I'm so far up the ass of the specific amalgamation of genres I'm looking for music-wise (bluesy folk outlaw country that's gay and evil and satanic with a pinch of metal but there's nothing more modern than the telegraph mentioned so I can be immersed in cowboy times and also not written/recorded by a racist) I'm in its' fucking mouth. I have a notebook full of band/artist names. Now time to go through their discographies one by one and see which songs/albums/artists fit the bill

Younger writers. Please, just know that you could not skip to different songs on a cassette tape, that’s CDs. With tapes you pressed fast forward or rewind and prayed.

Also, VHS tapes did not have menu screens. Your only options were play, fast forward, rewind, pause, stop, or eject.

RIP, Blingee

According to a message posted on their front page, Blingee.com is going to be permanently “turned off” on August 25. This is sad news. A while back, Doug (aka Internet History) and I began collecting death Blingees––sparkling tributes to dead pets, relatives, celebs, etc––and then we started posting our collection at RIP Blingee. 

There are a LOT of sad memorial Blingees: people in caskets, beloved pet birds, garbage-covered gravesites, old family photos, lifeless fetuses in little animated Santa hats. There are stupid, funny ones, too–the Oxy Clean guy, the Twin Towers, this thing:

Anyway, Blingee is going away forever. If you feel like mourning with us, you can pay your respects at RIP Blingee. We’re going to post as many as we can before they’re gone for good.
