a little personal response / tribute to "here's the life i've always longed for" by Anna Haifisch. the original means so much to me, and even though it's hard, I feel like every day i'm making more steps toward finally being on the other side of that fence <:)
the worst is wanting to create and create and create but being trapped in a body that is so so so so tired
being a little handsy

every year on this date i think about the exact same thing. its not just that the serbs in srebrenica killed over eight thousand innocent men for being bosniak muslims. its that they also scattered their body parts in different hidden mass graves kilometers apart from each other. about a thousand havent been found yet and its been twenty eight years as of today. so the victims families, even when they do get notified that a body part of their massacred brother or father or husband or other male relative has finally been found. often times years after theyd died. years they had to hold onto bleak hope that maybe somehow theyre still alive out there. have to decide whether to have that body part buried that year. and finally give the deceased some sort of a dignified resting place . or to wait a bit longer and see if maybe their arm will be found in another mass grave that might get uncovered later that year. or a leg. or ribs. or the skull. if you bury what of the body has been recovered so far. what do you do with the rest if its found later. how do you make that decision. how is anyone meant to make that decision. i dont think ill stop thinking about it as long as im alive
For anyone else who is hearing about this for the first time, here is the wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Srebrenica_massacre

folie a deux is the best fall out boy album because there is something genuinely evil about it somehow
i don’t know how to explain it but you can listen to tttyg which is very outwardly angry and hurt or to cork tree which is kind of…. angry and hurt that is directed inward? but folie feels like a normal album that secretly has bad intentions. there is a deep simmering destructive rage within fall out boy’s early music and it’s usually very obvious but with that album specifically it kind of creeps up and jumpscares you
it’s also very clearly recognizable as the last album they made before going on a hiatus. it’s sort of a danger days thing where you can kind of tell that the band was eating itself alive during production like there is just an incredible malice and sense of threat permeating the music that is NOT present in save rock and roll (which i personally, despite the content of the music videos and such, would consider a rather triumphant and victorious album as a whole)
Science side of Tumblr here! This is because of the will of God.
blows up a random stranger with a rocket launcher for no reason then falls to the ground weeping histrionically & receives the tender attention & support of everyone present
if i was orpheus i just wouldn't have turned around lol
just went and got eurydice. this is so easy
um. awfully quiet in this tunnel.
“When my nineteen-year-old son turns on the kitchen tap and leans down over the sink and tilts his head sideways to drink directly from the stream of cool water, I think of my older brother, now almost ten years gone, who used to do the same thing at that age; And when he lifts his head back up and, satisfied, wipes the water dripping from his cheek with his shirtsleeve, it’s the same casual gesture my brother used to make; and I don’t tell him to use a glass, the way our father told my brother, because I like remembering my brother when he was young, decades before anything went wrong, and I like the way my son becomes a little more my brother for a moment through this small habit born of a simple need, which, natural and unprompted, ties them together across the bounds of death, and across time … as if the clear stream flowed between two worlds and entered this one through the kitchen faucet, my son and brother drinking the same water.”
