So you know how Kit’s Fae heritage is very close to the surface? And is probably stronger than the shadowhunter heritage?
What if that screwed with Kit’s aging just a teensy bit and when he realized that when he’s as younger he freaked out and subconsciously cast a glamour on himself? Like, he’s not that much younger, he’s just aging a little more slowly that he should otherwise be? Only no one figures it out until he’s living with Tessa and Jem?
Then, add this to another idea that I had, found here. And that’s the first half of it, where Kit is probably around the developmental equivalent of 16, even if by calendar he’s 18.
The other part of it is that the faerie version of chicken pox can ONLY be caught if they are below whatever the faerie version of maturity is. So Kieran is thrilled to have family that isn’t, ya know, murderous towards him.
But considering that Kit is definitely still a child as far as he is concerned he kind of wants Kit with him, because he can feel that their magic is similar which means they’re related.
And he’s angry that no one bothered to warn them about Kit being part fae even if they didn’t mention the whole first heir thing, because messing around with illnesses is very bad, and what if something had happened and no one had know what was wrong.
But yeah that’s the idea, besides the fact that Kieran would be emphasizing that because Kit is still a child that he needs more teaching and who better than him.
And the fact that because Kit hasn’t *quite* hit his maturity he doesn’t think Kit should be dating just yet because reasons, it doesn’t have anything at all to do with the fact that he’s fond of Kit and wants him safe as can be.
Oh oh oh !! Ive read that fic by @/roseherondale !!
I totally adored it and jem was a protective dad which I loved !! Kieran is the cool uncle of Kit !! I loved their conversation on london rooftop and want more of it in twp 👉👈.
Anyway, keiran being protective towards Kit because he is the only blood family he has who is not trying to kill him is just *chef kiss*. they are the kind of uncle nephew duo in which Kit will teach Kieran incorrect memes and vines while Kieran is helping Kit learn his magic
Keiran amd jem adoption for kit fights 🙈
Anyway,in the post you linked @roseherondale said that they take inspiration from irondad and I- thats so similar to what kieran and kit can be 😭😭 !! Just loved the connection they made !!
Also, is kit gonna be immortal 👀, because If Kit had to see Ty die and live on with that pain for the rest of eternity then I- 😭😭
Kit and Kieran really are a great duo, and you bet your ass that Kieran would be reaming Jem and Tessa out over not even hinting that Kit has fae heritage, because of how sick he got.
🧐 I’m not sure if Kit is immortal, I think that he’s just very slow to age? Although if he was immortal he would totally find a way to share it with Ty!
I love this idea so much! I’ve never really thought of and explored the idea of Kit and Kieran but honestly, I think they’d have such a fun dynamic 💛 and the angst of them aging differently 🥺
@the-blackdale thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed the fic! 💛✨
Summary: Day 4 of KitTy Appreciation Week - Ty Blackthorn Supremacy. Ty and Livvy go looking for lizards in the desert. Set before The Dark Artifices.

It had all started because Ty had wanted to find lizards. Livvy had no interest in lizards but she did love her brother and so, she had accompanied him. With backpacks full of snacks, water and Ty’s identification guide, they had headed off into the desert. Ty had always been good with animals and so she had expected him to find one fairly easily and they would be back in time for lunch.
However, lunch had passed; they had paused under a rocky outcropping to eat a couple of granola bars and apples. Wavy lines of heat lay in the distance, the sun beating down upon them. Livvy was sweating, her hair sticking to her neck, her hat barely protecting her; it was so hot, it felt like the heat was leeching through the material into her scalp.
Ty was searching for a Baja California collared lizard. They were only found in California and Mexico but Ty had yet to see one; he had made it his current mission to do so.
“Shouldn’t we have found one by now?” She had asked, brushing another layer of sweat from her brow.
“Okay. Maybe we should look for another half an hour and then start heading back.” Livvy suggested, nonchalantly.
“I think we should see how it goes, maybe we’ll come across some more rocky areas; they like those.”
“Sure.” She sighed internally, wishing for a cold shower or to be sunbathing at the beach. Ty was the best person in her life, and they were so alike in so many ways, but she felt uneasy about being so far out into the desert.
Ty had gotten a little distance ahead and had stopped to investigate some more rocks. She walked faster to catch up with him.
“Did you find anything?”
He pointed at a spotted lizard with a dark tail, darting between the rocks. “It’s a desert grassland whiptail; I startled her. Did you know that they are all females and they reproduce by parthenogenesis, so they don’t need fertilisation from a male. But they still have courtship dances between females that enhance ovulation.”
“That’s really interesting.” Livvy smiled, suddenly very glad that she had agreed to come with him. “Now we just need to find the collared one.”
Ty took a few photos of the whiptail with his phone. “This is perfect; I can’t wait to put these in my notebook with the others!” For every topic that Ty was interested in, he bought a notebook. He would fill them with notes and observations, photos and quotes; anything that piqued his interest or reminded him of them. It was one of Livvy’s favourite things about her brother; that he was so excited about his interests. Once he moved onto a new interest, the notebook would find its way onto his shelf and would stay there, filled with all of Ty’s thoughts, lovingly notated.
“Let’s keep going, I don’t want to miss them.”
“Of course.” Livvy said, looking towards the sky. The sun was beginning to hang low, the rays still warm but less so than they had been at midday. “But we really should start heading back soon; if the sun goes down whilst we’re out here, we’ll freeze.”
Ty nodded. “You’re right.” He looked around and pointed to a pile of rocks in the distance, “that looks like a good place to find them.”
“Lead the way.”
They carried on through the desert, across the brush of yellowing plants and twigs so dry that they looked light they would catch fire if Livvy even thought about flames. At every pile of rocks, Ty stopped to examine them and they only moved one when he declared them free of lizards. On their way to the pile of rocks Ty had seen, they passed a few more lizards, common species that Ty had already photographed a lot at the edge of the desert, but that didn’t stop him from taking a few more.
Livvy smiled at the sight of every cactus they passed, just because it was green and not the same colour as everything else in the desert. She was getting hungry now, not having prepared for being out so long and she kept sending worried glances at the sun as it got ever lower in the sky.
At last, they reached the rocks; a large pile of orange stones that, Livvy had to admit, seemed like the perfect place for lizards to live.
“I’ll just search here and then we’ll go back,” Ty said, smiling at her. She nodded, sitting down to wait as she watched Ty climb onto them, peering into every crack, examining every nook and cranny. Pulling out her phone, she grimaced when she saw that there was no signal here. Of course there isn’t, Livvy. We’re in the middle of nowhere. Even so, she sent a quick text to Julian that they were still in the desert and would be back soon. Hopefully, there would be a spike in signal and he’d get it.
“Found anything?” She called over her shoulder.
“Not yet… I don’t understand, this is the perfect environment for them and it’s a good time of day, not too hot.”
“Maybe they heard us coming and hid.”
“Maybe.” He reappeared from around the stone, face downturned in disappointment.
“How about we get back and we can always come back out tomorrow, but a little better prepared.” She suggested, hating that he looked so sad.
“Really?”
“Sure.” She smiled, “anything beats lessons on demon languages.”
Ty sunk to the ground, putting his hands over his eyes. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have dragged you out here. I know you don’t care about lizards and you’ve probably been miserable all day. It’s just… I thought I could find them.”
“Hey, don’t worry about me. I had a great time because I was with you. Sure, deserts and lizards aren’t my thing, but they are yours and I’m really glad you let me share that with you.” She said gently, placing a hand on his arm.
As she did, a quick movement behind Ty startled her and she saw a lizard, black bands on its body, limbs yellowing towards the ends.
“Ty,” she whispered, “the lizard is behind you, be very careful not to scare it.”
Without looking, Ty asked, mimicking her whisper, “does it have a black collar?”
“Yes.”
Slowly, both of them holding their breaths, he turned and Livvy managed to catch the moment where his face split into a grin.
“Hello, little one.” He pulled out his phone and took a few photos as the lizard stared towards them, head raised, staring unblinkingly into the camera.
“I can’t believe it,” said Ty. “You actually found one!”
“Well, technically, you knew exactly where it would be and I guess it needed a moment of stillness to reveal itself to us. But it was you who found it, Ty.” She grinned.
After a little while, the lizard turned, clambering up the rocks and out of sight.
“That was amazing.” Ty said, the smile permanently etched onto his face.
“It was.” Livvy agreed, surprised that she actually meant it.
A cool breeze washed over them as they got to their feet and left the shelter of the rock. The sun had almost completely set now, long shadows trailing after the rocks, the orange light disappearing underneath the horizon.
“We need to get back,” Ty said and Livvy nodded, she looked around and was struck by panic.
“Wait, where are we? I can’t remember where we came from?” She said, shielding her eyes from the last rays of light. “It’s going to be dark soon and what then? We’ll be stuck here all night.”
Ty furrowed his brow for a moment, and then turned, pointing in a direction. “We came from that way.”
“How do you know?”
“We were walking towards the sun as it was setting so if we go that way, we should come out of the desert, hopefully somewhere near the Institute.”
“Are you sure?” She didn’t know why she asked; she trusted Ty and she knew that he was logical and reasonable. It was a perfectly good deduction, yet she was worried, unable to get swirling thoughts from her mind of not seeing her family again, of never watching Julian make pancakes or watching horror movies with Dru or reading bedtime stories to Tavvy.
“Of course.”
“Then lead the way.”
The trek through the desert felt a million miles longer on the way out. Livvy shivered, wrapping her arms around herself, even with the thin sweatshirt she had been wearing around her waist all day, she was cold. At night, the desert was freezing, made of buffeting winds dragging up dust and dirt from the ground, whistling between the rocks.
Ty led the way, illuminating a path with the torch from his phone. They had decided to use one at a time in case the batteries died and they were left without any means of light. His headphones were unusually silent, sitting around his neck as they were mostly when only she was around. Goosebumps were scattered across his arms but he never complained once, just set on getting them both home.
“Are those lights?” Livvy exclaimed, forgetting the cold and pointing towards them, grinning.
“We made it!” Ty said, hurrying forwards a little faster.
A beep from Livvy’s phone caught her attention. Pulling it out of her pocket she saw missed calls and worried texts from Julian, Emma and Diana. She clicked the call button and held it to her ear.
“Livvy, where are you?” Came Julian’s panicked voice.
“We’re okay, we can see the Institute now, we’re coming from the desert.”
“I’m on my way.” She heard the sound of running on the other side of the phone and Julian shouted for Emma and Diana.
When they emerged from the sandy wasteland, they saw the three figures rushing towards them.
“Jules!” Livvy shouted, and forgetting the light, she rushed forward into his arms. He scooped her up and held her to his chest.
“Are you okay? What happened?” She felt the fast heartbeat against her cheek and he pulled away to check Ty over and hold an arm out to him.
“We’re okay, Ty got us home.”

“We should start with the Centurions.” Kit said, peering down into the entrance hall and checking that the door to the library was still firmly closed.
“But they made the decision to leave Idris.” Dru reasoned, with a frown.
“Kit’s right, it’s the best place to start. They’re the only people with known connections to Zara, so they’re our best chance.” Ty checked the time on his phone and gestured that they start checking the bedrooms.
When Ty was studying at the Scholomance, Livvy had heard Zara talking to Manuel about a mole; someone who was passing information from Clave meetings onto the Cohort trapped in Idris. Ty didn’t understand how they were doing it or who was involved so he had asked Kit and Dru for help. Kit had then suggested that they take advantage of the Clave meeting in New York to investigate whilst everyone was in the same place.
Ty turned to Livvy. “Remember, let us know whenever anyone leaves the library.” She nodded and disappeared, and they continued towards the residential part of the Institute.
“Did you notice any of them acting strangely at the Scholomance?” Kit asked.
“No, but I mostly keep to myself.” Ty was looking at each door, counting them. “This one is Divya’s.” There was a shadow across his face, something akin to fear which Kit filed away for later. Divya Joshi had proved her loyalty to them; helping Diego and Kieran escape from the Scholomance and activating the Malachi Configuration, trapping the Cohort. If she had been the one passing information, Kit knew that it would be a major blow to everyone.
“Are you sure?” Ty nodded once and Kit immediately set to work picking the lock. Practiced as he was, it didn’t take long and the door swung open. Her room was neat, bed unslept in, clothes folded into drawers and a few books placed onto the shelf.
Ty immediately began searching through the room, meticulously, leaving everything as he had found it, as though no one had been in there at all.
“She’s clean, I think.” He said and there was a definite note of relief in his voice.
“That means Anush probably is too,” Dru smiled from the doorway.
“Who’s Anush?”
“Ty’s friend from the Scholomance.”
“Oh.”
“Rayan next.” Ty interjected, giving Kit no time to ponder the mysterious Anush and why Ty had never mentioned him. He pointed to the door opposite and Dru picked the lock this time. So much had happened since Kit had taught her, and he didn’t expect her to remember how to do it, let alone as flawlessly as she did, but after a few moments, he heard the click of the door and it opened with a slight creak.
With more enthusiasm this time, Ty searched the room of Rayan Maduabuchi, despite him being in the same situation as Divya in terms of his alliance to Livia’s Watch and the new Clave. His room was slightly messier; he hadn’t unpacked but his suitcase lay open on the bed and Ty rifled through it with fervour.
It was not the time to notice how beautiful Ty looked in the sun streaming through the window, but Kit admired him anyway. He had definitely grown up since they were fifteen, muscles rippling under his clothes, but Kit clung onto the parts that were the same; his dark hair in his face, the headphones around his neck, the steely gaze from his grey eyes. Too much had changed between them; it was nice to see that he was still Ty, even after everything had happened.
Frustratedly, he threw up his hands. “There’s nothing here.”
“We need to move on,” Dru said, glancing down the corridor. “We’ve spent too long searching in here.” She had changed too; she had grown into herself and now she exuded confidence with every movement.
“Who next?” Kit asked.
Ty checked his watch. “We don’t have much time; we should search Diego’s room.”
Kit stared. “You want to break into the Inquisitor’s bedroom?”
“No, I want you too.” Ty flashed him a perfect smile and Kit melted. He could never say no to him.
“You’re insane,” he murmured, but even so, he walked to the door and knelt down, opening it with the lockpicks.
The Inquisitor’s rooms were large. It opened up into a living area, two sofas and a coffee table, bookshelves and a large stained glass window. Across the room, there were two opened doors leading to a bathroom, and a bedroom, the bed visible.
“Search everywhere.” Ty instructed, immediately heading into the bedroom. Kit looked at Dru and she just shrugged, grinning as she flicked through the pile of mail on the coffee table. He headed to the bookshelf and began searching between them.
Diego had a lot of books, though none of them looked worn or well-loved like the volumes at the library in Cirenworth. It felt like a decoration more than anything else.
“Nothing incriminating in his mail.” Dru announced.
Kit picked each book up, shaking the pages of each of them until, finally, a loose piece of paper fell from them. It was just a series of numbers with no significance.
“Ty?” He called.
“Have you found something?” He asked, hands fluttering at his sides.
“I’m not sure.” Kit passed the paper over and watched the furrowed lines of Ty’s face as he read over it.
“These are coordinates, near Idris. Maybe it was where they were meeting at the border?”
“Really?” Dru asked, peering over his shoulder.
“What are you doing in here?” Came a voice from the door, their heads shooting up.
“Jaime!” Kit exclaimed, “we’re not doing anything.”
“Clearly.” He said, moving into the room. “What are you doing in my brother’s room?” He asked again, staring directly at Kit. From the corner of his eye, Kit noticed Ty’s eyes moving between the two of them.
“Someone’s been passing information-“
“Kit!” Ty interjected.
“I trust him,” he said to Ty, maintaining eye contact for a moment until he nodded. He turned back to Jaime. “Someone’s been passing information to the Cohort in Idris.”
“How?” He asked.
“We don’t know yet; we thought the better approach would be to find out who it is first.”
“And that’s why you’re in Diego’s room?”
“The only people who have connections to the Cohort here are the Centurions or ex-Centurions.” Kit shrugged.
Jaime’s mouth was set into a thin line as he nodded. “Have you found anything?”
“These coordinates,” Ty said, “they’re along the border of Idris.”
“How do you even know that?” Jaime asked, perplexed but Ty just shrugged. Kit knew that Livvy had studied the borders to Idris and Ty had done as much research as he could; it didn’t surprise him that he recognised the coordinates.
“Let’s keep looking.” Dru had been uncharacteristically quiet until then, a faint blush colouring her cheeks. Kit wondered, absentmindedly, whether she had a crush on Jaime. Been there, he thought, turning back to the bookshelves and continuing to check all the pages.
“Is there anything that Diego has and won’t leave home without?” Ty asked Jaime.
“Not that I know of… We haven’t really been that close in a long time.” He shrugged but Kit noticed the familiar tone of Jaime’s voice when he was disappointed. It had taken him a long time to figure that out; Jaime had always hidden his emotions behind a goofy smile and lots of laughter.
Are you okay? Kit mouthed at him and he nodded, lips quirking into a smile. If Ty or Dru noticed, they didn’t say anything.
“We just need something.” Ty said.
“We’ll find it, let’s just keep looking,” Kit soothed, still flicking between book pages. “I found it in one of these so make sure we check all the books.”
Ty went back into the bedroom and Kit could hear the shuffling of items as Ty searched through Diego’s belongings. Jaime took the spot next to Kit, trying to find loose pages or annotations in his books. Neither of them said anything, though the silence was uncomfortable given Ty and Dru’s presence.
“I thought you were in the Clave meeting.” Kit said, at last.
“I noticed you weren’t there.” Kit blushed and Jaime smiled, smugly. “They’re always boring anyway.”
“Believe it or not, I’ve never actually been to one. Jace has been on my case about it.”
“What? That now you’re eighteen he wants you to be interested in politics?”
“No, I think it’s more that he wants me to run the Institute when he and Clary step down.” Kit picked up another book.
“Oh. What do you think about that?”
“I don’t know… It’s an honour, really, that he would want me to but it feels like I’ve been a Shadowhunter for five minutes, there are plenty more candidates, and it’s not his choice anyway.” Kit shrugged his shoulders, placing down the book.
“Yes!” Ty said. Kit hurried to the doorway.
“What is it?”
“A letter from Zara. He had it folded in his clothes.”
“What does it say?” Jaime asked.
“A lot of incriminating things,” Ty scanned through the letter again, “she thanked him for the information, said that she was happy that he’s still on her side and, here, listen ‘if you want your secret to stay with me, then get me something good.’ She’s blackmailing him.”
“What if Diego’s just passing her information onto the Consul?” Jaime asked.
“It doesn’t sound like he is,” Dru chimed in.
A ghostly apparition appeared before them. Livvy, in a flowing white gown, her long hair moving around her shoulders with an invisible breeze, settled onto the bed. “The meeting is ending.” She announced, her voice twinkling like bells.
Ty spun around to the others, “the meeting is ending, we need to get out of here.”
“How do you know that?” Jaime asked, but this time, Kit offered no explanation; Livvy was not his secret to reveal.
Without any time to put everything back, they exited the room and rushed into Kit’s. Ty peered through the keyhole, watching for anyone walking past. Kit awkwardly sat on his bed beside Jaime, Dru taking the chair, and waited for Ty’s signal.
“He’s in his room, we need to get to Alec.” He said and they all jumped to their seats, hurrying in the direction of his office, near the library.
“Jaime, what are you doing?” Came Diego’s voice from behind them. Ty spun around, hiding the papers behind his back.
“We’re going to train.” Jaime replied, voice steady.
“Why weren’t you at the meeting?”
“You know me,” he joked, “politics are boring.”
Diego rolled his eyes. “We’ll talk about it later.”
“He means he doesn’t want to call me an embarrassment in good company,” Jaime translated.
“Stop being difficult, you know Clave meetings are important.”
“Sure, I’ll make the next one, but we need to train now.” He said, turning back around. Diego just rolled his eyes.
When they were out of earshot, Dru laughed, “I can’t believe we got away with that.”
“Me either,” Kit smiled.
“Let’s just get this to the Consul.” Ty said.
They passed a fair few people, lingering after the meeting, and spotted Alec in the crowd, talking to Jace and Clary.
“You get him, Kit.” Ty said, and Kit just shrugged, making his way through the crowds.
“We need to talk to you.” He said to the three of them and watched as their eyes slid to the doorway where the others waited.
“Is it something to do with why you weren’t here?” Jace asked.
“Yes.”
“Let’s go then,” Clary smiled. She ordered people out the way, expertly waving away people who wanted to talk to Alec and in no time at all, they were all in Alec’s office. He sat behind the desk.
“What’s going on?”
Ty stepped forwards, placing the papers on the desk. He explained that he had heard voices through the barrier, leaving Livvy’s involvement out, suggesting that there were a spy within the Clave, so they had investigated and found evidence that it was Diego; the Inquisitor.
Alec looked shocked. “You found this in Diego’s room?” Ty nodded. “By the angel… I can’t believe my trust in Diego was misplaced; I really thought he had changed when he helped us and saw how bad the Cohort were.”
Jaime seemed to deflate in his seat so Kit spoke up. “It sounds like she has some information on him that she’s threatening to spill if he doesn’t do what she wants. Maybe Diego can still be useful, you don’t have to send him to the Silent City.”
Ty and Dru glared at him and Alec shook his head, sadly. “He’ll have to go and be questioned by the Silent Brothers. I can’t let it get out that I’ve allowed a spy to stay; they already think I’m a joke.”
“Well, they’re all idiots.” Jace said, firmly. “I’ll go get Diego and you can talk to him.” When he got to the door, he turned back around. “Nice work, all of you, but you shouldn’t be in here when he arrives.”
“Maybe the greenhouse,” Clary suggested. “It tends to be quiet up there.”
They nodded, leaving the office and heading in the opposite direction to Jace, silently, until they had ascended the twisting metal staircase in the greenhouse.
“I don’t know whether we did the right thing.” Kit said, the haunted expression on Alec’s face spinning around his mind.
“It was better that he find out now than later.” Dru reasoned. “It’s not our fault; Diego made his own choices, none of us are responsible for that.”
“The voice of reason.” Jaime joked, though Kit could sense the worried undertones.
“Maybe he’ll cooperate and they’ll be lenient on him.”
“Kit, the punishment for something like this could be having his marks stripped. He wouldn’t be a Shadowhunter anymore; I wouldn’t be able to see him.” He sunk onto the bench. The sweet smell of flowers surrounded them, the glow from the sun outside warming.
Kit sunk into the seat beside him. “I’m sorry.”
“We agreed that this isn’t your fault.”
“Besides,” Ty said, “we solved a crime. We’re heroes; Sherlock and Watson back again.”
“And who am I?” Dru asked, haughtily.
“Our apprentice.” Ty smiled and Dru rolled her eyes.
“I don’t know, Ty. Watson wanted to help people but all we’re doing is ruining a man’s life and tearing an already broken family apart.”
“Thanks, Kit.” Jaime said, humourlessly.
“You know what I mean.” Jaime bumped his shoulder against Kit’s.
“I think I’m going to go and see whether I can hear what’s going on.” Jaime said.
“I’ll come with you,” Dru smiled.
“Thanks.” They waved as they left, a light chatter echoing back up the staircase.
“So…” Kit said, watching Ty as he stood by the plants. Jaime was handsome; typically so with his tanned skin and deep brown eyes, but Ty had always seemed delicate and fragile, with sharp features and an intelligence that radiated about him. Having him back, in front of him, made him forget all the moments he had spent without him.
“What’s going on between you and Jaime?” Ty asked, hands fiddling with the cord from his headphones.
“Nothing,” Kit said at once, and then, “we were seeing each other for a while, it was nothing serious.”
“Oh.” Kit couldn’t read his expression.
“Who is Anush?”
“My friend at the Scholomance. We kissed,” Ty admitted, looking away.
“That’s why you were so eager for an investigation.” Kit guessed.
“It’s just confusing.”
Kit smiled, “tell me about it.” Ty sat beside him, and they turned towards each other.
“Do you mind?”
“Of course not. You’re at the Scholomance for the foreseeable future and I’m trying out living here with Jace and Clary, where I might be able to make a difference.”
Ty smiled, “you will.”
“Thanks. I guess the timing for us is just wrong.” Kit said, a faint blush on his cheeks.
“Maybe one day it won’t be.” Ty’s eyes glinted.
“Maybe.”
Thank you so much for reading, I really hope you enjoyed it. I'm sorry for turning Diego into a villain but I think this might be one of my favourite fanfictions I've written in a while! x

some rando’s a/b/o fanfics have none of the level of influence that popular tv shows and movies spreading propaganda have
no one owes you a detailed description of their traumas and mental health problems
abusive relationships are not the same as enemies to lovers ships
y’all need to chill the fuck out over people, relationships, actions and events that don’t actually exist and learn how to enjoy and discuss them like normal people
If someone is producing fan-made content (fan fiction, fan art, AMVs) and it’s not your thing, make the choice to ignore it and move along. It wasn’t made for you.
You are NOT obligated to consume content featuring shows, ships and tropes you hate or are bothered by. That content wasn’t made for you.
You are NOT obligated to harass and demean content creators by posting reviews declaring how much their work sucks. If it wasn’t made for you, genuinely no one cares about your negative impression of that fan-made work.
Fan content creators spend hours of their time and oodles of creative energy creating FREE content to express their love of a show/film/ship. Fandom a beautiful thing. Don’t ruin it by being a jerk.

Kit turned over the pin in his hand, tracing his fingers over the stripes; black, grey, white, purple. It had been a long time since he had accepted himself and his identity but he had never had a family that he felt comfortable coming out to; not until he met Jem and Tessa. They had taken him in when he had no one else and had quickly become his parents in everything but title.
His father had kept him safe but he had never been the nurturing parent type. He had trained Kit to be a pickpocket and to gather information, using him more as a tool than a son. Kit had figured out his sexuality when his dad was still around but had never told him, scared that he would turn him away. Now, he could appreciate what his father had done and what he had given up for Kit, but at the time, all he had wanted was a dad, and still, he carried that disappointment with him like a curse.
After everything with Ty, Kit had become lost within himself. He had always known that no one would want him but having the confirmation from Ty had brought all of those insecurities back to the surface. Now, every waking moment was tainted by the thoughts that he wasn’t enough for anyone, that no one would want him, that he was going to be alone forever. The distance from Ty had helped; at least he didn’t have to see him everyday and be reminded that he wasn’t enough for him whilst forcing himself to act normally.
Tessa called his name from downstairs and he started, placing the pin under the papers in his bedside drawer before heading to dinner. Both her and Jem smiled at him when he entered and drew him into their conversations, making an effort to keep him involved, but nevertheless, he was quiet and withdrawn. They shared a few looks over him and he pretended not to notice as he pushed his food around with his fork.
After they were finished, Kit washed the dishes as he always did. He was trying to act normally, even if he knew that Jem and Tessa were not fooled. They kept up a steady stream of light chatter as they dried and put away the plates and Kit tried to smile in the right places. Nerves were eating himself from the inside; he knew he wanted to tell them. He trusted them with his life and he wanted them to know everything about him; they had already proved, time and time again, that they wouldn’t be scared off and they would stay for him. This wasn’t a test, this was hope. Hope that they would be the perfect family he had always imagined and craved. However, just the idea that he would tear their entire dynamic apart kept him in an anxious bubble.
“How about I make us some hot chocolates and we watch a movie, one of those that you wanted me to watch, Kit.” Jem suggested.
“That’s a good idea, which one do you think, Kit?” Tessa smiled.
“I mean The Winter Soldier is the next Marvel movie we need to see.”
“The Winter Soldier it is then.” Jem beamed, “why don’t you go and get it loaded up on the television and I’ll get the drinks.”
“Sure.” Kit headed into the living room, planning out his options. He could blurt it out and tell them before the movie and then they would have two hours to ignore him and process it. It would minimise the chance they would say something wrong; after all, they were both from different time periods to him. Or he could wait until after the movie, keeping it bottled up inside where it would eat away at him and he wouldn’t be able to concentrate on the story. That option would allow him to spend some normal time with his parents before everything changed.
He flopped onto the sofa, picking up the TV remote in shaking hands and flicking through to the film. When his parents entered he didn’t hear them, so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he had blocked out the world. He started as Tessa gently sat beside him.
“Okay, I’ve parented enough Herondales to know when there’s something wrong, so out with it. What’s going on, sweetheart?” She said, her voice softening at the end.
Kit was silent for a few seconds. His brain was screaming the words, loud enough that they should have been able to hear but he couldn’t force his mouth open, he couldn’t make the sounds out loud. All of a sudden, he blurted, “I need to tell you something.”
They both faced him, straightening up, seriously. Their faces were a display of concern; furrowed eyebrows, eyes slightly widened, waiting expectantly. Kit forced himself to take a deep breath; there was no going back now. He owed it to himself to live honestly and he was safe to do so. Sure, he didn’t want anything to change, and the logical part of his brain told him that it wouldn’t, but it was still a big deal to tell the most important people in your life something about you that no one else knew.
“I’m biromantic asexual. It means that I’m romantically but not sexually attracted to men and women.” He looked down at his lap, heart thumping in his chest, hands shaking. The next few seconds felt like weeks; stretched out and silent.
“We love you.” Kit glanced up at the sound of Jem’s voice. “Please don’t think that you could be or do anything that would stop that.”
“Thank you, darling, for sharing this part of your life with us.” Tessa smiled, taking his hand. The shaking stopped and his heart rate slowed down.
“You’re okay with it?”
“What’s not to be okay with? We want you to be happy and we know that whoever you end up with will be perfect, no matter their gender.” Jem said.
For a moment, Kit just stared, tears pooling in the corners of his eyes. “But I’m not enough for anyone. Who would want someone like me when I’m not attracted to them and I don’t want to do that with them?”
“Kit, anyone would be lucky to have you. You are enough.” Tessa pulled him into his arms and he felt the sofa cushions indent as Jem sat in the remaining seat, pulling both Kit and his wife into a hug as well.
Every fear that Kit had been holding onto poured out of him in waves of hopelessness. He never mentioned Ty but he had a sneaking suspicion that they already knew about him. They didn’t question him or invalidate him; they just held him tighter, gently stroking his hair and whispered to him, kind affirmations that he was enough and loved and safe.
He was glad he had told them. Sometimes, it got so hard to bottle things up, thinking about but never voicing them, allowing thoughts to tangle in his mind like unravelled wool, but with Jem and Tessa he knew he could be himself. He had never had somewhere he could feel safe and unwaveringly loved before. For a while, he had hoped that the LA Institute and the Blackthorns would be that for him. But now, he knew what he was really missing, what he had gone so many years without; a home.
Thank you so much for reading. I headcanon Kit as asexual and have wanted to write something like this for the longest time; I really hope you enjoyed it.
Happy Pride Month x

Small bright lights lit up the beach, like fireflies, casting a warm glow across the sand. The sun rested low on the horizon, reflecting on the water, mirroring the haze of orange in the sky. Kit shivered as the warmth began to fade, pulling on the golden jacket over his shirt and followed the others back towards the Institute. He fell into step beside Livvy and Ty, soft chatter and laughs surrounding them. Ahead, Emma and Julian walked, his arm and suit jacket around her shoulders, her golden dress trailing against the sand.
It was much warmer in the Institute, the colourful reflections from the stained glass windows covering the tiled floor in rainbows. Flower garlands hung from the bannisters, tables at the side holding beverages and speakers. Music spilled from them, and couples began to pair off and dance.
Julian led Emma to the centre of the floor, twirling her around, golden hair flowing, her mouth open in a laugh, the corners of her eyes crinkled. It was the happiest Kit had seen her since he met her over a year ago when his father was killed by demons and he was forced, head first, into the Shadow World. Emma had made his transition a lot easier, teaching him how to fight and protect himself, but the best thing about meeting the Blackthorns was easily Ty and Livvy. They had quickly become the closest friends he could ever have hoped for.
He turned to them. Ty had shed his own jacket, though his shirt was still buttoned, and his headphones rested around his neck. Knowing Ty as he did, Kit expected him to place them over his ears soon, blocking out the noise from the stereos. He looked as flawless as he always did and all day, Kit had barely been able to take his eyes off him. Recently, he had been finding himself doing that a lot; as though he was a moth drawn to the flame that was Ty.
Livvy looked stunning, her brown hair tied back into a bun, two curled tendrils framing her face. She was wearing a beautiful knee-length golden dress and heels that Julian had definitely not approved of. In them, she was only slightly shorter than him. Grinning at her, he held out his hand.
“Care to dance?”
“I thought you’d never ask,” she joked, taking it and letting him lead her onto the dance floor. She rested her hands behind his head and his were on her waist.
When they had first met, Kit thought he had a crush on her; she was beautiful, smart and fierce. They had kissed and it was fine, but it was nothing like in the stories, no fireworks or sparks. Later, after many hours in the training room together, they both agreed that they were better off as friends and then this led to their current situation; future parabatai.
“Did you see Cam today? Didn’t he look so handsome?” Kit had seen Cam; he was handsome, despite the clash of his red hair and the gold suit, but he couldn’t compare to Ty.
“Yeah,” Kit said, amusedly. “You just need to wait another two years.”
“Well, you know how patient I am.” They spun around, a content smile on her face.
“Only a month left.” He remarked. It seemed strange that their parabatai ceremony was so close after waiting so long already.
Kit had asked her once he had learnt a few things about Shadowhunters and had found a training partner in Livvy. At first he was wary to, aware that she wanted to be parabatai with Ty but once she had accepted that he wanted to be a Centurion, he had asked. He had tried to make a gesture out of it, planning a picnic on the beach, though his plans were disrupted by a nest of demons that they had to deal with. In the end, he blurted out the question when they were both covered in ichor, dead demons around them. Livvy had laughed and then cried, throwing her arms around him and for the first time, Kit knew that it was right for all of them.
“Julian keeps asking me whether I’m sure I don’t have romantic feelings for you. To think he almost made that same mistake with Emma.”
“At least we won’t.” He said, reassuringly, swaying to the music.
“Yeah, you’re not my type.” There was a mischievous glint in her eyes.
“No, the mysterious Cameron is.” He said, seriously, and she nodded.
“And I happen to know a certain person who’s your type. You might know him; he never stops looking at you and he always wears headphones.”
Kit felt his cheeks heat up. “Don’t be ridiculous; he doesn’t like me like that.”
“Sure.” Her eyebrows raised, and she watched as his eyes flitted around the crowd, finding Ty as he always did. Livvy dropped her hands from around his neck. “Just go and dance with him.” Livvy ordered, giving him a little push in Ty’s direction. Kit turned back to her, but she was already slipping through the crowd towards Dru and Tavvy. Shaking his head, he turned back to where they had left Ty. He sat on the staircase, headphones over his ears, watching the crowds. Kit dropped down beside him.
“Do you want to go somewhere quieter?” Kit asked, turning towards Ty so that he could read his lips over the noise. He nodded.
Getting to their feet, they ascended the staircase, climbing up to the roof. Music and laughter spilled from the open doors of the Institute, floating in echoes to where they were. Stars lit up the sky like paint on a canvas. Kit would never get used to the sight from up there; rolling skies over the desert in one direction, waves lapping on the shore in the other. From the roof of the Institute, he could see everything; it was freeing.
Ty had placed his headphones around his neck again, but the soft sounds of violins leaked from them in beautiful symphonies.
“Do you want to dance?” Ty asked, suddenly. Feeling his cheeks heat up, Kit nodded, words caught in his throat. He smiled, shyly, cursing the way that he turned into an incoherent mess whenever Ty was around.
Kit took Ty’s outstretched hand in his, praying to the angels that it wasn’t clammy, and placed his other around Ty’s back. He looked up, diffidently, meeting Ty’s grey eyes, feeling all his nervousness ebb away. It was him and Ty; there was nothing to be anxious about.
They began to sway, in time to the concerto from Ty’s headphones, in silence for a while.
“Will you stay here in LA when I go to the Scholomance?” Ty asked.
“Probably. I mean, I’d like to visit Jem and Tessa in Devon and Jace in New York, but LA will always be home. Livvy’s hoping we get somewhere European for our travel year though; Paris would be nice.”
“And it’s closer to Romania.”
“And that,” Kit laughed.
“I’m glad you and Livvy are going to be parabatai.”
“You are?”
“Yeah.” The hand at Kit’s waist fluttered. “I know how much she wanted one and I know how close you both are. I’m sorry that I couldn’t do that for her, but I’m glad you can.”
Kit smiled, his heart missing a beat, and in a leap of faith said, “I’m glad I get to stay with both of you.”
Ty’s eyes widened for a second and then he beamed. “I really like you, Kit.”
“I really like you too.” Kit rested his head against Ty’s chest, closing his eyes. He felt Ty take a sharp intake of breath, his heart fast in his chest, and then his head rested on Kit’s. They continued swaying in the cool breeze, under the blanket of stars, dancing the night away in their own piece of serenity.
Thank you so much for reading; I hope you enjoyed it! I know a lot of you probably won't like Kit and Livvy being parabatai but when I read 'Lord of Shadows' the first time, I loved their dynamic and thought that they'd work really well together.
I'm really excited about KitTy Appreciation Week, so I'll see you tomorrow for the second prompt x

Golden rays hit the mountain in perfect arcs that covered Arx Volatus in a beautiful haze of radiant light. Below, was a pool of crystal clear water, sparkling and rippling where a waterfall trickled into it, sending delicate spirals across the surface. Across the horizon, the sun was perched low in the sky, casting a warm orange glow across fields and trees.
Beside the water, hidden behind the waterfall, was Icarus, eyes closed against the bright light, one hand on his necklace, the other resting on his lap. A light breeze ruffled the dark curls around his face, and he smiled, relaxed, as he brushed one back behind his fin-like ear. Across his face, the patterns of flowing water mixed together in a dance of shadow and light, constantly changing and flickering. The fluttering darkness made the scene on his arm, of storm clouds and lightning, seem real, as though the waves were actually turbulent.
A slight distance away, cast in the same incandescent light as the scenery below, was Mayes, the sun symbol of Pelor enclosed in one hand. Their brown hair was tied back in its usual bun, the sun illuminating the different shades. Unlike Icarus, they were sat completely within a patch of sunlight, hunched over and sketching, thin strands of hair falling into their face. The light scratch of pencils and rustle of paper accompanied the gentle rush of the water.
After a while, the sound of footsteps joined in, steadily getting louder until Pandora appeared in the small sanctuary. She was an ethereal vision, resembling a sunset herself with orange skin, hair the colour of fire and her golden freckles illuminated like stars. Her horns dripped with golden jewellery and on her collarbones were the dark inked markings of laurel leaves, a symbol of peace since destroyed.
When she reaches the base of the steps, she hesitated for a moment, watching her friends and taking in the atmosphere, feeling calmer and more at home than she had since they had arrived in Arx Volatus, on the backs of griffons, escaping Erran.
“Hey, Pandora,” Icarus said, without opening his eyes or moving at all.
“Hello. Can I sit?” She asked, wringing her hands in front of her, nervously.
Icarus opened his eyes and gestured that she sit down with one hand. Mayes turned around so that they were facing her, silhouetted by the sun and the warmth on their back was as though Pelor was laying a comforting hand on their shoulder. Carefully, Pandora sat, facing both of them, arranging her dress around her.
Since arriving a couple of months ago, she had withdrawn herself from her friends, focusing on studying magic and trying to forget everything that had happened in Erran. The further she pushed herself away, the more she felt herself slipping, the cliff rapidly approaching, and the less she felt she could stop.
In a moment of pure helplessness, she had found herself walking down to where she knew Icarus and Mayes would be, where they always were when they weren’t working. She craved the comfort and company of her friends, the unbridled joy and optimism they brought, and she so desperately needed but continued to meet with bitter scepticism.
“Everything okay?” Mayes asked, a slight line appearing on their forehead as they frowned.
“We’re here for you if you need to talk.” Icarus said, after a moment of hesitation, holding out his hand. She took it and reached out her own for Mayes’.
“I know I’ve been… different, and you didn’t ask for this version of me as a friend. But thank you for looking out for me and being patient. We all lost a lot when we left Erran, but I never came to see if you were okay or needed anything; I just closed myself off.” She felt tears in her eyes and her voice came out as strangled. “I’m sorry, but I want to be better, to do better, to be a better friend to you both.”
“Don’t say that,” Mayes whispered. “You’re a good friend, Pandora; we love you. We know it’s been hard, and we didn’t want to pressure you.”
A couple of tears escaped, trickling down Pandora’s cheek, across golden freckles. “I’m sorry, I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I don’t know why I pushed myself away; why I didn’t come to you both sooner.”
“You’re here now. And we’ll always be here for each other, even if you don’t want us to be.” Icarus smiled weakly, squeezing her hand.
“You can talk to us whenever you’re ready to, Dora.” Mayes said.
She took a deep breath, and when she spoke, it was with a raw vulnerability; the product of allowing all of her thoughts to fester within her for weeks. “I don’t know what to do anymore. Every time I close my eyes, I see Perseph… her face in my mind as she chose that,” she spat the last word, venomously, “over her family; over me.”
She took a deep breath. “I play it over and over in my head, thinking of anything I could have done differently. I go back to when we were kids and then, to before I went to Delphos. What did I do? What did I do so wrong that she chose to do this? Why would she abandon her family like this? Why would she abandon me?” Weeks of pushing down her emotions and channelling them into anger caught up with her, and she pulled her hands from Icarus and Mayes’, burying her face in them as she began to sob.
Icarus and Mayes glanced at each other, alarmed, before immediately moving closer and putting their arms around her.
“It’s not your fault.” Mayes whispered into her hair, repeating it over and over as she cried. The sun seemed to blaze brighter behind them, embracing them all in a swirl of gold.
“You’re safe, Dora. You don’t have to go through anything alone.” Icarus said, when her tears slowed, and she sniffed.
The quiet warmth was intoxicating. She opened her eyes, looking out over her friends’ shoulders, watching the glint of light in the water. Heavier footsteps sounded on the stairs behind them.
“I thought I’d find you down here,” Damen said, softly.
“Hey, Dames.” Icarus responded, voice muffled from where his face was pressed against Pandora’s hair. The tall, red hobgoblin looked down to where his friends were huddled on the floor, his eyes, one green and one gold, filled with fondness and sorrow for everything that had happened to them. They reminded him of his son, Panos, and he was grateful that if he couldn’t be with him at all, he could still be with his makeshift family.
Mayes raised their head, smiling sadly. “Come join us.”
Damen knelt down between Icarus and Pandora, putting his arms around them.
“It’ll be okay, firefly. We’re here. No matter what has happened and what will happen, we’re not going anywhere.” He pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head.
“We’ll always be together,” Icarus smiled, weakly. “We can face anything; even this.” Damen’s mouth curved into a smile and he raised one hand to ruffle Icarus’ hair.
“Always.” Mayes said, firmly.
In that moment, there were a million things Pandora wanted to say, but instead, she clung onto her family, holding onto them, tightly, as though they were her lifeline. In a way they were. They were her last tether to the world, the only things keeping her afloat in the stormy sea that encompassed her. They were her remaining link to her life in Erran. Together, they had been through so much, and finally, for the first time in weeks, under the golden rays of the setting sun, she felt like she was home.
