Rootbound is an indie animated fantasy pilot currently in pre-production. We're looking for passionate artists who want to help bring this story and world to life.

🎨 Currently Recruiting:

📖 Storyboard Artist

Create storyboards, shot layouts, and scene planning

Help shape the pacing, camera work, and storytelling

🏞️ Background / Environment Artist

Create environments, locations, and backgrounds

Help build the world and atmosphere of Rootbound

✨ Visual Development Artist (Optional)

Help develop the visual style, colors, props, and world design

Requirements:

• Portfolio required • Able to communicate through Discord • Comfortable receiving feedback • Interested in collaborating on an indie project

Software:

• Storyboard Artist — Storyboarder • Background / Visual Development — Krita or similar software

About Rootbound:

Rootbound is an anime-inspired dark fantasy story focused on mystery, emotional storytelling, and a world where magic is slowly fading.

This is currently an unpaid collaboration project. Team members will receive credit for their contributions, and future compensation plans will be discussed if the project generates revenue.

Rootbound is a dark fantasy animated series set in 1609, where nature is slowly reclaiming the world… and something ancient is beginning to wake beneath it 🌿

A quiet, emotional story follows two unlikely people moving through a world that feels alive in ways they don’t fully understand.

Rootbound Productions is looking for 4 artists to join the pre-production team for Groundwork, our indie hand drawn 2D animated series.

the concept: a tiny monster finds abandoned ruins in the wildlands and decides to build a settlement from scratch. no inheritance, no power, no mandate. just outcasts figuring it out together. warm, strange, lighthearted with real tension underneath. think Tensura meets Seven Deadly Sins.

we're looking for:

what we're offering: revenue share based on hours logged. transparent tracking from day one. 2-3 hours a week. beginners completely welcome — we care about passion not a perfect portfolio.
