Azure is not a good person, stop being a hypocritical piece of shit. (CW: mentions of abuse, manipulation, enabling, etc...)
Azure actively villainizes TwoTime in his head during forsaken, which is of course a valid reaction to being murdered especially with the manipulation from phosphorus but does not excuse the fact that he willingly murders both twotime and the other survivors brutally even though the other survivors had nothing to do with it. He does this several times.
He constantly mocks TwoTime as if they are the only source of his problems despite knowing TwoTime was just as powerless as him, yet they still tell them that they "never loved him" and that they "were just using him" even though he was just as dependent on them emotionally as they were dependent on him.
Why am I mentioning this? because people fucking ignore it all the time, that's why. It also supports a certain theory I have: The killers are all enablers to each other's shitty actions. Woah, shocker.
Azure is not a good person, especially not in forsaken—and like TwoTime, he hurts people. But instead of doing it for something in return or because he believes he is obligated to, he does it for a satisfaction and release of anger that ends up doing nothing but make him feel even shittier about himself.
People are always talking about how Azuretime wouldn't work and would be toxic an dysfunctional because of TwoTime, but they never mention how Azure's behaviour does not make it only dysfunctional but downright abusive.
Azure wants someone to place as much blame on for his problems as possible because he is convinced that everything that happened to him is his fault, and because they are practically isolated from the last bit of proof he's not truly unlovable he reacted violently. Then the killers enabled him to do it more, and he became fixated with hurting the person he loves.
You can scream at me about how "azure's being controlled and manipulated by phosphorus and the spectre!!!!" all you fucking want, but that is a cheap ass excuse for someone who will then say "TwoTime is selfish and only cares about the spawn!!!!!" even though it is literally canon that they were manipulated and controlled by Amarah and the cult.
They genuinely believe that the spawn is all there is for them, they said it themselves.
Is this an excuse to villainize Azure and excuse twotime's actions, no. Why do I not talk about how TwoTime's actions affect Azure?
BECAUSE WHAT TWOTIME DID IS ALL THIS FUCKING PART OF THE FANDOM TALKS ABOUT WHEN TALKING ABOUT THESE TWO'S LORE.
Whether or not but TwoTime is consistently depicted in canon as polite, respectful, and unsettling yes—but still someone who tries to do their part and is aware they are not wanted. Not being wanted was basically their entire life, while Azure's whole life was not being good enough in the eyes of the people who were supposed to protect them as well as being shamed for being curious. Here's all of their lines for requesting things:
TwoTime is obedient from being scared into submission and praised when they behaved, Azure is rebellious from never being praised at all.
TwoTime's behaviour is built off of fear, Azure's behaviour is built off resentment.
They both were just trying to survive.
TwoTime and Azure are two sides of the same coin, that is why they work so well in the first place. The reason they are tragic, is because they really and truly loved each other but were never able to choose for themselves once in their lives.
Don't believe that twotime loves Azure? the fucking milestone skins for twotime express this:
TwoTime is drawn towards the spawn so much because it is the only thing that has been willing to give them affection and care even if it was conditional. Azure is doing the exact same thing by working for the spectre.
Neither of them have ever had control once in their lives and it is not fair to be angry at either of them for being trapped in a cycle since birth.
I would also like to mention that majority of people who have a problem with TwoTime NEVER bother to even TRY to see from their point of view, which fucking sucks because they will also use it as an excuse to call them evil insane and selfish, even though their entire upbringing taught them being as self sacrificial as possible and letting people walk all over you is how to stay alive and that love is a luxury that they don't deserve. We can see this in the in the nightshade skin quote and one of the milestone skin quotes:
Notice how they said "our"? they clearly never wanted this.
The delusions very likely became a thing because delusions are a form of coping with abuse and trauma, especially if those delusions were drilled into you since birth.
I relate to azure and twotime on very base levels and I based all of my interpretations of them on not only my experiences but the experiences of ACTUAL CULT VICTIMS I have talked to in this fandom, as well as ACTIVELY RESEARCHING how abuse and manipulation effects people.
