Track of the week // James Vincent McMorrow // Cavalier 

This has to be one of the most incredible vocals I have ever heard from a male vocalist. James Vincent McMorrow has created an absolutely beautiful track; it is effortless… fluid, fluent and in essence, it just flows. The likes of Bon Iver and James Blake ebb and flow through this track, Blake-esque keys and Bon Iver layerism of falsettos… it is hard to not love this track.

'Post Tropical' (2014) is McMorrow's sophomore album and we all know that the problem most artists face is sounding exactly the same as the debut. However, this opening track sets the tone for 'Post Tropical' and it proves how he has retained his style and integrity but also how he has managed to fashion a sound completely new. It is a sound resoundingly like the McMorrow we're all used to. Mean feat from the bearded fellow. 

'Cavalier' features some of the most rich symbolism and imagery I have ever seen on paper and his vocals are terrifyingly passionate. The strength of the track lies upon his falsetto and it literally takes this track to a complete high but also takes us to a depth, unimaginable. 'Cavalier' has to be one of the most gorgeous tracks of the year.

Go with it.
