        nose crinkles at  @delicatlueur  words,  but  ---  well,  she doesn't hate it.  she pulls her hair into a bun,  tosses the other a pair of gloves.   "if you can get me on my back -"  her lilting accent says cooly,  offers a grin,  doesn't mind being flirted with and getting some sparring in ?   who in their right mind say no ?   "i'll certainly give you the opportunity to go for a session, how does that sound?"

there  were  many  approaches  to  answering  the  question  and  when  hiro  went  to  open  his  mouth  and  speak,  he  closed  it  just  as  quick.  perhaps  his  silence,  in  itself,  was  becoming  a  bit  too  loud.  ❝  punching  would  entail  the  risk  of  getting  injured  so…❞  his  sentence  trails  off  and  hiro  can  only  blink  before  adding,  ❝  will  there  be  judgment  if  hypothetically  i  were  to  say  i  hypothetically  never  learned  to  punch.  make  a  punch.  throw  a  punch  ??  both  or  all  ??  ❞

          "on the contrary -"  citlalli will inform  @impvrities  ,  "not knowing how to punch properly will only injure you more. and what if you ever need to throw one in self defense?"   and maybe she should relax more,  really;  she's got dahlia for a bodyguard,  doesn't she ?  and dahlia was damn good at their job.   "no judgement,"  and she tosses him a pair of boxing cloves.   "here, i'll teach you. just wanna see your strength level first."

               tristan  did  need  the  distraction  . . .  maybe  it  was  easier  having  a  fake  girlfriend  rather  than  a  real  one  ?  have  something  that  𝐃𝐈𝐃𝐍'𝐓  actually  mean  anything  over  something  that  had  much  more  affect  on  his  feelings  . . .  his  thoughts  . . .           (      his  heart  .     )          something  he  seemed  to  𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒  be  running  away  from  .  that  being  said  ,  it  wasn't  like  he  didn't  care  about  juliette  ,  of  course  he  did  .  he  wouldn't  be  doing  this  for  anyone  else  .  if  anything  ,  he'd  probably  find  the  whole  thing  to  be  a  waste  of  time  if  it  was  anyone  else  .  but  given  the  circumstances  that  juliette  was  facing  with  her  ex  ,  tristan  was  game  .  it  helped  that  he  was  an  𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐔𝐋𝐒𝐈𝐕𝐄  person  and  it  helped  that  his  life  was  spiraling  just  enough  for  him  to  fling  himself  into  something  𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐓  really  thinking  it  through  completely  .  or  stay  in  it  when  he  had  thought  it  through  because  it  seemed  a  lot  easier  .  sure  ,  the  main  reason  for  what  he  was  doing  ,  his  main  thought  process  ,  it  was  to  help  juliette  get  out  of  the  situation  she  was  in  with  her  ex  .  he  was  being  a  good  friend  because  at  the  end  of  the  day  ,  they  were  friends  and  he  cared  about  the  girl  .  but  there  was  also  a  part  of  him  that  saw  it  as  an  out  for  situations  for  himself  . . .  if  someone  was  getting  too  close  . . .  claiming  to  have  a  girlfriend  to  push  them  away  . . .  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐅𝐄𝐂𝐓  𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓  . . .          (      he  really  could  be  a  shitty  person  sometimes  . . .     )          if  not  all  the  time  .

   ⏤          wrapping  his  arm  around  her  as  they  walked  outside  ,  tristan  was  comfortable  with  juliette  .  it  really  was  a  𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐊  doing  this  whole  fake  relationship  thing  with  someone  that  you  were  friends  with  .  at  least  they  didn't  hate  each  other  or  want  to  combust  every  time  they  had  to  touch  .           ❛      hey  now  ,  shut  up   ,  you're  not  killing  the  mood  .     ❜          telling  anyone  to  shut  up  ,  wasn't  the  move  but  he  knew  she  would  know  he  was  just  giving  her  a  hard  time  .  he  didn't  actually  mean  it  .  what  he  did  mean  though  was  the  fact  that  he  didn't  find  her  𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆  .  he  knew  her  ,  he  knew  it  wasn't  her  scene  .          ❛      we  really  are  one  of  those  opposites  attract  couples  tropes  ,  aren't  we  ?  how  cute  .     ❜           he  teased  ,  swaying  into  her  a  little  as  they  walked  ,  his  arm  draped  around  her  shoulder  .  tilting  his  head  to  the  side  when  she  turned  the  attention  on  him  ,  tristan  scrunched  his  nose  a  little  before  looking  forward  again  .  it  was  something  they  had  in  common  ,  not  wanting  to  focus  on  themselves  .  but  maybe  if  he  opened  up  a  𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄  ,  she  could  too  ?  a  little  give  and  receive  was  good  for  any  fake  relationship  . . .  or  more  so  ,  it  was  good  for  any  𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏  .          ❛     you  really  think  i  have  anything  more  interesting  to  talk  about  than  lawyers  and  crazy  flower  customers  ?  i  bet  those  plant  lover  people  will  throw  down  for  a  good  orchid  .     ❜         joking  around  yet  again  ,  it  almost  seemed  as  though  tristan  didn't  know  how  to  speak  without  joking  about  one  thing  or  another  .  never  wanting  to  get  too  deep  or  dark  with  things  .  knowing  if  he  did  ,  it'd  be  opening  the  floodgates  and  he  didn't  know  if  he'd  be  able  to  close  them  back  up  .  what  sounded  almost  like  a  sigh  fell  from  the  brunettes  lips  as  he  glanced  at  juliette  again  .         ❛      honestly  ?  i  guess  i  just  needed  a  distraction  .  try  to  forget  that  i  just  keep  fucking  shit  up  any  chance  i  get  .      ❜           although  he  meant  every  word  he  was  saying  ,  he  still  let  out  a  laugh  at  his  own  words  .

         she knows a sad person when she sees one,  with this hidden damage so deep,  one can only see it when they're looking.  tristan and juliette may act out in different ways,  but it takes one to know one  -  and she knows he sees her too.  maybe  that's  why she trusted him enough with this;  because she knows him to the point she'd  never let anything happen  between the two of them.  juliette's been burned before,  tristan's gasoline,  and she likes to think she's much smarter than that.  he looks like trouble,  and  good luck  to the actress with a name from the same tragedy juliette's derives from,  because juliette wouldn't be able to ever truly handle  @trismp4  in a romantic sense.  it's a good thing they're friends,  she thinks;  she just prefers it stays that way. 

       sigh will leave her lips,  leans into him a bit;  physical comfort was something  everyone  needed,  right ?  her mother needed hers,  and being close to tristan cooled her down,  made her stop herself from going down a hole of  what was next  in the world of the fairchilds.   "oh no, i'm definitely killing the mood. but maybe that's good for you, "   juliette teases him with a scrunch of her nose,  reaching up to mess up his curls affectionately,  before tucking herself into his side with a nod.   "the most obnoxious couple. if i was back in high school hallways watching us, i'd be making fun of us. how do our friends deal with us?"   and it's probably because teh two of them aren't around each other's friends much at all.  sure,  a lot of time is spent together;  but juliette is still an introvert,  and she's good at being polite,  but not so great at forming connections with others until months have passed.  until trust is grown and deserved,  she's not so loose lipped she'd open to anyone up just like that.  a snort comes from her lips,  a little lighter under the sparkling lights of the city,  juliette shakes her head.  "dude, you don't want to know. i had to work a few weddings and i thought the brides to me were going to murder me."

       but she loved it,  didn't she ?  to see the joy her flowers brought,  the beauty it creates for the entire event,  and  she  did that.   "what happened in your side of the world now?"  she asks him curiously,  glancing up at him,  tugging him to go towards the direction of central park,  the closest thing they're going to get to that  hike  they were texting about.

        having  turned  his  nose  up  at  many events, he wasn't one to judge. especially not when it was warranted. steps paused at the mention of another way to some alcohol in his hands. he turned back toward her with a grin.   ❝ anything that'll get my drunk and doesn't taste cheap. ❞   which was a risk here given the state of this party.   ❝ if you have that at your shop then that works. otherwise, a liquor store will have better choices than here. ❞

        and,  well,  she is her father's daughter,  right ?  and while he wasn't her favorite person in the world,  he treated her right,  and there is no way a girl wasn't going to get traits from the people who raised her.   "so, that mean you don't care if it's dark or light? i've got this covered, we don't need to take a pitstop. have you ever had ginjinha?"  she asks,  twisting the key into her shop,  asking alexa on the softer lamps,  leading @stereotypcs to the client couch.   "wait here. i'll be sure to get some whiskey too, just in case."

there  were  reasons  that  some  things  were  left  in  the  past  but  aless'  reasons  for  behaving  certain  ways  were  often  far  less  complicated  than  others  thought  .  he  was  there  in  the  moment  then  away  ,  no  consideration  for  damage  left  behind  .  it  was  only  entertaining  to  him  that  she  was  pretending  to  be  josie  ,  an  opportunity  for  him  to  stir  up  the  past  at  the  best  possioble  time  .  stepping  slightly  closer  but  not  being  invasive  when  he  lowers  his  voice  ,  an  almost  sombre  expression  that  is  rare  on  him  .  "  that's  very  hurtful  …  perhaps  i  am  trying  to  make  right  by  proving  myself  to  you  ?  "  puppy  dog  eyes  as  he  blinks  ,  long  eye  lashes  and  the  tinge  of  a  smile  on  his  lips  as  he  looks  at  her  …  looks  at  her  in  a  way  that  is  clear  he  truly  knows  who  she  is  although  he  doesn't  say  it  ,  a  smugness  visible  even  in  the  clenching  acting  he  is  doing  .  at  the  mention  of  mimi  ,  he  tilts  his  head  ,  "  lower  your  dignity  ?  i  didn't  know  you  took  your  sisters  relationships  so  personally  ,  josie  .  such  a  good  sister  …  "  glimmering  grin  .

          does jia consider herself a different woman from who she was when she had her little thing ?  sure,  her changes were bound to happen,  as all effects do to a cause.  and the block ?  a hard pill to swallow,  certainly;  but a simple block back was healing.  and with her time spent in seoul,  madrid,  and new york  -  she found herself too busy for anything serious  ( and yet ... she still notices  @alsoaless  whenever he's in the same room as her,  like her gaze can't help but follow him when in the same space ).    "then i'm not the right sister to grovel to,"   lies are gritted out through clenched teeth,  all the fun one night stands during her travels only impulsive blurs in the back of her mind as she doesn't back down  ( refuses to back down when it comes to him ),  one wrong sentence away from a sneer.  when did he know how to get under her skin so easily ?  if she stiffens,  jia knows aless will notice,  and though she fights that  -  she knows he'll notice her jaw twitch in annoyance,  knowing his words rang true.  it's not like she hid the mole under her eye,  either.   "whatever. what are you doing here?"

               her   response   earned   a   blank   stare   from   him.   silence   falling   over   them   as   he   looked   to   the   left,   then   the   right,   waiting   for   jia   to   elaborate.   when   it   was   clear   she   wasn't   going   to   he   shook   his   head.   ❝   that   doesn't   make   sense,   i'm   all   for   nonsensical   madness...━━━━   like   exploding   kittens   !   ❞   he   exclaimed   as   if   he   was   just   reminded   of   the   game's   existence   because   he   was.   ❝   but   you   have   to   admit,   even   exploding   kittens   has   a   better   vauge   game   summary   or   plot   than   whatever   that   was.   i'd   be   delighted   to   play   exploding   kittens.   ❞

          she doesn't mind the blank stare from  @lilacrespite  ,  finds it kinda adorable,  if anything  -  and marks the moment down as something to draw in her future work.  has to remember to add the little moments in someone's life,  how sitting down to play board games with a friend can actually be so healing.   " exploding kittens is the best. some of my little cousins taught me how to play, and i haven't gone back since - "   jia admits,  reaching for the card pile and picking out all the green difuse cards,  leaving only one in a deck.   " the games just for playing can be the most fun, "   she says with a shrug,  now shuffling the deck.   " i'm partial to both vague plots and extensive thinking games, just depends on my mood, i guess. here's yours, "   she continues,  sliding him his pile.

         "i lied."   okay,  she didn't.  citlalli didn't need  @kvngsans   to come with her that bad.  but still,  she wanted a partner and if there's none around  ...  make one,  right ?  or train one,  in her case,  she supposes.   "i mean - i won't make you or anything. but i think it'll be beneficial to learn how to throw a proper one. do you not want to be able to protect yourself without hurting yourself?"

         there's reasons why she feel for him,  right ?  he's handsome,  intelligent,  quick on his feet,  and has terribly soft hair she can't help but miss the  MOST  when she gets a little too drunk during girls' night out.  and jia hates it.  hates that he takes over so many of her thoughts,  her sleepless nights,  and that @alsoaless keeps  ...  showing up !  she's hoping that pretending to be josie will get her out of things.  and that's all it is:  hope.  it's all it ever was with him.  and she knows this !  and still,  when he sneaks up on her out of nowhere  ...  her heart is still loud against her chest,  and she hopes it's disdain.   "well, i don't want to spend time with you. and i wouldn't do that to my sister."  she's playing josie and she  SUCKS  at it,  and there is a reason this seong never went into acting.   "good for mimi. go back to her if you want to. but i'm not going to lower my dignity for that."

           "if you think i look like i know where the best american burger is in this place, then your eyes may need glasses and ears may need hearing aids, prince julian."   the british lilt of her voice rolls off her tongue,  a bit dry,  surely to be confused as a woman deadpanning,  as her own puppy dog eyes fall to the blond.  citlalli's nose scrunches at him,  something between annoyance and  ...  familiarity crossing her features,  leaning against the edge of the terrance.   "and we have a cook. so i don't eat out much."

she's not meant to be working, really. that's why she's here - hiding out from anyone who may have that bit of knowledge. there's a screenplay out in front of her, as she slowly works her way through getting all of the thoughts down. it's not like anyone's going to tell her therapist - and writing and working makes her happy, doesn't it? whatever. she feels distinctly like she's being watched, but it has to be the bouts of paranoia at doing something she's specifically forbidden from. but it's strike - so what did they expect? she turns, and someone's there, "were you - reading that? if you were, tell me it's good. and if you hated it, shame on you for reading over my shoulder."

         eyes will narrow on the screen,  the paper straw from her iced tea surely dissolving in the liquid as she mixes the drink against the watered down tea.   "i'm not sure what i'm supposed to be reading."   or maybe she needs glasses.  there's a high possibility of both.   "nor do i have eagle eyes,"  she continues to admit,  hand moving to cover the her forehead and give herself some shade,  really.   "... do you want me to read it? i'll have to come closer - but i won't if you don't."

          "fair warning -"   juliette disclaims,  hand in the air as she steps in,  hit with a blast of air conditioning,  enough to the point she's sure she could make it into a hair commercial.  not that that's ever been her style.   "just because i answered first, doesn't necessarily mean i'm any good with fashion. i actually usually just send pics to my mom."   because her mom will simply always be her fashion icon,  and even as an adult,  she's always quite happy with what clothing pieces she does recieve from her mother.  juliette will simply deem it fashion wisdom.   "what're your options?"
