Can anyone relate to this after the first week of classes?
YES, LOL!! I remember starting and then came along PrepU, ATI, and all the textbooks!! I knew nursing school wasn’t going to be easy, I came in thinking I was prepared but there’s so much!

Found some pretty good inspiration on facebook this morning. Remember to always be proud of how far you’ve come & believe in yourself. We’re going to make amazing nurses one day!
Great motivation Carleen!! I LOVE it! As challenging as nursing school is, it will totally be worth it. I love that we are learning to save lives and will make an impact on so many people! Thanks for sharing :)
I couldn’t help myself, lol! Use your critical thinking skills guys.
LOL! Yes, that's how critical thinking feels!! Thanks for the laugh Yolanda!
Count Down
As of today the count down can begin! 30 days till the end of the semester! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Hopefully it is not another train going to hit me! LOL Don’t get me wrong, I love nursing school and where it is gong to get me- but the time, energy, tears, all nighters and figuring out when/how to eat, shower and do laundry is crazy! Here is to the last 30 days of this semester! :)
Catherine you got this!! I can definitely relate, sometimes life can get so overwhelming between school, work, family, responsibilities, etc. the list goes on. You are going to be a great nurse though and you will make it to the end of the tunnel, no trains, LOL!
Staying Motivated
At the beginning of the semester I was really motivated and excited, but as the semester carried on I started losing that spark of newness. This is the point in the semester when you really just have to keep pushing because we are almost there. Only 4 more weeks and then we are one semester closer to graduating and being nurses. Time is really going by quickly. It feels like the program just started, but we have only three semesters left.
Yes, Naomi!! At times it can definitely be hard to stay motivated but with the semester coming to an end, we just have to push through! Accelerated nursing is no joke! We can do this though!!
End of the Semester
4/11/2021
I can not believe this semester is coming to a rapid end. Every week keeps passing by faster, before we know it, it’s gonna be May! I also can’t believe our clinicals are over and our last lectures are approaching. I feel like I need to hit a pause button to find time to study!! There is so much material to go through but I also feel confident that we can do it! Good luck everyone!!
vSim for Nursing
2/19/2021
It is very unfortunate that we are unable to do onsite Med Surg clinical rotations, however, we are making it work through the completion of virtual simulation experiences. Patients have a multitude of complications in which we must address. Although the vSim’s are educational, they are not the same as actual experience on a Med Surg unit. I look forward to our on-campus Med Surg Simulation next week!
YESS, I PASSED!!

Exams, 2 days in a row! What a week. I’m glad I passed but now there’s new material to start studying. We got this though!

Another great day at Dupont! I am so grateful to get to do my pediatric clinical rotation here. I am learning so much and the hands on experience is AMAZING!! I LOVE being able to interact with a nurse one-on-one to care for patients and ask questions along the way! For Valentine’s Day I surprised my clinical crew with some donuts, which we enjoyed on our break 💗

Between COVID and the ice storm yesterday, STAY SAFE out there hustlers. Don’t forget to spread GRATTITUDE to those you love and care about, including yourself. SELF LOVE is NOT selfish it is NECESSARY!

Pediatric Simulation
2/08/2021
Monday (2/8) was a simulation day on campus. Another nursing adventure in person and not off a computer screen! I think it was a great experience for my peers and I to practice skills and later debrief on what went well and what could have went better. I took away a good amount of knowledge in which I will continue to use through my nursing career. I will admit, the mannequins were a little scary, but you have to adapt to the given scenario and treat them as real patients. If you are reading this and have not completed simulation DO NOT FORGET TO BRING YOUR WIDENER ISSUED FACE SHIELD, LAPTOP, AND PREP WORK. Good luck fellow classmates!

First Day of Clinical for Pediatrics
1/31/2021
Sunday (1/31) was my fist day of clinical at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children. Of course it also had to be the fist big snow storm of the year! Unfortunately our clinical experience was cut a bit short, however, it was certainly made up at home through the paperwork that we didn’t have time to complete at the hospital. My peers and I had a lovely tour of DuPont, which was very quiet, due to COVID and it also being a Sunday afternoon. After the tour, we completed a scavenger hunt of the unit we were on to help learn where everything was and where to find equipment we may need throughout our clinical. Then we were assigned our very first patients. Of course, because of HIPAA, I don’t want to disclose too much information, but it was a great experience!! I am so grateful DuPont is allowing us to complete our clinical rotation at their hospital. Stay tuned for more fellow nursing hustlers!
