their big eggs are actually that size for a similar reason to human babies having massive heads!! being bigger at birth can be important.

kiwi are trying SO HARD to become mammals. fur-like feathers, whisker-like feathers, little beady eyes, nocturnal, great sense of smell.... that's basically a mammal!! they're well suited for life on the forest floor.

their big eggs work alongside these adaptations to give them a leg up in the bird world. their young hatch already feathered! they're precocial, which means they're born with the ability to open their eyes and move around. like foals.

big egg = more powerful offspring from the get-go. babies don't need to spend precious time vulnerable while they develop on the ground when they've already done all that in the egg!

(unfortunately, with the introduction of mammals to aotearoa, these adaptations are a little less useful...)

By definition you can't accidentally queerbait. Queerbaiting is specifically using a same sex pair from the show to market the show to queer audiences with no intention of ever following through on a romantic relationship.

There is officially licensed Destiel merch signed off on by Kripke. Teen Wolf had a commercial with the actors for Derek and Stiles draped over each other talking about being "on a ship." Both shows actively used scenes between them as marketing while actively mocking fans for wanting them together. Sherlock has multiple characters refer to Johnlock as a couple, including characters we're supposed to believe are never wrong about human behavior and pushed those scenes in marketing. Then they acted insulted when fans saw them as a couple.

That's queerbaiting.

Done on accident it would just be queer subtext. Done because they had no other choice due to censorship is queer coding.

The specific meaning of the word is really starting to get lost and it's a pretty important one to keep accurate. It describes a very specific phenomenon that was done repeatedly and maliciously for decades and is meant to examine that specifically.

Doing it on accident sucks, but it isn't a tactic of capitalism intentionally intended to suppress queer representation while making money from queer fans.

So, you know the music that plays down in La Cathedrale and within Descendia? Cool Latin lyrics that never got an official release to my knowledge? "The Cardinal Calls" and "Roses from the Abyss", to use the songs' proper names. I've had them on my mind as of late for unaccountably non-Warframe related reasons and tried my hand at transcribing them. Turns out, it is very difficult to transcribe a language you do not speak. My attempts were coming up with the occasional cogent word or phrase, but could not string together a narrative. My desperation put me in a rather dark place and led me down a path seldom travelled: I asked Matthew Chalmers, the composer of the tracks, on Twitter directly.

To my surprise and immense gratitude, he responded!

I might have been wrong in some of my assumptions regarding applicability to certain non-Orokin individuals, but if you've been as keen on Warframe's music as I have, there you have it!
