Hello! I'm Rooks, a freelance artist! 27! All my art is done by hand, be it my sketches, linearts, landscapes, needle felting, sculpting, stained glass, ceramics, and beyond! I do touch ups with GIMP, but try to keep it minor. My primary focus is on character design, which I personally have the most fun with. I do take commissions and currently all my slots are open! More information to come! Currently using some of my older works and photos to get the ideas going, not even the best of stuff, not until I am able to get some good software, scanning equipment, and watermarks.

You can still be the bigger person and also be angry at the same time, btw. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Anger is a healthy and normal part of a grief cycle. You're allowed to use "unkind" words to describe an unkind person and unkind situations.

Being able to draw older people as attractive without reducing or erasing the visual signs of aging, and in fact showing that they're attractive because of those signs, is an artistic skill that should be valued so much more. Honestly, it should earn you an immediate fortune because holy fuck is it a rare commodity. There are so many artists who seem to think attractiveness and aging exist in opposition to each other, so they smooth every wrinkle, erase every crease, and de-age the character until they're basically thirty with silver hair. But when an artist can look at crow's feet, smile lines, weathered skin, deep-set wrinkles, and all the little traces of a life well lived and say, "No, that's what makes them beautiful," that's a level of artistic observation and care I wish we celebrated more often.

Current Obsessions: Iron Lung, Project Hail Mary, Backrooms, Halo, Prototype, Trigun, Wolf's Rain, Columbo, Murder She Wrote, oh god- I have a lot- but Iron Lung is definitely the dominant one. It's gonna be living rent free in my head just as long as my long time faves- which will also all last until I am dead.

I'm so excited! I know it's gonna be amazing, I read part of it before but not the whole thing! Big mistake on my part, and I'm due to correct that. :D

I. Have several books I said I was gonna read but. Oops. Fanfic first, as always. Give me my familiar favorites! Lets put them through the horrors and the wholesome!

Currently Working On: Three Fanfics! Two of which are published! Shadow Smithing and To Listen To A Story! Both have one chapter published and both have their second chapters partly done, I've just been. SO SLOW. Lots happening to get in the way and then when I got the time- sometimes I just don't use it well. U-U;

Well- okay- so three fanfics, several ideas/snippets/drabbles have been saved and stashed and are in need of elaboration, mini fics, also expanding my character designs for the fics I'm writing and advancing my art skills... Oh, and!

I was making Iron Lung and PHM jewelry before, among other things, but I've had to hold off for a bit- lots going on in the house these past few weeks, so not a lot of places to work on it all. Need to get back to it, though.

Currently Wearing: Essentially, yoga shorts/briefs and a loose and soft yellow shirt with different cacti/succulents on it. Also one(1)! Hair Tie(TM).

Favorite Flower: Lilac, I love, love, LOVE lilacs. Purple, blue, white, pink, I love all of them. My home has Lilac growing in the front and back and their smell has always been one I can sniff out best, even without getting close to them, some years. Because they're so potent and such a staple in my memory, I end up including them in everything I do, somehow. ;P

But they're not the only favorite I have!

Le Petit Prince and Tropical Sunset Roses for color and look, semi recent acquisitions, but all the roses around my house mean the world to me too. Each bush we have is different! I love them all for the same reason as the lilacs, they're integral to my sense of home.

Bloodymary PSA

I have discovered I have inadvertently upset some Lung puritans with my openness towards Bloodymary and PHM.

I think Bloodymary is a testament to how far people are willing to bend the rules and throw logic out the window at the chance to uplift another. People would rather rip the narrative universe apart than let Simon drown in that ocean.

A large chunk of the audience chose to be perceived as cringe to jump at the chance to save someone who is objectively a monster. You treat Simon's mistreatment so seriously that you didn't even stop to correct the fact that I just spoke about Simon as if he were real right now. Truth of the matter is, he's a character... but your feelings about his story are real.

Simon is like your empathy practice training dummy and it's amazing to watch people become more human for it.

Don't you know how special that is? You went straight to hopecore and that is such a crazy thing to witness as someone who's been in depression for 15+ years. There was a very real chance that the general audience consensus would have been, "Simon deserved it" and moved on. Everybody knew this while they were developing the story. This movie was a social test and you all passed with flying colors.

You stubbornly provided rep to the disabled/mentally ill community with being so adamant about the struggle to survive what Simon did (at least, on the fix-it side of things). Which is an incredible feat all on its own. It's something nobody directly asked of you, yet you did anyway. You're actively fighting against the doomcore pessimistic approach to Iron Lung, and that's the entire point. It's supposed to wake you the fuck up and look at your life.

I've seen many people do their best to represent anger issues and address them without demonizing Simon and that is a HUGE step in social progress, empathy and media literacy, even when it's not 100% accurate, because by god you're trying. People are using Ryland Grace as a vessel for their own kindness. You guys wonder why he's OOC a lot and it's because people are writing themselves being nice to Simon and using Grace as a literary disguise! You're not slick.

Fandom is going to explore every facet under the sun, because that's the pinnacle of artistic expression. It dips into the horny, the weird, the tender, the fucked-up, the sweet, the mundane and fantastical. Your bitching is not going to stop that. You can't create enough hate campaigns in the world to stop human creativity.

We all have different opinions on what we like and what we don't. It's not anyone's job to dictate that for others, but rather find what we like and surround ourselves with it. See something you don't like? Scroll. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but it's true.

So, if I've pissed you off because I, an Iron Lung main, enjoy indulgent writing every now and then, fuck straight off, and also go do some soul searching, because you sound very insecure about some real important things.

If Markiplier himself doesn't get on camera, if David Szymanski or Andy Weir don't personally condemn it, then we have not been given the stop sign. Go fucking wild.
