hey yall. can we have a really quick and chill conversation about how the word “FREAK” is ONLY used to describe the aliens and Robotnik and Stone in the SCU? Literally Robotnik and Stone are the ONLY human characters that are called freaks. Robotnik is called a freak during the scene with Walters in the Pentagon while they’re talking about how he’s a little weird (“I can’t believe you’re bringing that FREAK into this.”). Stone is called a freak by the bald customer in Mean Bean as he’s walking away under his breath after seeing Stone’s drawing of Robotnik in the foam.

Maybe this is just my own personal experience, but the word FREAK feels so charged. Btw I’m not succinct or chill about this topic AT ALL!!!!

I like pre SM1 stobotnik as much as the next guy but there's something about post SM2 stobotnik that really scratches an itch in my brain

They've known each other for years

Stone defected from a government agency (of which he was an elite agent) to wait for Robotnik, who he was certain would return despite Robotnik literally disappearing into thin air

Robotnik returned looking older and messier and Stone was just as attracted to him as he'd ever been

Stone begs to come along with him as Robotnik metaphorically flies too close to the sun with the Master Emerald

They fall, together

Stone pulls Robotnik from the rubble and does his best to heal his body, his loyalty never wavering even as it becomes clear that Stone cannot fix Robotnik's mind

But they stay together anyway, on the run, and even though Robotnik is different in both mind and body from when Stone met him, Stone wants him more than ever
