my username is nebula without the first letter, and that's actually the name of basically an oc i have who's a duck, and she's a duck because i had (and still have) an obsession with ducks when i was maybe 9 years old. it's explained more here

So the story of my username starts in 2021, when my parents finally allowed me to play roblox for the first time.
My username (you can even still search it up if you'd like) was Cookiefox123a. Cookie, because I was a very big fan of CookieswirlC at the time, Fox, because I really liked foxes at the time (and still do), and 123a because the name "Cookiefox" was taken, so I based it off of how a friend ended her own username.
Even after my parents banned me from playing Roblox sometime in 2022, the persona I had made up on there (specifically for Piggy) "Cookiefox," stuck with me.
Eventually the name got shortened to Cookie around the same time for the sake of not sounding weird.
Then in 2023, My persona went through a design revamp and got their name shortened to "Cooki"
Finally, in mid-2024, I secretly made a new Roblox account again, deciding on "SSugar_Cooki" because I liked sugarcookies and wanted a username that looked nice everywhere.
And so uh yeah it's just kinda stuck to pretty much almost all my social accounts now

So, I'll start with my tumblr url since that one's simpler:
When I was in highschool (~16 y/o iirc) I was taking an "intro to photoshop" class, and one of the assignments was to write, illustrate & print a children's book. I chose to write one about my ocs, and one of the pages had, you guessed it, bioluminescent butterflies on it! I'd gotten the idea from Ori and The Blind Forest, I think.
When I made my url, I originally wanted it to be my username everywhere, but it was *way* too long for most sites, so I abbreviated it to Biolumi_Butterflies— Which you can still see a remnant of on my AO3. Eventually, I moved on to different usernames on other sites, but I honestly forgot Tumblr existed for a while so this one stayed the same. I'm glad I did, because I love it as a pen-name!
As for the username I use literally everywhere else (NoxiovsFvmes):
During the height of The Pandemic in 2020, I started working on a personal project called Antiopa— Mostly as a way to cope with being unable to participate in the BLM protests. One of the main characters in Antiopa goes by the alias "Bunny", but his "real name" is Nozomi Antiopa (the name was taken from one of my favourite songs, Nozomi by Sleep Dealer).
I connected a *lot* with this character, to the point I went by their name for a little while— Until I realised it was probably in poor taste for me to use a Japanese name as a white person, so I switched to the name "Noxa" (a variation of "Noza", one of Bunny's nicknames) instead.
Because "Noxa" still felt like a nickname to me, I made myself a nicholasname of "Noxious", then turned that into a username! Since NoxiousFumes had a high likelihood of being taken on most platforms (and because I wanted to up the "cool factor"), I switched the "u"s for "v"s, annnd... Now we're here! <3

sometimes i wish my gender didn't have to be so complicated bc it would make my life sooo much easier but i actually love gender. i think gender is so cool. like while it makes life so much harder for me its like also fascinating to see how im a man but also love being feminine. but like i still wanna transition. but i wouldn't be against learning to do makeup once ive transitioned and i love the experience of girlhood ive had and id never want to trade that for anything. you know? its just. fascinating to me (I also am quite interested in sociology and the like so theres prolly a bit of that shining through here)
i agree it is complicated, and i would love to feel like i don’t have to be pressured by society. i love gender expression! but i do feel Iike there’s limits and things i really don’t like about gender, that make one thing feel too much. and then i just wish i could be nothing sometimes, but what can you do?
i guess i can opt to use a label or maybe pronouns but it still doesn’t feel right to me
mhm i feel like theres a lot of people who use a ton of labels and it can be overwhelming and even make you feel like you have to be like that, but you don't. there's nothing wrong with being unlabeled :) a lot of people use it as a stepping stone but it doesn't have to be!
society does suck because I know to express myself the way I want to I'd prolly be looked at really weirdly and its so dumb that so many people havent unpacked their feelings about why gender has to be so strict and binary to them when it really isnt, and im betting that prolly has some influence on what you're saying (could be wrong tho)
but just saying, while a lot of people go with agender or genderqueer or whatever to describe what you're feeling it is totally okay and cool asf to just be unlabeled. all the unlabeled people I know are super cool :3 and hey there's nothing wrong with trying out different things if unlabeled doesnt fit lol, im a trans guy but i used to think i was a lesbian and then a bi girl and then nonbinary i went down a wholeeeee pipleline (not saying you're going to or anything like that just saying its okay!!!)
