Zach had been getting the later shifts so he could go to classes and actually finish his year. This week was a little chaotic, getting used to the knew schedule, going to Senior meetings and the such, it was the first night he got home and wasn’t absolutely exhausted. Unfortunately for him, homework was abundant, and he had papers due at lengths he never thought he’d have to write but there he was. Sat on the couch. Netflix on. And his fingers clicking away at the keys. His books were scattered across the coffee table and on the couch.
He heard the door click, or at least he thought he did, but at the moment he was too in tune with what he was doing to really take notice. Robbie hadn’t really been home lately, not that Zach was really home to say otherwise, but the last time they actually spoke was… Different. He figured the other male just needed some space so he kept quiet, grinding away at his work, only looking up when Robbie spoke. “Sorry.” He mumbled, sighing and stretching out, reading over his last couple paragraphs. “I’m taking different shifts since school started, I work the evening shift tomorrow.” He explained, ruffling his hair. “Don’t you work tomorrow?” He asked, looking for his phone to check for texts and notifications.
Robbie poured himself a glass of water and took a sip as he listened to the explanation. It certainly made sense. “Oh, right, I forgot about that,” he lied. All he could think about was the fact classes started back up but he didn’t want to start up another groveling over it.
The young man finished up the water before deciding to join Zach in the living room. “Yeah, I do. That’s why I’m here tonight,” he admitted. If he didn’t have to work in the morning he definitely wouldn’t be here. “But not until like... 11, I think,” he added trying to remember what his schedule actually was now that he had to cram classes into it.
