Don't Leave Me Now || Ryatt
The score was matched, Wyatt was leading the game out of all team mates. He’d steal looks at Robbie from time to time when he thought nobody would notice. Wyatt played better when he was angry anyway, and looking right at Robbie was perfect motivation. And when Wyatt would look to the crowd, he’d see Chad, which would only push him more.
The last two minutes were on the clock. Robbie was ready, near the basket, clean shot and everything, nobody surrounding him. “Wyatt! I’m open!” He called.
Wyatt immediately turned to Robbie, though his arms didn’t budge to pass the ball, he was frozen. “Kopf, what the hell are you doing? Pass to Spoden!” His coach yelled out to him, throwing his clipboard to the floor. The pressure was all on Wyatt and he showed more vulnerability than he could ever be comfortable with. “No!” Wyatt yelled back to his coach, appearing more frightened than he’d like.
A member, who was positioned right next to Wyatt, from the opposing team noticed Wyatt’s struggle, smirked, and decided to speak up, “Pass the ball to your boyfriend already, cocksucker.”
Wyatt chuckled a bit, dropped the ball, and stood perfectly straight. “I’m sorry, what did you just call me?” It was as if Wyatt had gained all the confidence he ever had in that instant.
“Yeah,” Wyatt grinned towards the gymnasium floor before throwing a punch right at the boy’s jaw, letting him fall to the floor. The player laid limp and unconscious but Wyatt had no sympathy and kicked him hard in the ribs before walking out of the doors, leaving everybody stunned.
Once he was outside and heard the doors swing open again he knew that Robbie had run after him, Wyatt wish he hadn’t. “I know,” Wyatt said, his shaking fingers running through his hair, his breathing more short than usual. “I fucking know, I just…I-” As Wyatt turned, he was eye level with Robbie. His eyes screamed innocence, like a lamb in the wild, and Wyatt longed to keep him safe. He wanted to take this all away from Robbie and assure him everything would be fine, but he couldn’t, and it screwed his brain up. “I just…” Wyatt said again, just above a whisper, almost speechless and finding himself in Robbie’s large, chocolate eyes. Wyatt couldn’t help himself, grabbed both sides of Robbie’s face, and kissed him hard. More hard than the first actual kiss between the two should’ve been. He kissed Robbie as if he were hungry, as if it were his only chance at surviving. “I think,” Wyatt started as soon as their lips parted. “I think I’m gay.”
And just like that, Wyatt Kopf did something he thought he would never do. He told the truth because it would save something he cared about. Wyatt finally shared something private about himself because he knew he would loose Robbie if he didn’t. There was no longer space for Wyatt’s mind tricks, no more space for hiding. Everything Wyatt had was out in the open. As he was still holding the sides of Robbie’s face, he spoke again, “Please say something, please.”
