Big flop
I think whoever suggested that Rubeus might be a UK silver fox is right! He looks just like one! His head shape, ears, and tail don't quite look like a Flemish. The two breeds do look similar though, they have the same back arch. And whoever told you that flemish's can't have markings on their face like that is crazy. I have a beautiful pedigree fawn flemish giant and he has a small amount of white around his eyes and under his chin so they obviously can!
Thankyou for your answer about that :) I think UK silver fox or Silver marten looks correct. Do you think he could possibly be a cross breed? Because I've looked up the silver fox and silver marten breeds and he's larger than what's listed as average size and weight. Flemish cross silver fox perhaps?
Happy birthday, Rubeus! My baby is one year old.
Rubeus the Explorer of the Backyard.
please give Reuben a kiss for me! I love him!
Will do 😘 bunny kisses are a frequent occurrence in this house.
bun emoji review
a good friend, tho his head is a lil too small. his eye is also too red, even for albino. 7/10
a good take on a cartoon bun!! that smile must mean she is living a happy life. 9/10 would feed a nanner
oh microsoft, when will your ugly thick lines end? the silhouette looks ok but his tail looks like a backwards broken leg. 6/10 take him to the vet
cute, though the ears are weirdly placed and the nose should not be a pink button. 7.5/10 would still snuggle
outstanding bun loaf anatomy, but where is her tail? 8/10 she looks concerned
would be a neat stylistic friend but he has a single ominous red eye. 4/10 i do not trust him
again with the great anatomy! but that button nose looks weird. 7/10 the texturing is also odd
best bun on list!!!!! he is a nice shade of beige and a+ bode. 10/10 would shower with all the timothy hay and veggies
is this a joke? really now. this is a tailless rat wearing apple slices on his head. ok cosplay tho 1/10
this is also not a bun. this looks like it was supposed to be a dog but the tail, teeth, and ears were changed last second. 2/10 not a bad face though
this “bunny” came from the area of hell where the minions andthe happy meal mascot were spawned. his face terrifies me. 0/10 save your children
not a bad bun, but the red outline is vague and menacing. 6/10 what happened to his ears
A sassy bunny eating raspberries!

He good boy. He get treat. He like treat.
Need bunny info! Long post.
I need help determining the breed of my rabbit. Some random person is trying to tell me that my rabbit is not a flemish giant. She says that it’s genetically impossible for flems to have that pattern, even if crossbred. I don’t understand this. Any info is helpful. I’m thinking perhaps he is a crossbreed. But still definitely part flemish giant. He is so huge considering he is 8 months old and the proportions of his ears and feet don’t match smaller rabbit breeds. She is trying to tell me perhaps he is not flem at all but maybe silver fox. I looked up silver fox and it doesn’t look right, they’re too small, proportions are wrong, and I found info about their hair that doesn’t match up. I think maybe if he’s crossbred, perhaps he is flemish giant x Silver marten. But I saw both parents when I got him and they both looked like flemish giants.. 2 out of the 10 kits in his litter had this pattern, the other 8 were fully grey, fully black, or grey and white mottled. So silver marten doesn’t sound right either. Does anyone know can flems have this pattern? Perhaps from being crossbred a couple generations beforehand.
TL;DR - Someone is telling me I’m wrong about my buns breed. Help?
He looks like a silver fox to me - but the UK breed, not the American silver fox (two totally unrelated breeds btw). Both were bred in an attempt to get the fur of a silver fox on a rabbit so they could be a cheaper alternative than raising foxes for fur, however the UK silver foxes now come in different colours too: blue, chocolate, lilac. They are much larger than the American guys too, usually a little over 3kgs, but I’ve seen them get larger in recent years.
Flem’s are typically just steel in colour (though they can also be , which is a really dark agouti however many people have started buying them, crossing them to other things, or just getting slightly larger than average buns & crossing them again, & selling the babies as Flems. A pure Flem is easy enough to spot though. I think Continental giants have become more popular recently because they’re much larger & usually come in a brighter range of colours, I’ve come across a lot of fawn & opals, but they’re like the length of a labrador so I wouldn’t even factor those in, their minimum weight is 5.5kg but they usually are over 6kg, closer to 7kg. British giants are smaller than either & come in a huge rage of colours, I would say if he were any kind of giant it would be British, but again, he doesn’t have the body type or colour. This list of breed standards from the BRC should help outline the breeds in more detail.
Rubeus look the perfect size & body type for a silver fox, Flem’s are almost double his size, & at the age he is now he is fully grown. He may fill out a little more (mostly thickening the foreheard) but he’s essentially fully grown. Flem’s range at about 5kg, & foxes at does Rubeus weigh? I’ve seen some people commenting saying his coat colour is otter, otters have a band of orange between the black & the white, his colour is simply “black fox” regardless of what breed or cross he is. Also Rubeus seems to have the classic fox tail, sort of three times too big for his body haha, I’ve always loved their big poofers. I haven’t kept foxes myself, but I did bring a female “Sylvie” back for my friend from a show in Scotland, so I had the pleasure of being Sylvie’s holiday home when her owner traveled.
Here are two steel Flemish Giants:
& here are two black Silver Foxes:
I hope that helps!
That last photo looks exactly the same. Guess he may be a UK black fox then. Also to answer your question in the post, Rubeus weighs around 4kg. I can check for an exact weight is that is necessary or helpful. Thankyou for your comments and help!
all my friends are bunnies, take it slow, wait for them to sniff you then they’ll know, please don’t make any sudden moves, my bunnies are very scared of you
