okay little rant, francis is by far the most misunderstood character on mitm, when first watching the show, most interpret him as just a rebellious teenage boy with no care, but when you really watch and analyze his character, all of his rebellion leads back to lois and hal, his childhood was full of lois losing control with him, and not to mention hal literally forgot him in a closet when first bringing him home he was a literal newborn, he was sent away to military school at 16 years old and forced independency and he had to care for himself at such a young age, his rebellion was very clearly him trying to get the attention from lois and hal, in the later seasons when dewey goes and visits francis, he is literally living in a dump, and he was completely happy with it, shows how his mindset was. not to mention how he was an alcoholic as a teenager, i think malcolm is probably the most like francis as a teen, you basically get to see francisβ teenage years through malcolm (not taking anything away from malcolms character, i think heβs wonderfully written.) things like malcolm getting drunk, having s3x, etc. in the later seasons i feel he definitely showed how francis was, also, francis cared extremely deeply for his brothers, sure, he was a jerk sometimes but when you really get deep into his character, you realize how misinterpreted he was. this is probably worded poorly so im sorry about that π£π£
also i lowkey think his βsongβ is βnotβ by big thief and no its not just cus i saw an edit of him to it, i genuinely think it connects to his character if you know what i mean and also βvampire empireβ by big thief goes really well with himπ«°πΌ
