, Ariel was forgiven for all the trouble she caused and was still able to marry the prince. In H2O, the closest thing to this is Lewis forgiving Charlotte and telling her she'll find her other half. However, it remains unseen if the girls had forgiven her.
Fatal Flaws - In the movie was ultimately Ariel's curiosity, stubbornness and shortsightedness that early led to Ursula ruling the 7 seas, her father be powered and nearly her and the prince's deaths. IN H2O, it was Charlotte's stubbornness and ego that led her to abuse her powers, break ties with the girls, and eventually lose her tail.
Only the Leads Get a Happy Ending - In the book, Ariel's choice not to kill the prince led to her gaining a soul. In the movie, despite everything, Ariel becomes human and gets married to the prince. In H2O, Charlotte is left alone to regret and repent, leaving the girls to take joy in still being mermaids and Cleo having the locket & Lewis for her boyfriend.
Everyone Has Standards - In the book, Ariel's sisters gave her a knife to kill the prince so she didn't turn to seafoam, and Ariel chose not to kill him & let him be happy. In H2O, the girls consistently got angry with Charlotte for using her powers in public...which makes them hypocrites since they've been doing that since they got their tails too! (Cleo to mess with her sister or job, Emma for her job or to mess with someone, Rikki for vengeance, messing around, or protecting herself. Basically, they got angry for stuff they already pull!)
Bittersweet Ending - Based on the book, Ariel still died without marrying the prince, but gains a soul and becomes a spirit. In H2O, Charlotte may have to live with regrets, but she did enjoy her brief time as a mermaid and it says a lot more that she gave back her grandmother's locket (to Lewis, who gave it to Cleo) rather than fight to keep it.
Once you combine both adaptions together, Ariel and Charlotte aren't that different from each other and are really alike. The only downside is that Ariel found some type of happiness, one way or another. Charlotte, on the other hand, does not.
The worst part about your favorite character of a show not being the main character, them being classified as a villain, them being wildly and unnecessarily hated, them being ignored, and only being on in one season...
Is when you're also wildly untalented and unable to make the art you wish to see in them, and are too afraid to commission or request it from actual artists
Weeeeellp, I finally got my taxes done which has finally freed my brain from the anxiety prison it goes to when I have something important that needs to be done. Not to mention I need something to do that isn’t being incredibly pissed at Wandavision.
So... I started a Charlotte blog to be the change I wanted to see in the world. I’m gonna be reblogging all my collages and headcanons and stuff over there.
Thanks to @rainha-do-labirinto and @deafchild2000 in the notes, by the way. You guys are the best, and if anyone has any ideas please send them my way. I’m gonna try and gif some good Charlotte bits, maybe make some icon collections like I’ve seen for the others.
Of course! This is gonna be long, and I do apologize, but I feel strongly about how Charlotte gets unfairly trashed.
First and foremost, she was a victim of lazy writing, as was Sophie in my opinion. They all kinda were in the second season...
In the context of the show, totally different story. It's obvious she likes Lewis, but doesn't actively persue him until after he and Cleo break up and she even asks Cleo if it was a problem. While obviously passive agressively, Cleo still says no, it's not, they broke up. And what does Cleo and her friends do directly after that? Use their magic powers to screw over her and her mother because Cleo is jealous. She broke up with Lewis because she felt smothered but every time he attempts to hang out with Charlotte or even have his own life, Cleo freaks out and they all consider him some kind of traitor. Remember that episode where Cleo stalks Charlotte, reads her diary, and assumes she burnt down her old school? Or when Emma and Rikki used their powers again to mess with Lewis at the job that he got after Cleo was fired (which he had nothing to do with), and he was almost arrested?
Look at the season from her perspective: she's new, and meets a cute boy. They hang out platonically, though clearly likes him. He and his girlfriend break up, and her only crime at the moment is maybe being too overbearing trying to get with him, but Lewis never takes his foot out of his mouth to tell her he doesn't want another relationship at the moment until they actually do get together. She thinks they're getting closer, but he's always disappearing with his ex and her friends, who have been acting needlessly, for lack of a better word, bitchy to her. The more and more time she can't spend with him, the more obsessive she becomes with him (that's the kinda lazy writing I meant), to the point where when she finds out about mermaids, she figures, "He can spend time with me if he no longer has to keep secrets from me.
And what happens when she becomes a mermaid? Cleo goes from acting superior because she's different and has powers and therefore better than Charlotte, to being nervous and unsure of herself because now she's on an even playing field with her "rival."
And that's where the lazy writing comes into play again. These girls are feuding with each other... over a guy.
Cleo broke up with Lewis but clearly regrets it. Her friends tell her it was a good idea, they need space, but at the same time act like he shouldn't have moved on. They both obviously still care about each other, but refuse to tell each other. If Cleo truly had a problem with Charlotte and Lewis, I have no doubt all she had to do was talk to him and admit it was a mistake to break up and he'd go back go her. Instead, Lewis doesn't tell Charlotte what is obvious to us as the audience: that he is basically being forced into a relationship with her.
Again, from Charlotte's perspective: she's become a mermaid, now her boyfriend doesn't need to hide secrets from her, they can be together. But she needs to team up with the other mermaids, they have to keep this secret together after all. True, they clearly aren't happy about a fourth mermaid (Emma's kinda condescending, Rikki is passive aggessive and rude, and Cleo is playing the victim), but hey, she's a mermaid now, they'll just have to deal. So, she joins their volleyball team, helps them win, and everything seems great! And hey, she's discovered her powers!
And then the power goes a bit to her head, and it doesn't help that the others are treating her like a monster. Instead of helping her, they prefer to gloat and condescend, which pushes her further to want her to be better and to be alone. They're being such assholes to her, but instead of being beaten down, she's building her ego up in an attempt to not get hurt.
And the fight between her and Cleo? What, when Cleo and her mermaid friends are using their powers against a normal girl and her mother, they're powerful and cool, but when Charlotte is able to fight back, Cleo is suddenly the scared wittle victim and Charlotte is a cartoon villain who eats puppies for breakfast. It's okay for them to constantly use their powers in public for inane reasons, but when Charlotte tries to defend Lewis it's HER who is putting the secret in danger?
Am I saying Charlotte was in the right? No. But neither were the others. True, she had some attitude problems, but they acted like she was some spy sent in to do heinous deeds. When I watch the second season, I just see the other three forgetting how to interact with other people outside their group, because they just don't. They bullied Charlotte a hell of a lot more before she started to fight back, but it was framed in such a way that as soon as Charlotte was more powerful than them, the original trio quickly lost the attitudes and became more victimized to gain any moral high ground because they're the main characters. Now Charlotte's all alone, isolated and powerful, convinced she's special but everyone ignores her. She's driven kinda mad from the moon spell and the battle is three against one. She's alone, fighting against girls she tried hard to be friends with, only to be met with scorn, disdain, and suspicion. It all adds up to a psychotic break.
I chalk it up to the writers unable to write a antagonist who's main beef with the heroines was something deeper than jealously over a guy. But the way she becames more isolated and power hungry as the season goes on is so tragic and indicitive of something deeper: why is she so obsessed with the first boy she meets? What made this all seem worth it? And why did the mermaids hate Charlotte, but had no problem with Bella? Is it because she wasn't interested in any of their boyfriends and they didn't have to gang up on her?
I'm sorry, this is a lot longer than you probably wanted and longer than I should have gone on for. But yeah, Charlotte was a damn tragic character, and she deserved better, I stand by that. I understand why people hate her, but I just feel sorry for her.
FINALLY! We got a new one that has seen the light for the horrifics that was "H2O: Just Add Water, Season 2"!
First off, let me tell you how my H2O Experience started: Once upon a time, in the 2000s, a show called "H2O: Just Add Water" appeared on a channel called Nickelodeon (infamous orange logo and all). Kid!me like the premise: The idea of three girls going to an island and becoming mermaids and having to keep it a secret. Now, after first season ended, that was the last I heard of it. They replay old episodes fewer and fewer as time went on and I was convinced that it wasn't so successful and got canceled like some good yet low budgeted shows do.
Years later, in 2009-2010, I'm living in a new house with a different TV plan (Comcast/Xfinity), so I basically discover hundred of new channels and shows that I didn't know existed and that's how I discovered TeenNick (Nickelodeon for teenagers). I won't lie to y'all but I went a little crazy to see that the old show about mermaids had another season, but the catch: I was caught completely unaware and honestly believed that Season 3 (with Bella) was THE season 2!
(And presently, I wished that was the case! Don't get me wrong, I liked Season 2 and I adored Bella! She was something new that none of the OGs had!)
So, maybe another few years later (2013-2014), I just happen to be looking up the show on the internet and THAT'S how I found out my supposed season 2 was actually a season 3!
No biggie, so I read about it and you wanna know my interpretation of the plot: The girls get new powers but they can't control, so in turmoil, they don't realize this girl with malevolent intents is going to crashing into their lives to destroy it.
Sounds pretty much what most of the H2O fans were meant to see portrayed happening, right!
And for that I'm so glad their a difference between a script writing and actors' portrayals because what I READ and what I SAW were two different things!!!
To start, the girls were freaking put about their new abilities because, in comparison, the girls' abilities S1 were babies! Like Level 1, Beginner's version! S2 basically went up to Level 5, Highly Advanced (bias, but my interpretations) and they needed to get a lid on it quickly or else they could do some serious damage! (Seriously, no one talks about what would've happened to Lewis after the girls practically lifted him out of the VOLCANO and into some deserted part of the jungle!)
Then we meet Charlotte Watsford, who meets Cleo (after she accidently sprays her with water with her powers) and Lewis. Yes, their were hints of a potential crush (slightly hinted with the portrait she drew of Lewis), but she was only acting out of friendship and realized they shared similar interests. And I think people tend to forget that had Lewis not been with Charlotte the day she was painting on the beach, the girls would have never had got the method to help control their powers!
Now, Cleo dumps him and he perused a friendship with Charlotte. And for the most part, he deserves this after all he puts up with for the girls. And Cleo is getting ridiculous with her longing for the guy she dumped in the first place when he was trying to help her. She's stealing, embarrassing and even, with the help of the Emma and Rikki going as far as to sabotage the girl's mom while trying to do a business deal with Cleo's dad (another thing that could have ended horribly BTW! And notice Annette- Charlotte's mom - got an apology but her daughter didn't!)
Then, while Cleo and Lewis rekindle their friendship, while Charlotte and Lewis are on Mako Island, the latter literally has to kiss the former to protect Cleo, who stupidly followed them and landed in a small pool of water. (I will acknowledge Charlotte tried to trick Cleo into studying all day so the Lewis could take her, but not the point!) This leads into Charlotte and Lewis dating, the guy not telling her that he wasn't interested when she should have done so!
And Then, with a rekindled friendship, Lewis is ignoring Charlotte and lying to her. I think at this point, the girl was entitled to find out why. Any person in any relationship wouldn't put up with that for long.
And by chance of following him, she was indirectly introduced to Max Hamilton. We already know of the 50s mermaids, but we were unknown that they had a Secret Keeper of their own. He was basically the Lewis of the 50s, did his own research of the moon pool and was the former boyfriend to one of the mermaids, Gracie.
Charlotte had went to Cleo's house and found her and girls amongst old antique-est stiff. After reassuring her that nothing was going on between her and Lewis, Charlotte would have left and had been nonethewiser, until she saw a picture of Gracie....and recealed that she was Charlotte's GRANMOTHER!!!
Now this is were I get pissed off because, unless I'm stupid, when a normal character is revealed to have an unknown supernatural history, that in itself is just asking for said character to go looking where others wouldn't want to! And excluding what Charlotte did to find out the truth about mermaids, I don't blame her. She saw the tape with her own eyes, Gracie herself told stories to her that now seem more true than ever, and someone is trying to take that truth from her? Nah, Charlotte becoming a mermaid was inevitable and no one can tell me otherwise!
Now, I'm not going to list the (bad) stuff she did as a mermaid, but I will acknowledge the more badass stuff:
She basically discovered the Secret all by herself in 2 episodes than Dr. Denman, Zane, and Will altogether. And 2 of the 3 took a whole season!
When she discovered her powers, even with Rikki and Cleo seething down her neck, she never let it stop her from mastering control of her powers, which means she got the basic powers PLUS the upgraded ones on the same night.
(⬆️) She mastered complete control of her powers in the matter of weeks! Whereas the girls took months. BADASS!
Can we talk about how she had no trouble putting Nate in his place after bullying Lewis!? We don't give her the credit she deserves! The girl knows that if she had the power to do something, she'll do it.
Can we also talk about how she levitated 3 people at once and then proceeded to make a BADASS 3-headed snake! Full Moon or not, she had control and imagination down patted!
Finally, let's get to the part where I would publicly denounce Season 2 as a whole for what they did!
I refuse acknowledge that season because,f anything, it was in heavy need of a Script Doctor. Basically, almost all the characters were out of character and needed to be called out on it. For example, Emma puts up with Rikki on a daily basis (attitude included), so putting up with Charlotte shouldn't have been an issue. In fact, she should have realized that she needed to try another method and call Rikki for her callous behavior towards the girl. Instead, we get a far opposite approach. Cleo needed to be more truthful about how she felt from the start.
First, argue with Rikki and tell her it was her stupid idea to dump Lewis in the first place.
Tell Charlotte that she did have a problem and that it was a mistake dumping him in the first place.
Actually give Charlotte a chance and spend time with her before condemning her.
Definitely apologize for the Dinner Incident.
Not been so hard on Charlotte for her mistakes. Seriously, her time with Rikki should have taught her something by then.
Honestly, just apologize for all the wrongdoings she did.
Rikki....I have no personal love for her, so I'm just gonna state that someone should have put her in her place since the beginning. Loyalty or not, she contributed the most negativity this season than all 3 combined!
I know Charlotte made her choices, but unlike the rest, she actually APOLOGIZED!!! Moon-crazy or not, at least she admitted her wrongdoings and to me, that was probably what made her the best character that season. She good but has flaws. She can be nice, but her sense of justice can and will kick in! She may be overbearing, but will back off if you give her a reason to. She's just like any realistic girl who watches H2O and the only reason anyone can hate her....is because they know they have and can be in her place. Alone, isolated, ignored but persistent. You could put her down, but she can adapt if need be.
She's better for that and if only the girls had seen that, everything wouldn't have ended so badly.
Sorry, I'm still not done. Here's just a list that frigging bugs me about how they treated Charlotte.
1. How can they attack Charlotte for giving Nate what he deserves, when in the same season Emma is doing the same thing to help her brother while on a crowded soccer field, amongst other thinge. What, it's okay and not at all suspicious when a patch of ice appears out of nowhere? It's totally not at all hypocritical?
2. They are almost never nice to her. The only time they are civil to her it's when she helped them win a game and kept them failing a class. She didn't HAVE to join their team, they didn't even tell her, she found out on her own and volunteered in a genuine attempt to befriend them. Even then, they were terrible to her until they started to win.
3. Rikki claiming she "stole" her tail or some bull. I'm betting that pool's been coming to life every month for the past however long, but, what, are you only a legitimate mermaid if fall in ass first by accident? The universe becomes out of balance if you know what you're getting into? I don't think Rikki's ever had an actual conversation with Charlotte, she hates her for no reason. The closest arguement could be that she hates Charlotte because Cleo does and Rikki's ridiculously loyal, but it seems to go beyond that. She said she's never liked Charlotte, and never will, but like, why? We never see them have a one on one conversation!
4. Like @deafchild2000 mentioned, she discovers her triple powers and masters them super fast (on her own!! They were too busy congratulating themselves for their superiority over Charlotte to actually help her) showing she's pretty damn disciplined and smart, but the girls treat her like she's an idiot child trying to play with a ray gun. Every word from their mouths when they talk to her is condescending and belittling. Anyone notice Lewis pretty much steals Charlotte's technique to help the girls control their powers early in the season but never says, "Hey, it was Charlotte that gave me the idea)
5. Of course she's pissed that the boy she's dating keeps running off to be with his ex and lying to her constantly. I might write a fic where she gets fed up and dumps him early on, then totally on her own continues to research her grandmother's past and becomes a mermaid by accident.
6. Not to repeat myself but it is glaringly clear that the only reason Cleo and Rikki (not really Emma at first, she at least seems to want to give Charlotte a chance) act so superior to Charlotte is because they have an upper hand she doesn't know about. It pisses me off to no end that the second Charlotte is on an even keel with her, Cleo acts all innocent and helpless, like she's the victim in all this and never did anything.
7. Charlotte is literally the grandchild of one of the first mermaids! That is so interesting, because I bet even if she had never fallen in with the others, she still would've discovered Mako. She has her grandmother's paintings, which are pretty detailed, she could've followed them, then maybe accidentally fell into the cave like the others did, discovering the moon pool.
8. Can you blame her that she got fed up? Three girls are being outright nasty to her, the boy she likes lies and brushes her off, she's got all these powers that she has a grasp on but is being treated like a thief or an idiot. She has no one else to talk to about her powers or what she's going through so she's by herself, being villainized and eventually becomes what they think of her. It was a self-fulfilling prophecy: treat her like a monster until she becomes one and then pat yourself on the back for seeing it coming.
9. I think what I hate the most, again like @deafchild2000 said, is how out of character they all are. I love Rikki, but she's just so nasty in this season, it's hard to.
10. Why was Lewis apparently not allowed to have a life outside the mermaid group? Every time he talked to someone, the girls descended on him, shrieking about their secret and how he was gonna tell everyone. They just hated Charlotte and pretended they didn't under a cover of needing to protect their secret.
11. I bet if Emma hadn't left when Bella came to town, they wouldn't have been terrible to her even then because Bella became a mermaid in Ireland and didn't talk to their boyfriends, which is the only reason they hate Charlotte.
12. This all could've been avoided if Lewis was just honest with Charlotte about how he felt instead of stringing her along. And if Cleo stopped waffling over whether or not she wanted him back.
Charlotte deserved better. I have this horrible idea that the whole ordeal gives her terrible self-image problems, seeing herself as a monster because that's what she was led to act like. And she's never mentioned or seen again, so what happened to her? If they moved, why? To where?
It's the sulking in the cooldown room every.single.time. that takes me tf out. How do you look at a man, who claimed for a year now, that he's so focused and cool and calm and collected, and still say he is mentally strong and iceman-like. We're talking P2, bro. And he's out there acting like he got P17. Jesus fucking christ. Looking at everyone like they killed his mother.
"No friends, only enemies". You're doing an awesome fucking job, buddy. Keep it up👍🏼
P.s it's okay to experience anger and frustration, those are normal human emotions! The problem is that he decided to go with the emotionless agenda, and the sulking kinda beats the purpose of that.
What kills me is that it’s ongoing 😂 This is the third P2 where he’s sulked in the cooldown room like someone stole his lunch.
Yeah, I’m totally buying the coolcalmandcollected branding with that attitude.
this is the truest thing i’ve ever read : lando spends race weekends like, “lol I just wanna have fun :)”
lando just here to have a great time, he lives his childhood dream and he’s just grateful for this life and opportunities to be a formula one driver to one of the greatest team in this industry
@landokilencwins and I were talking this morning and we both think something flipped for him in Canada. Team politics and all the bullshit aside, he just looks...way more at ease. Like he’s got this quiet strength now. More confident, calling himself a winner, actually winning. Not saying he’s lost his edge, he’s still self-critical, but there’s something different.
No doubt McLaren’s screwed the sport for him. But since Canada, it feels like he decided to take back at least some of the joy he had going into this. Yeah, he’s still chasing wins and pissed when he’s not at 100%, but his main goal now is to actually enjoy the ride (as much as you can at those fuck-ass speeds, lol).
If that leads to more good results, then hell yeah.
when oscunt is gonna have to stop 6 seconds for lando to pass by IN A RACE then its gonna be even but until then its never gonna be even.
Though, lando doesn’t need that oscunt to stop for him when he can do it on his own and when oscunt can fuck his own race up.
The day Lando wins because Oscar gets a 5s pit stop while Lando gets a 2s one, with Tom not coaching Oscar on Lando’s line, Oscar’s battery dying every time Lando’s behind him, and Oscar driving a car built to favor Lando?
I sensed something sus was going on when lando said to will that his tires are gone. You could not convince me lando fucked up his tires in the first stint of the race. My driver is better than that. Then goaded others into pitstops and led for sooo many laps 😂😂
Okay, let’s get nerdy for a second.
Lando started on Mediums, which at Hungary usually last 15–25 laps. He got past Alonso early and then spent a chunk of time stuck behind George in dirty air and trying to overtake. By lap 14, he said the tyres were struggling. By lap 18, they were basically gone. Maybe he was bluffing (would be a first), but I don’t think he’d risk giving bad info to the team, that just risks screwing the strategy for everyone.
So what does he do? He backs off, manages the tyres, and waits it out. By lap 31, he finally pits, having stretched those Mediums about 6 laps longer than they should’ve lasted.
That’s why, when Will suggested taking the Hards to the end, he was like “fuck it.” If he dragged the Mediums longer than expected while fighting in dirty air and overtake attempts, maybe he could do the same with the Hards in clean air and no challenges.
Worst case? Oscar catches him and overtakes him because Oscar would be on fresher tyres. Lando finishes P2, which would still be better than P4.
And in the end? He did take the Hards 10 extra laps than their expected life. Managed the hell out of them and had enough life left to fight Oscar off because if you’re in that position anyway, why not go for P1?
God-tier management. Our driver is a GOAT and I will not be convinced otherwise.
Lando saying he doesnt wanna play mind games with oscar is so funny when you look at oscar sulking in the cooldown rooms for getting p2. Not dnf-ing, but p2! This is enough to fuck with his head. Nothing hurts more than watching your competitor win. And oscar can’t even choke out a nice ‘well deserved win lando’. To me, oscar is already miserable with lando catching up, getting love from crowds, having close friendships with the drivers, having a charming and cool personality, being able to express emotions without reeking of toxic masculinity. Its funny 🤣
Lando saying “I didn’t do anything wrong, just a bit unlucky at the start” after getting swallowed into P5 so fast that the data sites are all showing that he started there?? No panic. No self-flagellation. Just vibes.
That’s post-Canada character development, baby. That’s “I know who I am and I know what the fuck I’m doing” energy.
