Alt capelet version
The Wishing Star Institute for Promising Young Witches (often just called Wishing Star Institute, or WSI, for short) was the first arcane academy dedicated to the nurturing and refining of female mages in all of Twisted Wonderland. Founded on the legend of the Blue Fairy, holy protector of the wishes residing among the stars, it promises her students that while studying there their magical abilities will grow until they are able to reach their true heart's desire. Residing on the main island of the Land of Dawning, Wishing Star Institute is considered 1/3 of the Holy Trinity regarding Arcane arts academies (the other two schools being Night Raven College and Royal Sword Academy).
• The Northern dorm, POLARIS : Based on the northern star that guides the lost souls with its shining light. Students under her care grow to be natural-born leaders and specialized in the most ancient magical arts, regarding wisdom, knowledge and strategic thinking above all else.
All students of Wishing Star Institute are assigned one of the four dorms at the orientation ceremony of their first year, where the will live for the first three years of their school careers. These dorms are:
Prefect(s): Tala'a Kheperet and Nāga Jangalī
• The Eastern dorm, SIRIUS : Inspired by the brightest star that resides in the night sky. Students selected to be at this dorm are usually flashy individuals that aspire to be the best of the best and shine brighter than their peers, it holds the magical arts close to her core and you can always bet that wild creativity runs through the minds of its residents.
Prefect(s): Coeur Lockewyn and Lyra Undertow
Prefect(s): Evadne Hemokratía and Bev Marzipane
• The Western dorm, VENUS : Named after the planet nicknamed "the morning star", that shines the brightest just before dawn arrives. The students that reside on this dorm have a "live and let live" philosophy, believing that goodness and good fortune will come to you if you give back the kindness you take, the students in this dorm often specialize in Potionology and Alchemy
• The Southern dorm, CANOPUS : Based on the brilliant supergiant of the Carina constellation. Students from this dorm are often the most athletically inclined in Wishing Star Institute, known for their competitive spirit and their brilliant aptitude at practical magic and curses, this dorm's students often strive to the number one spots of any sporting competition.
Hiiiiii!! I bring to you a new voice claim, this time THE all-time diva <3
• Coeur Lockewyn was born and raised in Fleur City by a fairly wealthy family.
• Her father is a famous jeweler that creates and sells his pieces for some of the most influential people of all Twisted Wonderland, he cuts the gems and melts the metals used himself. Meanwhile, her mother is the brains of the operation, the one who designs all their pieces.
• Thanks to them, Coeur is basically an expert in the craft. She designs and makes all of her own jewelry.
• Coeur was quite an ugly duckling as a kid. She has never quite fit the mold for traditional feminine beauty standards: her shoulders too wide, her hips too narrow, her features to sharp, her frame too tall.
• In fact, her glasses are actually prescription. She is far-sighted and had a looong string of frame stat did NOT suit her face at all.
• This didn't stop Coeur's mother in signing her up for every possible beauty pageant available once she reached middle school.
• Coeur was a very emotional child. She ugly cried, she threw temper tantrums, she smiled only because she wanted to. Her mother taught her that when she was in front of people she had to shove all those ugly emotions into a little box in her mind. That was the only way to win in the entertainment world.
• Coeur hated everything about the pageant world, but she was luckily liberated from it when she was recruited by a modeling agency. The modeling world was no better than pageantry, but Coeur became entranced by the photoshoots. She liked having her picture taken a million times better than performing for judges.
• Coeur was fascinated by photography. To capture the beauty of something si permanently. She took up photography herself and keeps her favorite photographs in an ornate box.
• It was during one of her photoshoots that she met Vil Schoenheit and, as child models in a ruthless industry, the two became close friends across the years.
• In the end, Coeur became Vil's closest confidant. His little treasure box where he could but the ugliest sides of himself and trust she would keep them safe. His anger, his jealousy, his insecurities. Coeur came to know them all.
• It was to the surprise of absolutely no one when the two started dating when they turned sixteen. Even when they both got accepted into different arcane academies, their relationship stayed strong.
• It was Coeur who designed, made and gifted Vil his signature heart-and-sword hair stick and necklace for their first anniversary. Coeur of course having her own earrings and necklace to match.
• It was the summer before their junior year that everything went wrong. Coeur, having entered the vicious wolf den acting was thanks to Vil, was casted to act alongside no other than Niege LeBlanche in a rom-com.
• This project caused a great rift in Vil and Coeur's relationship. Vil's own insecurities and jealousy regarding Niege reared their head, tainting his trust on Coeur and clouding his judgement.
• Their relationship finally reached its end when a gossip column published a secret of Vil's that no one other than Coeur had previously known. This caused a massive fight between them. One ending in Vil coldly ending the relationship and Coeur's inner box bursting in a truly ugly display of emotions.
• When Coeur came back for her third year in WSI, she was more than decided to leave Vil and the acting world behind. Focusing in her own modeling career and her jewelry making.
• Coeur vindictively led Wishing Star Institute into the Vocal & Dance Championship, hoping to crush both Vil and Niege.
• After Vil's overblot he apologized for how their relationship ended, for his ugly words and his misplaced distrust. Coeur didn't forgive him, but both are actively working in repairing their relationship (Rook couldn't be happier).
Finally finished reading the Usurper from the Wilds novel, and since some many people liked my yapping about the Rose-Red Tyrant I'm once again shoving my thoughts down your throats (kinky). I'm gonna be specially annoying in this one, cause Ruggie is my absolute fav so be prepared, this gonna be long. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!
• Okay, to start. I love how close Yuya and our favorite Heartslabyul freshman are. Ace and Deuce literally spend their Sunday helping him install/fix storm shutters in Ramshackle.
•Though they wouldn't be NRC students if they did it for free, in the book their payment for their help is that Yuya would treat them to that one bakery's items for lunch. Apparently in the novel world Crowley actually does his job and provides an allowance to Yuya
• The book itself took me a little longer to get into. It obviously didn't have the first introductions/detailed descriptions that made the first book so charming to me, but it's not at all bad, that's just the way book sequels are. Luckily, there are always new elements of Twisted Wonderland that are discovered and described with awe (and fear) by Yuya.
• Speaking of: Yuya, my precious anxious angel, is no longer as much of a social pariah after Riddle's ov, at least not in class 1-A, Heartlabyul students have basically adopted this little ball of exposed nerves. Love that for him. They even defend him when he's mocked for not knowing what Spelldrive is.
• I know I said this last post but: holy FUCK I love the novels' world building. Crewel explains the rules of Spelldrive to the class by drawing stick figures that move across the chalkboard.
• We also get first glances at the dorms personalities through extra characters when Savanaclaw and Diasomnia students start arguing. While Savanaclaw students were loud and prideful and reading to throw down while arguing how they'll win that year, Diasomnia students remained calmly seated and cool headed right until the moment Savanaclaw bad-mouthed Malleus.
• RUGGIE MY LOVE. We get Ruggie POV and boy did I eat that UP. We see Ruggie's musings about the environment he's in now in contrast to his home in the slums and how getting into NRC changed the trajectory of his life. We also get an in-depth look of his and Leona's VERY complicated dynamics. (Warning, they'll be MANY Ruggie rants as we go down).
• We also get Riddle's POV and how the aftermath of his ov not only has affected him in health but also has left lasting social consequences for him and other Heartslabyul students. Riddle's overblot was not kept hush-hush between students. It's also mentioned that Riddle's mother was informed that he ov'd and basically verbally and emotionally abused Crowley until he agreed not to expel him.
• In the housewarden meeting, we also get a description so immersive about Leona's speech against the Malleus/Hall of Fame plan that was genuinely inspiring. This scene and many others make you exactly understand why everyone in Savanaclaw follows him so diligently and with so much pride. One of Riddle's musings is that he'd like to learn how to inspire such a feeling in his own housemates, how to imitate that that makes Leona so loved by his pack.
• Unfortunately, Crowley bullies NRC's resident pushover into investigating all the incidents across campus. We get to see and interact with the Pomefiore trio. And again, Yuya has gay af descriptions (especially on Epel, boy got called "surprisingly adorable", "painfully delicate, like a sugar confection that would crumble at the slightest touch" and "fleetingly ephemeral")
• Riddle going full smothering mode on poor Trey, poor baby feels so guilty. My multi shipper ass got so excited when Cater called Trey "baby" and this gay bitch (/pos) proceeded to then call literally everyone in the book that.
• Yuya is still terrified of Riddle so of course they get paired up together to investigate.
• Enter Floyd and Jade Leech who are described as eldritch horrors just as the Lord intended. It's so great how you can see Yuya fall for the facades Jade and Azul put up just to realize something is deeply wring with these sociopaths.
• WE GOT A SILVER SCENE, HELL YES (plus Lilia jumpscare). My boy Silver is perfect and it shows even more in the novel. I love how the novels' actually use the club connections to introduce character relationships, rather than everyone simply knowing everyone.
• Deep insight in how Riddle + basically everyone in NRC sees Malleus as this ungodly eldritch demon that razes everything they love to the ground and humiliates them on live TV. Of course Riddle voice these thoughts in front of Malleus' vice housewarden (pseudo father) and housemate (adopted brother) and got his head chewed off by an elderly 5'2" goth/alt gamer war veteran single father and his Disney princess son.
• Riddle muses to Yuya how, despite he abhors how unpunctual he is, he'd also like to lean from Malleus how to be a better housewarden as the students under this care hold great esteem for him.
• As always, Grim is the one to blame for how ridiculously fast they got on Savanaclaw's bad side. Cater was a real champ in couching and protecting the first years, and was constantly trying to deescalate. Honestly believe Cater is the MVP in the whole book cause my boy gets put throu the ringer, his wife (Trey) is injured and know he's the only one holding the leashes of Riddle, Ace and Deuce.
• The Spelldrive match with Savanaclaw was BRUTAL. Like, reading it genuinely fills you with dread. It really makes you feel like the Heartlabyul boys and Grim are getting ripped apart by wild animals. Cater's ear was knocked and left bleeding by a disc that flew too close, Grim was getting body slammed and Deuce had blood in his spit.
• Leona is DEVASTATING in the field, he literally only has to move a hand and the disc is his. Also ponytail Leona for the win, this asshole uses his magestone as a hair tie omg.
• Poor Yuya gets to deal with the most conflictive house, he's here for a long time but not for a good time.
• Jack is introduced and I always forget how much I like him by the end of the book. I must admit that his unshakable moral compass annoyed me at first, but that's because in certain ways I'm like Ruggie and prefer to work smarter rather than to work harder.
• Jack and Ruggie give me younger/olde brother vibes but like, not in an entirely good way.
• MALLEUS/HORTON INTRODUCED. I said before than he's considered an ungodly eldritch nightmare dressed as a boy by the students, and Yuya's physical description and the vibe he gives off totally match that. This was NOT a Malleyuu interaction my poor boy Yuya was quacking in his PJs.
• Riddle was SO MAD when he found out the hell Savanaclaw put his card soldiers through. And even though Ace and Deuce think they got chewed out because Riddle's pride as a housewarden was hurt, we KNOW he was deeply worried for them and wanted to make sure they were ok.
• JAMIL AND KALIM CAMEO. I'll never stop saying this, I love the way Yuya describes the characters. Kalim is a warm ray of sunshine for Yuya after months of interacting with assholes (lovingly). The novel also makes a great work of making sure we see the contrast and dynamics in the Scarabia duo. Jamil was seeing right through their bullshit.
• Signature Spells/Unique Magic is perfectly described as something deeply personal, essentially a mirror to a mage's true personality. As I said before this book has amazing world building, be have a brief part when Yuya is investigating on general knowledge of Twisted Wonderland and we get introduced to the different countries and basic layout of the world with Sage's Island as reference.
• This book made me realize just how much Riddle is meant to work in courts of law. He still has a lot of growth, but as soon as Ruggie was laid on the table as the prime suspect he was insistent on interrogating him and "finding his weak spot". He was also ready to resort to threatening him of necessary.
• Ruggie's persecution gives us glimpses of his unfiltered personality. His resentment towards the rich kids in the academy and being viewed as the prime suspect just because he's a hyena (even though this asshole did it lmao). We also get ANOTHER Ruggie POV. He describes how, in the slums, having even the most minimal magic is rare and celebrated. That him getting into NRC basically makes him a hero to his neighborhood. We also see how deeply Leona inspired Ruggie, enough for him to briefly forget about being realist and dream a grand future for himself and his granny. We also see how much Ruggie has to dance around Leona's moods.
• We see how the epic bromance between Jack and Deuce flourishes and I think that's beautiful (they beat each other up). In contrast, when he confronts and rejects Leona as a leader, we see how easily the entire pack turns against him. It's honestly a gut wrenching scene.
• In his interactions with Jack, Yuya also deploys the life lesson he learned last book thanks to Ace and Deuce: ✨speaking his mind✨
• We get this neat og scene of an assembly where all dorms are informed and instructed on what to do during the student teams parade towards the coliseum. I love boring little add-ons like that. It makes NRC feel like a real school.
• The stampede scene was SOOOO well-written, it feels genuinely terrifying. We also get a THIRD Ruggie POV.
• The confrontation scene is SO GOOD man and so devastating for Jack, he's considered a traitor. Cater, once again is the MVP and deserves an award for his awesome performance as the Diasomnia team. Lilia, Silver and the rest of the team arrive to the confrontation too and Silver is SO SAD and disappointed in Ruggie omg.
• The overblot scene is devastating ofc, but I think the best and most relevant scene is the one where (after Leona gives up) Savanaclaw is ready to tear into him and drag him into the field themselves. It's so powerful of a scene, I'm actually going to leave it below. In muy humble opinion, this is the best part of the book.
• Leona's Unique Magic is so fucking terrifying, it's described as a genuine nightmare. It's an amazing scene too, so I'm leaving it down below too because I have no words for it.
• *me seeing how Leona is ready to kill Ruggie* LEAVE THAT LITTLE GUY ALONE!!!!!!
• Leona was genuinely ready to let Ruggie live as soon as he renounced to his hopes and dreams and joined him in his depressed apathy. But my boy REFUSED and stood his ground even though he was starting to look like a raisin.
• I remember people condemn Lilia for pushing Leona into the deep end with his words. But, knowing what I know now about book 7 (and spoilers for people who haven't played through yet) I think his reaction was valid. Not that it was right, it was valid. He was fucking enraged, a whole dorm had basically planned the downfall and the boy he consideres a son. The boy he helped hatch from his egg, MELEANOR'S BABY that he looked after for almost two centuries. His papa bear instincts were acting up.
• On another note, LILIA SAYS "Y'ALL" 😭😭😭😭
• Leona's overblot was a literal force of nature, he created a lethal natural disaster. No one could get close enough to beat the giant monster. You remember how I said that Riddle's monster was really maternal and full of baby metaphors?? Well, Leona's almost acts like a pet that weights on Leona. The lion was described as "sad and tired" as it snuzzled up to Leona. The only way they beat Leona was because Ruggie woke up from being half-dead and teamed up with Jack and they combined their UM.
• I'm going to admit something here, I don't want Leona fans coming after me. I genuinely believe Leona had a good reason to overblot, his anguish, hopelessness and self-loathing became too unbearable for him and it's all so valid. All overblots are valid. My problem lies in the huge contrast between Riddle's aftermath and Leona's. It always bothered me how Leona never seemed to have learned the error of his ways and repent for them like Riddle did. Riddle's immediate breakdown after he overblotted was such a raw show of pain that when Leona wakes up it's almost....underwhelming. Now, I understand that they're two different people whose pain comes from very different places. But idk man, I guess I wanted some whump.
• I also really liked Cheka's appearance. It's one of my favorite scenes in all book 2, he's such a cutie and his relationship with Leona is so hilarious. He forever ruined Leona's though guy rep for everyone in the infirmary lmaoooo.
Just finished reading the Twst: Rose-Red Tyrant novel and since I'm annoying I'm shoving my thoughts down your throat. It's been done before but idgaf. SPOILER ALERT!!!
• Amazing word building. We got scenes of Yuya actively discussing and reacting to the differences between his world and Twisted Wonderland with other characters and learning the norms of their society. The casual everyday magic they show is an amazing (like Cater using his finger to magically write the dorm names on a table and then blowing the words away like sand).
• Never shipped AceYuu sm oh my god. Ace and Yuya have so much "he asked for no pickles" energy.
• Yuya, my anxious king you make every single interaction sound like a scene from a horror movie and I love you for it. Probably my favorite Yuu, but I'm really biased towards novels in general. I just connect better with the characters that way. He would rather khs than handle confrontation of any kind.
• Yuya's biggest fear for the first part and then some is Ace and that is so reasonable. Nothing scarier than teenage boy dead set on hurting your feelings.
• Ace went from being Yuya's biggest fear ti being the person he admires the most in a single night. This are only some of the words he used to the describe Ace all across the book: cute, pretty, mischievous, cheerful, awe inspiring, ingenuous. (Those are all I remember at 2am)
• Deuce is such a sweetheart man. He sits with Yuya when no one else does. He's just a man who loves his mom. I really love him and his relationship with Yuya and Ace. Good feels all around with these three.
• Yuya's descriptions of people are everything. He referred to Riddle as "ethereal" and shit-your-pants scary in a single sentence. He also describes Riddle's dorm uniform cape as "longer than he (Riddle) is tall" and that's hilarious to me. Yuya never lets you forget that Riddle is short.
• POV changes that were peak. We got Ace's pov of the tart incident and of course Riddle's flashbacks (RIDDLE, TREY AND CHE'NYA AS BABIES MY SHAYLAS).
• LOVE LOVE LOVE CHE'NYA. That's all.
• Peak CayTrey representation. They have some amazing one-on-one moments. Cater is AMAZING and Trey has so much personality, I like him much better in the novel than in any other interaction (again, I'm biased). They are a married couple, Riddle is their eldest daughter and Adeuce are their troublesome twins. (Yuya is the neighbor kid that's always at their house and Grim their stray cat (Che'nya is their actual house cat)).
• Hi. Do you have time to talk about our lord and savior CATER WITH A PONYTAIL??? I love this little gay man <3.
• Again, Yuya makes every high conflict moment sound like a nightmare. He was genuinely upset at himself for not being able to stand up for Ace against Riddle (gay /pos).
• Crowley is actually sort of useful as an educator in this.
• The teachers and the ghosts are AMAZING towards Yuya. I love them sm. Uncle figures all around.
• It got me to sympathize with Trey when they confront him in the library. First time that happened.
• Crowley warns them all early about blot and what it does. I liked how they explained blot and over blotting.
• Riddle's overblot sound nightmare-ish. A LOT of mother/child/baby motifs and analogies to describe it too. My favorite was when they described the rope of blot conjoining Riddle and the monster as an umbilical cord (actual words).
• NGL, it gets really psychological with you. Psychoanalyses even the Heartslabyul background characters.
• I liked all the little added details. I love those.
• My GOAT Ruggie Bucchi has TWO (2) whole scenes and that makes it 10/10.
Hiiiii!! To you presenting my one (1) boyo (for now, maybe)!!! It's not that I don't like boy ocs, but girls are easier more interesting to draw in my experience.
• Dorian in an only child raised in Kingsville, a really really small (and made-up by yours truly) town in the Queendom of Roses, not that far from Crimson City.
• He was adopted as a baby by an elder couple. His parents often joke he napped inside a teapot as a baby because he was so tiny and they often found him asleep in random places.
• Dorian had always enjoyed sleeping a little more than the average person, always napping whenever he could. It definitely doesn't help that he has an outrageously irregular sleep schedule that he's not planning on fixing soon
• His moms run a tea house and it's considered a local hotspot. Dorian has been helping around the shop since he could walk and even before then.
• Dorian is deadly afraid of cats.
• Dorian struggled with making friends as a kid so his parents made him practice a wide variety of sports he didn't really liked, until fencing that is. He became quite good at it too and even competed in tournaments.
• In middle school he went through a phase where he would dye his hair (plus ears and tail) brown to match his mama's, he's not longer that much into the look and decided to grow out his hair.
• Getting accepted into Night Raven College was a surprise. Dorian was aware he had magic (he often used it for this little parlor trick costumers liked where he made the teapots and cups dance) but he never expected to be accepted into such a prestigious school.
• Dorian was selected into Heartlabyul and was Riddle Rosehearts' roommate for a whole week before Riddle became housewarden. Neither enjoyed that as both were complete polar opposites. ("What is this feeling?" from Wicked starts playing).
• Once Riddle because housewarden it was like he had it out for Dorian, for his first month in NRC was spent with his head "off-ed" and working in the hedge maze. But Dorian is nothing but petty.
• He has all 810 rules engraved in his memory and once he got his collar off Dorian made sure to never give Riddle an official reason to punish him again. See, for one has to know the rules to know how to bend them.
• Rule #89? He already had a replacement tart ready by the time Riddle found out, complacent to Rule #53. Rule #153? Why isn't black tea made of tea leaves and therefore made from herbs? Rule #271? Why housewarden how could he be infringing it of he still has food left in his plate, obviously he's not finished with his meal. So on and so forth.
• He spent all of his freshman year dancing around Riddle's rules and since he can't be punished for rules he never really broke (much to the red head's displeasure) he was given a title only the most troublesome of Heartlabyul students are given: the Knave of Hearts.
• At the start of his sophomore year he mostly avoided Riddle considering it was more effort than it was worth to keep twisting the rules in his presence. Until two of his freshmen, a magicless prefect and a talking cat came looking for him for info about how to deal with Riddle.
• After Riddle's overblot the two became closer and eventually became actual friends (and then even more than friends *wink wink*).
I think the funniest dynamic of shipping with the twst guys, is that no, these guys aren't suave at ALL, they're actually a bunch of idiots who fumble the bag while trying to flirt but they're lucky they're pretty and their efforts are endearing. It's especially funny when it's a guy who generally is pretty smart like Riddle, Azul, Leona, or Jade, but my god that goes out the window and they're an idiot in love. Also when the others notice and they're suffering from second hand embarrassment or find it funny as hell.
New voice claim!!! This one I'm particularly excited about because my girl Nerisse is the personification of whimsy. Is it cliche and unoriginal that her VC is literally Aurora? Yes, BUT- I just couldn't find that hauntingly beautiful voice anywhere else.
• Nerisse's family is one of the only humans that remain in Briar Valley, born to an anthropologist mother who died in childbirth and an ex-military father from the Queendom of Roses.
• Nerisse's father was left helpless after his wife died and, while he loves his daughter with all his being, he was clueless on how to raise a little girl.
• Nerisse was trained by her father from a very early age on all form of hand and traditional weapon combat. He essentially raised Nerisse like a little soldier.
• As a child everyone always confused Nerisse for a little boy, on account that her father didn't know how to manage her curls so he kept her hair short and she was always dressed in simplistic shirts and pants. All she wanted was to be pretty like the princesses in her mother's old fairy tale books.
• Eventually, as she grew older, Nerisse grew her hair out and leaned to manage it on her own. She also leaned to sew and embroider her own clothes with cloth patterns she found in the local library. Unfortunately she still has this insecurity about being perceived as "too manly".
• Nerisse has a very unnerving stare. In fact, her very own aura has an intimidating presence. If you were to ask, no one would be able to tell you why a seemingly normal teenage girl seems so creepy, she just does.
• She also loves to sing and she's actually really good but she has a vibrato so haunting that forest animals run away.
• Can you guess where she and Silver met? That's right, in a dream (because I'm that unoriginal, but it's a classic).
• Nerisse was having quite a nightmare the night she met a silver-haired stranger. The moment he arrived, the gnarled black thorn bushes trapping her in turned into beautiful wild rose petals.
• The first time they met, in real life that is, was in the Wishing Star Institute culture fair when they were both freshmen. He was visiting with his senior (read: his father) and looking for Malleus, who'd wandered away, when her displayed photographs of various swords and rapiers mixed with wild life caught his attention.
• Nerisse recognized him from her dream immediately, and she was going to introduce herself, until Bev told her that going up to a strange boy and saying "you're the prince of my dream" was not a good conversation starter.
• Literally the most oblivious motherfuckers ever, they could get married and not realized the other has feelings for them (that's Morwenna and Lilia's plan B).
• The most soft spoken couple ever while also being the most BAMFs ever. I'm talking whimsical picnic dates in the middle of the forest with horseback riding and swordfighting sparring matches.
Heyyyyyy, new voice claim!!! Evadne is one of my favs because I've been wanting to make a gyaru oc for a really long time <3
• While based on the Mortal potion given to Hercules, she's also based on Persephone because you can't have Hades without his wifey 😌
• Evadne was raised in the Land of Heroes by her well-meaning but overprotective single mother.
• Her mother is a botanist and a biochemist. She taught Evadne a lot about magical and non-magical plants throughout her childhood.
• Evadne loved gardening as a child, but she dropped it as a hobby around middle school and took up gaming and digital design. Her mother always complains about her ("you were such an outdoorsy child, what happened ti you?").
• She got groomed on the internet in middle school (Amino canon event), but luckily it never escalated beyond the screen.
• Her personal style is a mix of gyaru and scene kid, with some mcbling thrown in the mix. She also fake tans A LOT but denies it vehemently, she insists it's natural.
• A master at Alchemy and Potionology. Thanks to her mom she can recognize many herbs on smell alone if it came to it.
• Extrovert final boss, can have deep philosophical conversations with total strangers.
• Really sweet but can switch moods in a second if you piss her off.
• Met Idia on an online game forum and became her raid buddy. Then he became her online boyfriend (computer fantasy meme fr fr). They never met irl until the SDC: she was on WSI's team and he had to man the Board Game club stand against his will (otherwise Azul was coming for his ass).
• She's planning on going into industrial design for her internships and she actually has an offer lined up from no other than S.T.Y.X. (Idia denies any involvement). Her mom was not happy about this and they had a huge fight about it, her mom called Evadne naive for letting herself be dragged six feet under the ground by a boy.
• Evadne and Idia are Ortho's OTP, he's their number one fan and supporter.
• Evadne's ideal date is binge watching her fav anime and doing face masks or general self care, this is something Idia is very grateful for.
• Evadne was NOT playing around with the Phantom Bride. That is HER man, she got out of her room and got him all by herself and no one is taking him. That is to say, when she tried to save Idia not only did she fail spectacularly but also got forced to play maid of honor. The ghost attendants washed away her make-up and fake tan and gave her a ✨clean girl make over✨. Everyone hated that.
Another voice claim post!! This one goes out to @meltedbluecaterpillar who shares a birthday with Zhari!!!!
This outfit is her Royal Guard uniform, this is how she looks when she's taking care of Prince Cheka. As for the fun facts:
• Zhari has lived in the Elephant Graveyard district her whole life.
• Zhari has no blood family to speak off, she was taken in by Grandma Bucchi and brought up with the other Hyena cubs.
• It's rare for a lion cub to be abandoned and all alone. The thing is, her parents were kicked out of the pride in the main city for making an attempt at the throne. In their exile, hey abandoned Zhari as soon as she was born.
• When her acceptance letter from WSI she refused to attend, no matter how much Granny Bucchi berated her. At the time, Ruggie was a bit too young to work a legal job and if she went away they would lose the little income they had.
• Her school life looked a lot like Ruggie's does: odd jobs and gigs occupied her weekends and evenings, and every madol she made she sent back home.
• No one was prouder of Ruggie than Zhari when NRC's letter arrived. She scrapped together all the money she had saved and bought him a brand new pair of sneakers for school.
• When Zhari pierced her ears at fifteen, the piercings in her right ear because horribly infected. This is why she's missing a notch.
• She first met Leona when she travelled to watch Ruggie on his first Spelldrive Tournament. Zhari had heard a lot about the second prince of the Sunset Savanna from Ruggie beforehand, and recognized his actions in Ruggie's rantings about how careless and out-of-touch he was with money for what they were. She's very grateful to him for taking Ruggie under this wing.
• Leona was actually the one that got her the opportunity to internship with the Sunset Savanna Royal Guard.
• Zhari is really underweight. Not dangerously so, not like she was when she first started at WDI. Three square meals a day for three years do wonders but not miracles for someone who eats less than she should the rest of the year. Even now her ribs and hip bones are more noticeable than they should be under her skin.
So.....haven't updated for a good while. I had planned on uploading all my ocs voice claims and chibi designs on their birthdays, but I got lazy. So I'm going to be updating what few I have in now particular order. So heeeeere's Scotti!!! Now, for the random facts:
• Scotti is 10 months younger than her sister Bev, making them Irish twins.
• She's known Trey Clover, Riddle Rosehearts and Che'nya since they were all kids.
• Expert tea party planner, she and Riddle would always pretend to hold court like the Queen of Hearts.
• Currently a freshman in the Wishing Star Institute, still close with Trey and Che'nya. She hasn't talked to Riddle since the Mrs Rosehearts Incident™, until he invited her and Bev to Heartslabyul's Unbirthday Party.
• Quickly became friends with Ace and Deuce. They're always gullible and accept her baking experiments without second thought (though Ace is catching up and weary).
• Founder, president and only member of the Extreme Baking Club in WSI.
• Extremely clumsy, she hit a growth spurt right before freshman year and has long legs that she hasn't quite grown used to yet.
• Met Epel on accident during her school excursion to NRC's Spelldrive Tournament. She tripped into him when the crowd suddenly went nuts.
• She fell first, he fell harder/one-sided crush at first side/friends to lovers.
• Really sweet but surprisingly sarcastic.
• Igari girlie <3 + plus lots lots LOTS of accessories (more than I care to draw lmao)
• After she and Epel started dating, Scotti went through a phase where she would only bake apple recipes and all of them would be personally delivered to Pomefiore dorm. Vil nearly banned her for life after he found out the amount of sugar she was feeding his precious poison apple almost every day.
• Scotti thinks the world of Epel, in her eyes, there's no one cooler than him. She thinks he looks particularly handsome in his Spelldrive uniform. (She's paid Ruggie some good madols for videos of Epel during Spelldrive practice).
And of course it must be a Friday 13th!! Here's her chibi keychain design, but instead of her WSI uniform, it's the outfit she wears on HalloweenTown (maybe I'll redesign it later, not sure if I'm happy with the end results....)
But anyways, here's some facts about the birthday girl:
Before arriving to the Wishing Star Institute, Sybil lived a very sheltered life thanks to her father.
In fact, when her acceptance letter arrived, he absolutely prohibited her from attending. Claiming it would be too much excitement for her and that she wasn't ready.
The reason she wears a brace and needs crutches is also linked closely to her father, as Sybil once tried jumping off a window to walk free from his control. She ended up damaging her knee, which never healed right.
Sybil designs and stitches together all of her clothes, she loves overlapping fabrics and mismatched patterns.
Sybil was enamoured with Skully J Graves ever since she saw him for the first time in Foothill Town's plaza, after managing to gather up the courage to talk to him, he proceeded to talk her ear off about Halloween. Sybil didn't mind one bit, she was enchanted by his strange holiday almost as much as she was captivated by him.
Skully and Sybil, then mere acquaintances, were sucked in together to the Nightmare Before Christmas book during the book fair. They developed quite the bond during their stay in HalloweenTown.
Back in real life, even though they both forgot about their adventure in the book, they still felt drawn to each other with a sense of je ne sais quoi.
She was the one who designed and tailored Skully's nightmare suit. (She has a sketchbook full of designs for him).
In present day, somewhere in the Wishing Star Institute, there is a portrait of a young red haired girl with haunting eyes whom is known as the Queen of Halloween. Her body facing slightly to the right, and her creepy eyes gazing longingly to her side as if she had been separated from her other half.
Pet Peeve: Being treated like she's fragile or incapable
Favorite Food: Chocolate Beetles
Least Favorite Food: Worm's Wort Soup
Talent: Fortune Telling
Romantic Interest: Skully J. Graves
Unique Magic: PATCHWORK PROMISE - this spells allows Sybil to temporarily “patch” people together, it creates visible stitch marks between linked targets. It can transfer minor damage from one target to another or briefly share stamina between allies.
A student from one-hundred-years ago, Sybil is currently known as the Queen of Halloween. But before that, she was a timid yet incredibly curious girl with an overbearing and overprotective father, who dreamt of life beyond her father's laboratory and showing her fashion confections to the world.
Unique Magic: GRAVEKEEPER’S SUMMONS - Ossira can temporarily animate fallen objects into skeletal hounds or dragon-like familiars that can obey simple commands. However, these will crumble after a time limit.
As the daughter of a noble family of dragon fae belonging to Queen Maleficia's court, Ossira has been betrothed by Briar Valley's Senate to Crown Prince Malleus Draconia ever since they were only a few decades old. Ossira holds no love nor hatred for her intended, she'd much rather go hunting for bones in long forgotten graveyards and to gain a mentorship under the Queen's own right-hand woman— Madame Morwenna.
Unique Magic: SHADOW’S CLAIM - Zahri marks targets as “hers,” then controls the battlefield through their shadows. Once marked:the target’s shadow becomes heavy and sluggish, their movements gradually slow, Zahri can briefly immobilize them by “stepping” on their shadow and within her marked territory, her own speed and reflexes increase.
Born and raised on the Elephant Graveyard slums of the Sunset Savanna, despite being born a lioness, Zahri has been forced to fight tooth and nail for scraps all her life. She's become incredibly loyal to Prince Leona Kingscholar after he so generously employed Ruggie Bucchi (who is like a little brother to her) on his first year and secured her an internship in the royal palace for her fourth year— even if she did end up as a bodyguard for the little royal heir.
So here's her in the chibi style from the anime, dressed in her Wishing Star Institute uniform AND announcing her voice claim.
Also, like I did with Bev, here's some birthday girl facts:
• She knows Azul and the Tweels since childhood, having transfered to their class in middle school. They also went to the same land training camp in the Sunshine Lands.
• She was born and raised in the tropical waters of the Coral Sea, but moved to the template waters of the capital due to her mother getting a job in the Atlantica Memorial Museum.
• Like Azul, Lyra has suffered some discrimination due to her weight but she never let it get to her.
• Like any merchild raised on the Coral Sea, music is very important to Lyra. She plays the harp really well and is part of the Orchestra Club at Wishing Star Institute and even plays at the Monstro Lounge (for a price, of course).
• Really sporty, besides surfing she also likes volleyball and soccer. Lyra really likes what she calls "leggy sports".
• As a couple, Lyra and Azul have a "don't ask don't tell" agreement towards his deals. Lyra doesn't particularly care to hear about how someone's idiocy landed them on her boyfriend's grasp (again).
• That being said, folks have tried to appeal to Azul through her countless of times. Either begging to Lyra to free them in his stead, or threatening Azul with telling Lyra how awful he truly is. Needless to say it never works and the person ends up with an even worse end of the deal.
• When they started dating Azul presented Lyra with a drafted contract (like the loser he is). Far from being offended or disgusted, she took it home, made a lawyer review it and added a few sections and clauses that worked in her favor before signing it.
• One of those clauses state that for every date Azul cancels in favor of a Monstro Lounge related event, Lyra has the right of a beach date with no Tweels and no work talk. Where they picnic and she tries to teach (torture) Azul how to surf.
• She is an Anthias mermaid.
• Lyra developed a love for fashion while on the surface, her constrictive clothes (like long sleeves, high necks or tight pants) caused her to develop a preference towards a beach casual look: shorts, crop tops, sandals, flowy skirts and dresses. Curiously, she almost always wears a two piece swimsuit under her clothes.
Characters: Jamil Viper & Tala'a Kheperet (oc) + plus many honorable mentions
It was Valentine's Day in Night Raven College and Kalim Al-Asim celebrated it the same way he did everything else– by throwing a party.
And not any sort of party, no, the most extravagant and luxurious party unlimited money could buy: a full parade with elephants and exotic animals included, musicians and dancers brought from the Scalding Sands to entertain, and a feast of varieties so wide that it would please a Sultan. And of course, the Scarabia Housewarden had invited every single one of his closest friends, even ones who didn't reside in the Isle of Mages.
And who was in charge of making this monstrosity of a party possible? Why, Jamil Viper of course.
Because of course he was.
The kitchens of Scarabia were a sweltering hell, even more than usual. Spices perfumed the air –cardamom, cinnamon, saffron– and the students selected to work in the kitchen hurried about under Jamil’s sharp gaze. He stood at the center of it all like the eye of a storm, dorm uniform perfectly in place, hair tied back, expression composed but eyes faintly shadowed with exhaustion.
“Careful with the pomegranate glaze,” He instructed coolly. “If it burns, we start over.”
A chorus of nervous “Yes, Vice-Housewarden!” echoed back.
He didn’t sigh.
He didn’t need to.
He simply adjusted the flame himself.
“You know,” came a voice from behind him, sophisticated but teasing, “if you keep frowning like that, someone might mistake you for the villain of the evening.”
Jamil didn’t turn immediately. He didn’t have to. He knew that voice the way one knew the first note of a familiar song. Leaning against the archway of the kitchen stood Tala'a Kheperet, one of Kalim's oldest friends and one of Jamil's latest distractions.
She was dressed quite plainly for a girl of her social status, wearing a dress that mimicked the color of shimmering golden sand, a dupatta draped over her head and shoulders and her favorite scarab earrings along with many other gold accessories.
However, as simplistic as the outfit was intended to be, the garments couldn't perfectly conceal their opulence and high quality. The hem of the dress was intricately embroidered with golden lace and jewels. And the dupatta was of transparent silk that shimmered and changed colors like a sunset, with beautiful embroidered depictions of scarab beetles in mid flight.
“Miss Tala’a, you're early to the party.” He said flatly, greeting her as he always did in mixed company, his gray eyes watching the way her jasper ones narrowed at the formal title. “If you’re here to sneak sweets before the banquet–”
“Oh Jamil, it offends me how long you think of me.” She pouted pitifully, not all at meaning it by the mischievous glint in her eyes.
And before Jamil knew what was happening, the gold heiress stepped past him and into the kitchen as if she owned the place, carefully removing her dupatta and slipping an apron over her (surely unbelievably expensive) dress.
Tala’a didn’t look particularly suited for kitchen labor in her party attire, but that had never stopped her before. She stepped beside him without asking, her numerous bangles and rings carefully removed and set aside, and her hands washed.
“What are you doing?” Jamil asked sternly, as if they hadn't done this same song and dance every time they stood in a kitchen together.
“Give me something to do.” She said simply, no– she demanded.
Like the spoiled little brat she was, Jamil thought.
“You’re a guest.” He said instead.
“And you’re overworked.”
A pause.
There was no way of convincing Tala'a of going back into the lounge with Kalim and Nāga –the girl's own retainer, whose job was merely a title with a paycheck considering how independent Tala'a was on her own. Jamil knew there was no arguing with a Kheperet. And honestly? He really was exhausted already, and another repair of trusted hands in the kitchen wouldn't hurt.
Vaguely, Jamil heard the scolding voices of his parents in the back of his head berating him for letting a girl of high social standing sully her hands like a servant, but the overwhelming thought of everything that was still on his to-do list silenced their screeching.
So he handed her a bowl of herbs and simply said, “Finely chopped.”
It was a single command, yet the girl smiled like she’d just won something.
They worked side by side in practiced silence at first. It wasn’t her first time helping in Scarabia’s kitchens, and it wouldn’t be the last if she continued to get her way. Tala'a moved carefully, efficiently– no wasted motion, no clumsy mistakes. A dexterity unexpected for someone who you'd think that, due to the money attached to their name, has never had to raise a finger in her life.
“You don’t have to do this,” Jamil muttered after a while.
“I know. I want to.”
The knife continued its steady rhythm against the board.
He didn’t respond, but the tightness in his shoulders eased by a fraction.
Tala’a leaned slightly closer, closer than what would be deemed appropriate back home, lowering her voice so only he could hear over the kitchen bustle. “You’ve orchestrated this entire spectacle flawlessly. Even Kalim couldn’t have imagined it better.”
“That’s because Kalim doesn’t imagine logistics.”
She laughed softly.
“I’m serious, Jamil. You’re extraordinary.”
The knife stilled for half a second.
Words of affirmation were dangerous things. Too direct, and he’d brush them off. Too excessive, and he’d suspect flattery.
But Tala’a never exaggerated.
“You don’t need to shoulder everything alone,” she added, gentler now. “You’re allowed to let someone support you.”
His gaze flicked to her, sharp, searching.
“And who exactly would that be?”
Tala'a met his eyes steadily, fearlessly looking into his greatest weapon and trusting him not to use it against her.
“Me.” She said it so simply, as if it was as obvious of a fact as saying the sky is blue.
It wasn’t a grand confession. It didn’t need to be.
Their relationship had long since slipped past the realm of secrecy. It wasn’t officially announced, but neither of them denied it when people noticed the way she gravitated toward him, or the way his voice softened –just slightly– when he addressed her.
Jamil looked away first, as if her gaze was the dangerous one.
“Finish the herbs,” he said, though his tone had lost its bite.
---
The party itself was everything Kalim had promised and more.
Lanterns bathed the courtyard in gold and rose light. Silks fluttered in the evening breeze. Music filled the air, rhythmic and intoxicating. Students from every dorm wandered through the celebration in awe. Couples danced and ate and laughed together, enjoying a perfect night.
You could see Ruggie sneakily tucking food away in Tupperware containers and Nāga effortlessly called everyone's attention to her on the dance floor so her boyfriend could grab a good fill for her too. Lyra Undertow could be seen chatting with some poor Pomefiore student, who was receiving the evil eye from one Azul Ashengrotto for calling his girlfriend's attention away. And sleeping as soundly as a housecat was Silver, resting on his girlfriend– Nerisse Silkwyrd while surrounded by cushions. To her credit, the dark haired girl didn't seem to mind, very much entertained with staring at her princely boyfriend as he slept.
And at the center of it all stood Jamil, posture impeccable, smile perfectly measured as he oversaw the chaos with invisible strings.
Tala’a watched him from across the impeccably decorated lounge.
He was performing again.
She excused herself from a group of students and crossed the space toward him just as he finished laying new trays of food on the banquet table, as soon as his fingers left the silver trays, Tala'a dragged him away from the crowd by his forearm despite his many protests until they exited the main lounge.
“Where are you taking me? I have to get back.” Jamil protested, yet he made no move to break free from her hold.
“You’ve been on your feet for hours.” She said quietly once they were alone near a column.
“I’m fine.”
“You’re lying.”
He shot her a look. Jamil hated that, he hated how easily she could see beyond his mask, how she looked past the image of the dutiful servant he had curated over the years as if it was nothing more than glass. He hated how vulnerable he felt under her eyes. But he also couldn't deny how special it made him feel to be looked at with such care and reverence by her sunstone eyes, as if he was a precious diamond in the rough.
She reached up without hesitation and pushed back the hood of his uniform to properly look at his face, letting her finger caress his cheek in a feather-like manner. A small thing. A careful thing.
“Five minutes,” Tala'a murmured, her eyes pleading as she looked up at him. “Come with me.”
“I don’t have–”
“Five. Minutes.”
Jamil hesitated. Then surprisingly, he followed, much to her delight.
The heiress led him away from the noise, her dupatta billowing behind her like Insect wings. They traveled through arched corridors draped in tapestries, until they reached the fountain outside of the main building, the music dulled to a distant hum. The night air was cooler here, scented faintly with jasmines and incense, and the star lit sky expanded above them as an endless canopy.
Jamil exhaled, almost unconsciously, suddenly feeling the all so familiar weight of his responsibilities loosening slightly its grip on his throat.
Tala’a stepped behind him, pushing him by the shoulders to a nearby bench.
“Sit.”
“You’re very commanding tonight.” Jamil teased, feeling in a more playful mood now that they were alone in the night.
“And you’re very stubborn.” Tala'a retorted, looking at him in a way that let him know she wasn't letting go any time soon.
Still, he sat on the bench and allowed her to stand behind him if only to see where this was going. Suddenly fingers found the way his shoulders –firm, practiced, much to his surprise. Not hesitant as they worked. She pressed carefully, kneading away tension he pretended not to carry.
Faintly Jamil wondered what the people back home would think if they saw them like this, the heiress of Silk City's most influential family giving a massage to a nobody servant boy like him. It made him smirk as he imagined their shocked faces, as they realized they pulled the rug from under them with their secret relationship. As they realized that the Kheperet’s most beloved and hidden away treasure belonged to him and him to her.
“You don’t have to impress anyone, Habibi,” Tala'a said softly, her delicate hands working thoroughly on his cramped muscles. “You already shine brighter than anyone.”
His breath hitched just barely at her words, his heart fluttering as how earnest her words were.
“Flattery won’t distract me from the fact that you took me away from my post, Habibti.” He murmured, pretending he wasn't melting like butter in the sun under her dexterous hands.
“Everything will be fine without you for a little while. The party is running perfectly.” Her thumbs traced slow circles at the base of his neck. “Because you planned it perfectly.”
Jamil closed his eyes.
That, more than anything, was proof of trust.
Tala’a leaned down slightly, her voice near his ear and her curly hair gently tickling his cheek. Her warm breath sent a delighted shiver down his spine as she spoke to him with pure devotion and adoration.
“You’re allowed to rest, Jamil. Even if it’s only for a moment. Even if it’s only with me.”
Silence settled between them.
Then, quieter than she’d ever heard him:
“…Thank you.”
Not a polite thank you.
Not the kind given out of habit.
A real one.
She smiled, unseen.
Acts of service were easy. Words came even easier. But with Jamil, it was never about grand gestures.
It was about noticing. About lightening the weight he carried without making him feel weak for bearing it.
When he finally stood again, the tension in his expression had softened.
“You’ll stay near me,” he said, almost casually.
Tala’a tilted her head, a teasing smile on her lips. “Is that an order, Vice-Housewarden?”
“…A request.” Jamil amended, suddenly feeling uncharacteristically shy. “If you'll have me, of course.”
Tala'a ‘s eyes softened, and her smile grew adoring.
