Is It the End or the Beginning?
Sun conjunct Mercury conjunct Ceres conjunct Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn today and tomorrow. The most tremendous achievements require the most tremendous work. Halfway only gets you halfway. Those of us who’ve walked with integrity by taking responsibility for our actions, decisions, and failures are reaping rewards that have come through great effort. It’s not easy owning up to the choices we’ve made when they brought us dead ends and losses. But that is necessary if we are to make it through this planetary gauntlet without repercussions. Stop blaming others, stop blaming institutions, stop blaming anything and anyone who isn’t responsible for the limitations and mistakes in your life. The reckoning is upon us. The King is entering the hall where the Lord of Karma, the Lord of the Underworld, the Lady of Gaia, and the Messenger have been discussing our circumstances. What is the King learning from them? How will we know all that is being communicated? What do YOU think they’re talking about? I’m guessing it’s obvious now that we all have to go through hell before we get to heaven, at least proverbially speaking. Where are you now?

Whether you've heard about the Saturn Pluto conjunction on Jan 12, 2020 or you haven't, it doesn't matter. There has been an ominous sense of doom pervading and growing in our lives for quite some time. There is death, loss, and a foreboding anxiety about what may be lost next. Depending upon where this is happening in you natal chart paints the picture of how and what kind of dread you've been experiencing. And it's not just happening to you. It's happening to everyone everywhere, and it's happening on the geo-political and socio-economic stage. Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn take NO prisoners. Trust me. We have 38 days to look up from the trenches we've dug for ourselves and build whatever it takes to emerge into a magic we so desperately want and need. It won't happen without commitment.

All the wild horses gracefully silhouetted by the morning Sun and Moon. The wisdom teeming through their majesty conveys a sense of transcendent tranquility this morning. A sense that we have the capacity to accomplish absolutely anything we want to accomplish, as long as we don't lose sight of how important the peace and tranquility of life really is. As Neptune is stationing during today’s New Moon at 4° Sagittarius, we feel compelled to commune with the owls, the horses, the sea, in hopes of understanding the wisdom of their medicine. Today is a prayer for what lies ahead. Bow to the skies and the sea and all that exists within.

Our inner power is rooted in our sexuality. These forces swarm through our unconscious with subtle but very seated ties to ancient traditions and ceremony. With Moon conjunct Mars and opposing Uranus on the sexual axis of Scorpio/Taurus this morning, we find tremendous inner strength to break the chains that bind us to those ancient traditions. In doing so, we liberate the most powerful forces within us. Forces that for so long have been unconsciously associated with traditions that no longer–or never did–resonate with us. Jupiter and Venus meeting in Jupiter's home of Sagittarius today lights the way forward across our new landscape of inner power. Rebel against what no longer resonates deep within. Build a new altar that honors the spirit of life flowing through the death of you.

Jupiter is at the Galactic Center (27° Sagittarius), Mars is now in Scorpio, and Mercury stations direct today at 11° Scorpio. The messenger has fathomed the dark reaches of our inner underworld and is now returning. The work we've done over the past three weeks, knowingly or not, was important work for our souls. As subtle as it may seem, all that was discovered, realized, and revealed over this time has cleared a path for an abundance of regenerative opportunities in our inner lives. Opportunities to expand our awareness into perspectives we have only heard faint whispers of. Opportunities to more fully understand the limitations and mortality of ourselves and our loved ones. Opportunities to birth a new direction or initiative in our life, thanks to our new awareness, perspective, and understanding. Embracing that which empowers us enables the fruits of our efforts to ripen and sustain us. Moon in Virgo sextile Mercury today supports this work, this initiative, this new direction. Awaken to You. Feel the love emanating from the cosmos within. You breathe it every day.

Mercury retrograde is so much more than computer glitches, thwarted plans, and communication breakdowns, it is a time of reflecting upon how we think and perceive our world. Continuing deeper reflection upon the subtle nuances we create and react to in our relationships, Mercury retrograde in Scorpio is a window of time that enables us to completely regenerate our perspective on life. Having conversations that address insecurities and expose vulnerabilities releases their control over us, thus clearing our lens and expanding our capacity for new perspectives and expansion of consciousness. Reflection continues through Wednesday, November 20th when Mercury stations direct at 11° Scorpio.

Moon, freshly reborn into Aries, immediately meets Chiron and opposes Juno this morning, challenging our initial drive to burst forth into our new beginnings. Juno is very pleased to be in Libra, strengthening all our relations and helping us recognize our need for them, but Chiron continues to remind us of the deep personal wounds that played integral roles in depleting our self-esteem. This can feel like a bit of a wet blanket on what would otherwise be a full-blown launching of all engines, but all activations have lessons. Chiron’s lesson, as Moon travels past it, is to listen very closely to your inner child for its cries for help. What sadness have you yet to acknowledge within that, when heeded and nurtured, will allow you to emerge from a shrouded darkness that has so long felt like protection? This emergence will enable us to grasp the horns of life we once held and truly forge our own path. Moon remains in Aries through Sunday evening, giving us quite a fiery weekend to be bold, productive, and fearless, but also head-strong, rash, and resistant to any other way but our own. For this we need to channel Juno in Libra’s feminine wisdom to honor commitment, love, and sacrifice.

As Moon enters Aries we are rebirthed into old wounds that have taken a long time to heal, but find gathering confidence in the faith we learned these last few days.

Happy Samhain, All Hallows Eve and Halloween! Mercury stationing retrograde today at 27° Scorpio just before it reaches Venus at 28° Scorpio brings to light the underlying currents of power struggles and past trauma we are afraid to face and learn about ourselves and our relationships. Facing our trauma is difficult work and not for the faint of heart, but we are given the opportunity now to reflect upon these issues for the next month, as Mercury goes back through Scorpio. When it reaches the Sun at 18° Scorpio on November 11th, we will more fully understand these matters and how to express them outwardly. As is always the case with Mercury retrograde, be mindful of reflection. It is the ideal time to be introspective about matters relating to how we manage our lives, in particular our relationships, trauma, sexuality, limitations, and secrets (Scorpio). Growth comes through reflection and action, the latter being the most difficult to actualize.
Moon joins Jupiter at 23° Sagittarius later this morning, bringing us an opportunity to expand our consciousness into these reaches of reflection in order to better illuminate the resolutions we are facing with our own identity. Our emotional body is awakening. Nurture it and remind it that it is safe in your own embrace.

As Moon transits across Venus and Mercury (and Pallas Athena) in Scorpio this morning, we feel the struggles and suffering of humanity deeply. Our own worlds, too, are approached with apprehension and uneasiness. But as Moon separates from them this afternoon and glides into Sagittarius at 6pm EDT, our anxieties subside and we begin to feel optimistic about the expansive potentials that can come from all of the shadow work we’ve been facing in the murky waters of Scorpio. Mercury is nearly stationed to go retrograde on Thursday, however. More on that tomorrow.

The grand water trine between Venus in Scorpio, Moon in Cancer, and Neptune in Pisces is grounded (and intimidating) in a kite pattern by Saturn in Capricorn, keeping our desires to drift into etheric depths and reaches in check. You WANT to drift and journey to those reaches of inspiration and bliss, but something within is telling you you shouldn’t; a fated stagnation. With Mars in Libra (ruler Venus) squaring the nodes in Capricorn (ruler Saturn) and Cancer (ruler Moon…see the repeated archetypes here?), we are feeling torn between doing what WE want to do and what OTHERS want us to do. This is an instigating, impulsive, cardinal aspect that tends to bring edgy passive/aggressive fuel to these combustible dynamics in our relationships. We are always faced with the self and the other in relationships, but with Mars in Libra squaring the nodes it can be a fanned flame. Squares (and oppositions) are tests and challenges that beckon us to proceed with integrity, but Mars squaring the nodes doesn’t usually take the time to think about integrity. And Saturn rooting the grand water trine may just allow you to find out where the boundaries you shouldn’t cross really are. The combination of all these activations brings either a timid pause or a willful intuitive leap. Pause if we heed the cautionary wisdom of Saturn in Capricorn and the subordinate nets of Libra. Leap if we throw Saturn’s caution and Libra’s nets to the wind, allowing ourselves to be ourselves, wherever that takes us.

The Fog is Lifting
Saturn. Great commanding deity of TIME, KARMA, WORK, AUTHORITY, STRUCTURE. Without Saturn we would get nothing accomplished, never feel guilty about anything, never reap what we sow, never mature, and nothing would stay together. With Saturn reigning over all of these things, thus the weight it can put upon our own shoulders, it is no surprise that its changes will affect our own.
As Saturn stations direct this week (yesterday, technically), the proverbial chains that have been holding us down, back, and in, are unlocked and beginning to come loose. The fog is lifting. We are beginning to feel that there truly is potential in the plans and visions we were coaxing into existence earlier this year but were stifled in our capacity to manifest. A very heavy weight is coming off our chests. The pieces that fell apart between April 29thand now can be picked up and put back together again, but this time we can build an even better future, as difficult as it may sound.
We of course have to remember that Saturn is still in its ruling sign of Capricorn, along with Pluto and Moon’s South Node, so our coming achievements will reflect the essence of this archetype. The essence of Capricorn is journeying from student to master, beginner to advanced, childish to mature, the sea to the mountaintop. It is utilizing the lessons learned through hard work, diligence, integrity, strife, karma, guilt, and the crossing of boundaries, to make something of our soul’s journey. We all fell somewhere these past five months, perhaps we fell and fell and fell. Maybe we did things we shouldn’t have done. Maybe we got lazy or stupid while soaking up so much fun in the summer Sun. But hopefully we all made it through and are here to read or write about it.
Take heed of the whispers Saturn gleaned upon you from time-to-time over the summer (or winter in the southern hemisphere). Ideas of how to improve your career, your practice, your study, your mentoring, your parenting, your time management. These are all areas we are going to begin feeling better about. The work is not finished by any means, but there is beginning to be light at the end of the dark confusing tunnel of setbacks and struggles we have been through. With right action and conscious process we can attain now what we could only imagine attaining before. We can now climb that mountain.
Much as we have to remember that Saturn (and Pluto and SN) are still in Capricorn, we also have to remember that all the inner planets, including Sun, are either in or approaching Libra. They will one-by-one come to square Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn between Sep 22 and Nov 5. This is not to be taken lightly, because the inner planets reflect our day-to-day experiences and relationships, especially the latter when they’re all in Libra. We will be forced to examine and build upon the pieces of our relationships that may have been shattered or struggled to evolve lately. Saturn and Pluto can bring tremendous limitations and loss into our lives. Loss of people, jobs, security, friends, health. But they knock us down that we might rise again mightier than before. The phoenix rising from the ashes, building a new future, a new relationship, a new career. Particularly as these inner planets transit Libra and square Saturn and Pluto, we will feel a strong pull to honor the significant people in our lives and how we emotionally manage those relationships. Remember that honoring those people can also mean letting them go. This is about aligning our integrity in the realm of relationships through whatever is necessary. How can we build upon the relationships we are already in in a more harmonious and balanced manner? What can we let go of willingly that will bring peace to the love we share with them? It will be an October of recognizing our passive-aggressive behaviors and perhaps being put in our place because of them. Be mindful of your actions, but especially be mindful of your REactions. Saturn is prone to taking things too far just to find out where the boundaries are. If you remain vigilant of your actions, you can find that boundary without crossing it. In other words, think before you speak.
Find your gift. Nurture that gift. While Moon’s south node is in Capricorn, its north node is in Cancer. North node is the beacon we strive to find on the high seas of life. It is the coordinate we set our tack to. With Moon’s north node in Cancer we need to process our experiences and feel into our emotional bodies. It’s much easier said than done, but spending time within ourselves and learning to understand how we react to things that happen to us, be it loss, fear, anxiety, or even joy, ecstasy, peace, helps us get to know our inner child. There is always an inner child to nurture, secure, protect, and teach. When we saddle up and gather our reins, or hoist the mainsail and cast off our mooring toward the beacon in the distance, take good care of yourself. Don’t be so hard on yourself or so rigid in your game plan. Saturn in Capricorn is a double signature for rigidity and strictness. Cancer softens. So, without being lazy or possessive or gluttonous, as Cancer is wont to be, be soft on yourself and others on this journey.
Your achievements await you, but you must honor those around you who are accompanying you on this journey through life. Love the ones who love you. We cannot take this ride alone. Build a new future from the pieces that remain and build it with those you love. The lenses are being polished and the lighthouse is beckoning. It is time to set your course. Blessings, mate!

Moon Occults Saturn and Pluto
Moon occulted Saturn early this morning (an eclipse), and it occults Pluto as I am posting this (7:35am EDT). Because Saturn and Pluto’s celestial longitude and declination is so near each other all year, along with Moon’s when she transits their position around 22° Capricorn, we will experience these occultations many more times this year as glimpses into what is coming next January, when Saturn and Pluto finally meet alongside Sun and Mercury (first Capricorn conjunction since 1518). These are peeks behind the curtain, if you will, discovering secrets and power games taking place, quite possibly dark shadows at work. How this is unfolding in our lives, and to what extent, depends upon where this occurs in our chart. Look for anything near 19-22° Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, or Libra in particular, as these are angular to these current occultations. Primarily these transits surround our reputation, our power, and any structures in place in our lives, be they emotional (relationships), mental (belief systems), or physical (possessions and our attachment to them). Leading up to, during, and shortly after next January we can expect significant changes in any of these parts of our lives, especially if the placements are strongly aspected in our charts.
Here are the dates of occultations throughout the year:
March 29
April 25
May 22
June 18-19
July 16
August 12
September 8
October 5-6
November 29
December 27
In the meantime, Venus just entered Pisces as Mercury stationed direct while conjunct Neptune in Pisces, so take it easy, go with the flow, and in the beautiful words of Paul McCartney, LET IT BE!
