Learn about the ancient Roman symbol, the Fasces, today from Discovering Signs & Symbols by Kirsten Riddle.
FASCES (FAS-CES)
This Roman symbol of unity and justice has an ax emerging from the center. It was often carried on important occasions and thought to represent power and authority. The Fasces as a weapon could inflict a lot of pain or even kill, so it was seen as a powerful symbol that represented leadership and strength. The ax at the center was thought to symbolize the power of life over death and was also linked to the death penalty. Although there is a dark aspect to this symbol, it has strength and justice at its root and can be used in times of trouble and to help you assert yourself.
Magical Tip Face fear by imagining that you have the Fasces at the root of your spirit. See yourself standing tall like the ax in the center, stretching upward to the heavens with grace and strength.

Tap in to the power of the lemniscate with today’s ritual from Discovering Signs & Symbols by Kirsten Riddle.
LEMNISCATE RITUAL To cleanse the spirit and trigger your intuitive skills, try this easy ritual. Find a quiet spot, outside or in, and mark the infinity symbol on the ground. You can either do this physically by using stones or mentally by building a picture of it in your mind. Start walking slowly around the symbol as if tracing it with your feet. After the first attempt, pick up speed and repeat until you have walked the shape eight times. With every step, try to focus on the symbol in your mind. See it as a blazing figure of eight in flames. Make a silent request to your subconscious for clarity and wisdom.

Learn about the infinity symbol today from Discovering Signs & Symbols by Kirsten Riddle.
LEMNISCATE
The Lemniscate or infinity symbol, which looks like a number eight turned on its side, is a mathematical symbol that represents an infinitely large number. The symbol is considered infinite, too, in that it has no beginning or end and appears to go on forever. Throughout the world it represents time and space and the limitless possibilities of the universe. In ancient India, this symbol was associated with unity and believed to represent the balance between male and female energies. Today, working with this symbol can help bring a sense of completion and also help you tap into your higher self.
Magical Tip Doodling the sign for infinity on a piece of paper can help when you are looking for solutions to problems. Just trace the shape repeatedly while focusing on your dilemma.
We’ll have a ritual for working with the lemniscate, check back on Thursday!
