Pietro’s Pinocchio references/office appreciation post
His office is so detailed and so beautiful and I love it and his character design is wonderful and he’s a sweet old man and I want him to be my dad ok just look at this cutie
Poor dude is even bald like Geppetto! At least he gets to wear a yellow hat instead of a yellow wig.
Anyway a lot of this stuff is pretty standard for his in-universe purpose. He double majored in medicine and robotic engineering and now his office is a mash of both. A shelf of files and medicine bottles next to a poster of what seems to be the mechanics of a robot arm next to x-rays of… possibly human body parts but most likely robot ones. I think those x-rays would be concerning on a human. Neato.
Over in the shelf we’ve got a cute little whale! Pinocchio and Geppetto get swallowed one of these in the 1940 Disney movie, but in the book it’s referred to as a “dogfish.” Geppetto actually spends two years living inside the sea monster, which sounds rough. Makes a cute office knickknack though.
A few cute things in this image: first, Pietro himself, super cute. Second: the “days since last nonsense” sign. My god I love it. Qrow showed up and they had to turn the timer back to zero. Either that or something happened that morning that caused the board to go back to zero and I’m so intrigued about what it was.
Third: this dude has a gumball machine on his desk! I was curious if this was just meant to show us how quirky Pietro is, but gum actually is mentioned in the book version of Pinocchio. Geppetto warns Pinocchio that there may be danger on the road to school, and soon after, Pinocchio meets Fox and Cat who cause him a lot of issues in the book. Before they meet him, they find a piece of chewed gum and Fox takes it as a sign of good fortune. Apparently Fox says that every time they find gum. If this was an intentional reference it’s pretty obscure but that’s all I can come up with.
So all in all this office is full of cute references and cute things but the most important one of all. The most crucial reference to his inspiration and his canon character. The cutest. The best.
